PPT2 is in my top ten Switch games as far as hours played, but why can't I upgrade? I don't really see a reason to pay for the full game again, especially since the Switch 1 games are both sitting in my library.
This looks like a really dangerous combination of Vampire Survivors with just a bit more structure. Has anyone given it a play yet? Or should I keep banging my head against Shiren 6...
Why are these things always presented as a competition? Are there actually people who won't buy a PS5 because the Switch exists, or vice-versa? I'm sooo tired of this console wars BS. They are two different products with two different ecosystems of software.
Alright, amateurs... 71 games, 1,031 hours. IN MY DEFENSE, my account is a shared account with my son, so it includes his Minecraft habit and my Diablo 3 habit. A ton of that time was couch co-op, which I will never feel bad about.
Hot take: planet Mira holds the consciousness of all of the humans and aliens as a part of Alvis' central processor, allowing him to simulate and integrate thousands of perspectives simultaneously. Prove me right, Monolith.
Oh man, Leaf Green probably marks the most excited I ever was to play a new game, aside from playing Breath of the Wild on the newly released Switch. Why do I have to dust off my GBA to play this game? Take my money, please.
Enough of the ports, there's too much risk that the Switch will get stuck with the "lesser version" of the product. I'd much rather have a game built from the ground up to run within the Switch's parameters, real time shadows and ray-tracing be damned. Fun games, please!
I've been loving my time with the game so far. I imagine that this next week, I'll mostly be looking for more. I actually really like how championship competition works now, it's fun to tighten up times without having to sit through match making or whatever. I do wish there were smaller, daily competitions in addition to the weekly World Championship. I put up some S ranked records in about fifteen minutes this morning, but it'll be a full week for results to get tabulated. I can only replay the first stage of Donkey Kong so many times, guys
I bought a set of these.... LAST WEEK. Oy, with the surprise price drop.
On the plus side, they feel amazing! I've been sifting through my game library to see just how many games I can use these guys on. Huge advocate of Puyo Puyo Tetris!!
THIS IS THE GAME! When do we get this on NSO? I do like the coloring of the JP art, but I'm sticking with the Western version. Both looking good, though!
I love these games! I'm one of those people who played the Game Boy Mega Man releases years before I played the NES games, so they sort of became my standard for platforming games (along with Metroid II). I stand by my opinion that Megaman IV and V are fantastic games that I actually like better than their NES counterparts.
Did anyone else feel like TotK took the BotW world and made it all a little more "game-y"? Like, if people complained that BotW was too boring or that it lacked a lot of gaming conventions, like tons of weapon upgrades or dungeons or caves, TotK was like, "Fine, here's some traditional game stuff to do." I'm currently replaying TotK and it's such a different experience than replaying BotW.
I love me some Atlus, but they do have a history of gouging early adopters on some things. I've always happily paid full price to play Etrian Odyssey titles on release, but even back in the 3DS days I knew that my $40, 100+ hour experience would eventually be on sale for $15.
I love my some GBA, don't get me wrong, but a drip-feed release schedule on a premium service seems sort of misguided, especially considering this game was already released in the 3DS ambassador program back in the day. More importantly, why can't I just pay a lump sum to own these libraries of classics?
Are we going to be looking at a Link's Awakening-style remake of Earthbound? The graphics and sound were so important to shoring up Earthbound's identity as a game, i almost hate to see change happen.
I like this game so much better than OOT. It's got the classic dungeons, and it uses the third dimension in a way that is actually interesting rather than just frustrating.
I own one of the 4 copies of this game that was sold in the wild, and it's actually a favorite Game Boy title of mine. Sonia's movement is slightly more modern than the original NES movement (yay changing the jump arc in the air), and I actually really like the minimalist visuals. Having hidden relics in the stages is fine, and the secret level actually impacts how you approach the final boss. All in all I'm glad I'll be able to put some more time here.
Honestly though, this was a Super Game Boy game. Why isn't that functionality part of the NS emulation?
X and Y are by far my faves in the series. I couldn't wait to see what was past the next route, and the new type meant I actually had to pay attention for battles. I didn't get as amped to play a Pokemon release since the original.
@Exerion76 I don't disagree, but I will say that it seems pretty clear that Big N doesn't want to release a game that would compete with Mario Kart. The Battle Royale model gives F-Zero its own space, which could be great news going forward.
Is anyone concerned by this? Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey are already out, those were the bangers as far as the general population is concerned. The next Zelda and the next Mario will be the next time we see more Nintendo representation on lists like this. Not that they matter.
I want to like Scarlet/Violet, I really do. The pacing of the game is just sooooo poor, and the open world doesn't have enough to do to support being so big. I loved both DLCs for SwSh, all they had to do was make a bunch of nice dense areas to explore like that.
The lack of cross save is a bit disappointing. I have enough hours in Sunbreak that the thought of starting from scratch is rough, but it's great that more people will be able to play the game. I actually like the idea of starting with a fun game and then upgrading it to take advantage of more powerful hardware. It's far better than developing a mediocre, 10 hour "experience" that's locked into high end hardware. Make the game first, make it good, then give it a boost for people who want a boost.
I started this last night, and... Wow. Remember the outrage over the trees in SwSh? Violet feels like it isn't even finished yet. The characters look fine, the Pokemon are fine, but the rest of the package is like playing a bets PS2 game. I say next gen goes back to 2D with sprites.
I was a little surprised that the newly added hero quest is accessible pretty early game. I imagine most people will steam-roll the new content in an hour or two with their max level party. The new job itself is pretty tasty though, it's snappy and fun to play.
All about Final Fantasy Explorers. Middling reviews, cynical fans, and an unending number of Monster Hunter comparisons couldn't convince me this game wasn't fun.
@Eel I hopped down here to say this. Several Etrian Odyssey titles add alternate music, artwork, and convenience quests (Exp bonus, Money bonus), and the portraits and music alone will be worthwhile for fans of the series.
Metroid II, over here. A tough game, especially for a 7-8 year old, but my brother and I eventually figured it out. When I finally defeated the final boss it felt like such an accomplishment (and at a now embarrassing 16 hour clear time).
I will remind fellow vets that part of the challenge of the older games was that the hit boxes for monster attacks were sometimes, err, pretty generous in favor of the monster. What a lot of us are experiencing as "easy" is at least in part because most monster attacks work correctly. Combined with more fluid, less janky animation, the hunter ends up making some gains.
@Xansies I think that my biggest gripe is the way we start for revenge, then we don't need revenge but keep going anyway, and then we get the "twist" regarding Shulk's relationship to everything. That relationship makes 100%, zero sense to me, as does the entire ending. I guess it gains some context with XC2, but is that really an out?
Am I the only Xenoblade fan that doesn't care for the story in the first game? It's a nonsensical mess, and half of your party members have zero development or characteristics beyond their plot beat. The gameplay is fun, and the world is obviously amazing, I never understood why so many players swear that it's the pinnacle.
@FishyS Not to be a negative Nelly, but if I did something for 25 hours and still didn't understand what I was doing I might not be the brightest crayon in the box, you know? Xenoblade games have a lot of systems, but they aren't brain surgery by any stretch.
I'd argue that "more content" isn't necessarily a boon if that content is monotonous grinding. Even the deviants in XX/GenU were too much for me, especially if you wanted to develop an armor set. Same with the Guiding Lands. Just... Why?
