Re: Mario & Luigi's Future In Doubt As A Potential Sony Acquisition Emerges

Orpheus79V

I don't really think there's anything really to worry about here, at least in regards to the prospect of PS exclusivity. Kadokawa are quite a multimedia company, having fingers in many pies. Sony have also demonstrated with the Bungie acquisition that they aren't above owning gaming studios which aren't part of the PlayStation Studios family. It would be in Sony's best interests to allow Kadokawa's gaming entities to exist as is, much of their output is specifically Japan focused, and sells better on Nintendo. Let's not forget they've been getting into shipping games on PC and even Switch.

Unless proven otherwise, I would imagine Kadokawa will largely operate independently, much like Bungie were supposed to do until they started losing massive amounts of cash.

Re: Sonic 3 Director Teases Another Character Reveal At The End Of The Movie

@TheMainMii That unlikely third option sounds the most likely to me idk. I'm not sure I can see them doing Metal Sonic right after Shadow, it might be too derivative to have another "Sonic, but evil" character - and if they follow the current characterisation, he'd be mute and thus a downgrade. Silver has a bit of a different angle as a rival character, and I think they know they have to introduce Amy ASAP after this.

Amy did play a key role in Silver's development in 06 so it'd fit imo. If they really want to delve deeper into the cast they could possibly make Blaze the princess in the story too, have a blend of the 06 and Rush storylines.

I'm expecting Pac Man World 2 Repac and SoulCalibur 7 were two others that got gutted. I wouldn't even entertain the possibility of another Klonoa getting greenlit to be cancelled.

@axelhander Very true. More cruel than just firing someone, you just make them feel worthless and isolated at work until they can't take it anymore and leave of their own accord, all so the company can say they didn't fire you - you resigned!

Re: Sonic X Shadow Generations 'Sonic 3 Movie Pack' Adds Keanu Reeves

Orpheus79V

@HammerGalladeBro They said the game is a bit shorter than the original Generations. How much shorter is a mystery, there's looking to be around 7 zones (before this DLC) as opposed to 9 in the original, but also an open world hub, more story focus and the levels are longer in length too (First stage is like 5-6 minutes compared to Green Hill being 2-ish minutes). I'm guessing it'll be as long as Sonic Forces was - 4 to 5 hours - with Sonic Generations being closer to 10, including side content.

Like Forces, this would probably be a $40 game by itself, but they threw in a Sonic Generations "remaster" (more of a port with some small new additions) to bump it up to $50 - $60 with the Deluxe Edition.

Re: Maria & Melphiles Feature In New Sonic X Shadow Generations Trailer

@MirrorFate2 I get what you mean but this is the one game where it would make sense to bring them back, and they aren't gonna stick around after this game is over. It's an interesting opportunity for characterisation. Imagine someone close to you died, eventually you learn to move on from the grief, but then years later that person shows up alive, exactly as you remembered them - how would you react?

Re: Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Movie Trailer Finally Reveals Keanu Reeves' Shadow

Orpheus79V

@Maubari Yeah there's a shot later in the trailer with Tails flying out of it and you can see some of looks like moustache looking protrusions in the back. That's what convinced me this is meant to be the film's equivalent to the ARK.

I'm not surprised they'd make the ARK a bit smaller here. Given the relatively grounded world of the films so far, a moon sized colony being secretly built by the US government in the 70s might be too out there - so far the more fantastical elements have come from the "aliens" and not humans. The question is, what is it doing beneath London exactly?

Re: Yes, Beyond Good And Evil 2 Is Still In Development

@larryisaman It's entirely possible they rebooted after Ancel's retirement. This kind of scope creep was a problem for his other vapourware project, PS4's WiLD. He seemed to insist on having his games become these massive experiences, and I could see the team narrowing the focus once he departed if only so they could actually have something to release.
