@marktehshark69 I agree to be honest. If a Switch port of WWHD turned down the bloom and added back the cel shading it'd be perfect - that and 60fps to match the other recent re-releases.
@Bunkerneath Have you not heard of VAT? I'm assuming you're from the UK. The US retail price doesn't include sales tax, because it differs in percentage depending on the different states. Add 20% to that £347, and you get £417. Switch 2 pre-tax price is a little cheaper in the UK compared to the US.
@Jeronan @rjejr @Alpha008 Leaked specs from shipping data said Switch 2 GPU is 3 teraflops, which is 10x higher than the 300 gigaflops of Switch 1. The numbers Nvidia are claiming track.
@link3710 From a storage perspective it would also get ridiculous for NSO Gamecube on Switch 1 over time. At 1 to 2 gigabytes per game, plus the article confirms EU versions are included as well. Even just this launch lineup of 3 games will be about 6GBs, 20 when you account for the other 7 currently confirmed games. While cheap SD cards are obviously plentiful I'd imagine they're mindful of the 32GB of storage being all that many people have.
Well yeah, FF7 Remake is a 100GB game. No way that was fitting on a Switch game card. Not sure how this is worse than the download code only boxes? If you still need a card to boot the game, you can probably resell these games later on? You can't do that with a code.
@imgrowinglegs In theory yes, it's just less likely to happen because the sticks are much bigger than the Joycon. Unless it's using tech like hall effect, all analogue sticks have the potential to drift with time and use.
I love the implication that there's a team of people having to play through every single Switch 1 game, including all of the asset flip AI slop and hentai puzzle games (none of which are listed in the games with issues PDFs yet in case you're wondering). Those guys aren't being paid enough.
@Truegamer79 Not that the Switch couldn't handle GameCube. The way that Switch Online apps work is all of the games come downloaded at once. That's fine for NES games, but when GameCube games at 1 to 2GB each, that starts to become pretty absurd when most people will only have 32GB built in storage. Even with SD cards that's a significant amount you'll need to reserve for GameCube games.
To be honest I think the whole NSO retro app scheme needs a rethink for Switch 2 even with the increased storage. Let me be able to not have to download both PAL and NTSC versions of N64 games, etc.
First impressions are always positive even for a lot of bad movies, then the reviews drop. The keyword they always use is "fun" instead of good. Hell, that first embedded tweet outright says explicitly that it is fun instead of good.
@wiiware audience scores aren't anymore reliable than critic ones frankly.
One week after Sonic 4, same day as Godzilla x Kong. I feel that the audience overlap for these films is pretty big, so one of them will probably move to another date.
It was fine. Several new announcements and release dates for this year. I don't see much reason to be disappointed about a Direct when there's another one next week, particularly when we weren't expecting this one at all. However, it's starting to look over for Prime 2 and 3 remastered, same for Wind Waker and Twilight Princess.
Kit and Krysta are interesting to me when they're talking about the time where they worked at Nintendo. I find them less interesting when they're talking about Nintendo after leaving the company; there was some insight they could provide that set them apart from the usual commentary channels, but it only goes so far as the years keep passing.
@HammerGalladeBro Sticks appeared in some comic strips on Sonic Channel, which is how she's a part of the canon. Boom is a whole different thing.
@AlienX I think what happens is at the end of Rush in the dimensional rift, when Blaze leaves, instead of returning home to her dimension she ends up in Sonic's future. At the end of Silver's story in 06, she tells him to use chaos control to send her to another dimension, which ends up being her one.
@MirrorFate2 Not being included doesn't make them not canon. They've just covered the key parts mainly and will probably add to it when they decide on more placements. Advance 1 isn't included, but Advance 2 and 3 are - Advance 1 obviously wouldn't be non canon, but there's nothing noteworthy about it's story so it wasn't a priority to put in for now. Sonic Rivals isn't included because those games were never released in Japan and this is a Japanese website, so there's that. Storybook games take place in pocket dimensions and could be placed kind of anywhere (though Secret Rings needs to be before Generations of course).
I'm pretty sure the only truly non-canon material of note is Sonic Chronicles, Sonic Boom, Archie/Fleetway comics and all of the TV shows before Prime. The movies are clearly their own canon also.
@Tetsuro I think the implication is that because they're targeting lower internal resoluations, texture quality will be lower thus decreasing storage size, but then if you're upscaling to a higher resolution you might want those assets?
@Jhena Brothership probably uses FSR1 for it's upscaling, which barely counts as AI based upscaling like in DLSS or FSR3 and 4. It's just a basic spacial upscaler, hence why it doesn't look that good compared to the actual AI upscaling tech, but it's the only type the original Switch could use.
@Sonicka Those screenshots do seem to point to that portalling to different tracks concept too. One of them had one of those big rings at the end, and the on screen map didn't show any kind of loop.
"499 Canadian dollars converts to around 350 USD / 280 GBP at the time of writing"
I'm guessing that's VAT excluded. If so, it would cost around £336, but that's an odd price so I could see it being rounded up and selling for £350, which is still an acceptable price if true.
My expectation would be around £400 actually, so I'd be surprised if this listing was true.
@Max_the_German Yeah this is merely a fanboy talking point, and the projection seeps into their reading of Sony's updated PS2 numbers. Their previously reported figure was from a year before manufacturing ceased, so it was obviously more than 155 million.
There's a photo verified by Shawn Layden of the final PS2 ever produced which lists the total number of consoles as 160,636,685 - meaning the idea that many here have of Sony "moving the goalposts" is mere fantasy.
@Yoshi3 A Nintendo developed Banjo kind of goes against Xbox's current philosophy of putting their games everywhere. No way in hell that Nintendo would agree to developing a game for all platforms.
@dojmin Switch version appears to include the first three Season Passes based on the roster of 28 fighters. Base game had 15, the passes add 13 more. There is also a fourth Season Pass, which will remain as DLC for this version, it only came out last August and is still rolling out the content (Only 1 of 4 characters released) which is probably why it isn't part of the package.
@PinderSchloss It will be a new Mario Kart game. Just lime how the Switch 1 reveal trailers games were just "experiences" and supposedly didn't represent actual games coming to the system (they all were real games that released year 1).
When they revealed the movie design Miyamoto said this was going to be his main design going forward so this isn't surprising - it's also basically going back to the pre-DKC design. Why he looks the same in DKC Returns HD? It's a port of an old game. The park is another matter, but there's nothing to stop them from changing the costumes, etc.
@nomither6 They totally can. Other RenderWare games have had remasters in different engines. The issue is overblown (and Heroes would probably be more of a remake anyway).

Re: GameCube Games On Switch 2 Will Support An Optional CRT Filter

Not as much of an issue for 256GB as standard.
Re: GameCube Games On Switch 2 Will Support An Optional CRT Filter
As long as it isn't a cheap scanline filter. The CRT and LCD filters on the other NSO apps were really good though so I'm sure it'll look nice.
