Re: Video: Monster Hunter Stories 3 Trial Demo Side-By-Side Graphics Comparison (Switch 2, Xbox Series S, PS5)

@darylb24 It does seem like Capcom's modus operandi since introducing the RE Engine to leave their games unlocked, which is great for future proofing with backwards compatibility, and most of their games hover around the 50-60 fps range so it isn't too bad, particularly if you can use VRR. When it comes to games like Dragon's Dogma as you mentioned as well as Wilds and the Switch version of this game that do struggle above 30, it would be nice to have an option to cap at 30 (or 40 for 120HZ).

Rise on Switch might be the only example in a while where they had a 30fps cap? Not counting PC versions where I think you can select it.

@Friendly Star Ocean 2 and FF Tactics don't even look the same as the other titles either, especially Tactics - compare it to Triangle Strategy and it's night and day visually. I'm not sure it even is HD-2D, outside of a Polygon article describing it as one. Same for Star Ocean.

Even the Dragon Quest remakes don't even really look like HD-2D despite being in the title outside of the characters being sprites.

@LazyDaisy For what it's worth, that DLC content for Frontiers was done by a smaller team iirc, while Sonic Team as a whole have increased their staff size considerably since 2022. Internally developing Shadow Generations and Crossworlds so soon after Frontiers is something that couldn't have been done before with their previous team size, at least not to that level of polish.

I still think they're targeting a 2027 release though. Avoid GTAVI, get some extra time for polish, and perhaps co-ordinate a launch in time with the next movie if they can hit the first half of the year.

(Yes, GTA is an M-rated franchise and Sonic is targeted at kids, but we all know plenty of minors will be playing GTA as they always do, and plenty of adults for Sonic.)

Re: Sorry Xillia 2, 'Tales Of Berseria' Is The Next Remaster From Bandai Namco

Releasing this before Xillia 2's remaster seems weird, but it starts to make sense when you look at the credits for other Tales remasters.

Graces F remastered by TOSE
Xillia Remastered by Doki Doki Groove Works

Bandai are commissioning multiple teams to work on these projects and this is likely a different developer than Doki Doki who will likely have started working on Xillia 2 just recently.

Re: Review: Yakuza Kiwami 2 (Switch 2) - One Of The Series' Very Best

@Solid_Python @dskatter The PC port had some issues with some minigames and combos being harder to perform, some of them are fixed by a mod. You would hope a new console release would allow the opportunity to fix the issues, they figured it out with later Dragon Engine titles. I guess we'll find out in a few weeks...

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition Switch 2 Compatibility Update Released

@TripleJump I think people underestimate the work needed to implement proper 60fps support to games that were specifically designed to run at 30fps. It's not as simple as flipping the switch and having everything just work. Same applies for games with 60fps caps getting 120fps+ mods and patches.

If nothing else I'd honestly be fine with resolution bumps, especially for 1-3 where the dynamic res caps are still too blurry on Switch 2.
