@Arkay very much the truth here. Another commenter has not been shy about putting what exactly happened but this is definitely the best way it could be written out. Strange to see the glorification of all of this as though this water isn’t full of mud.
@Bunkerneath I’m sorta the same way, the game has to be really special for me to dive into a turn based game. This one wasn’t it for me. A very generic homage with terrible aspects of modern game design. This game commands you to spend way too much time on sections that really should wrap up quickly.
Boy this one doesn’t shake up the mold whatsoever. Couldn’t even finish the first little area in the demo. Just ticked every box of annoying modern game design.
I’ve been with the game since the closed beta over 10 years ago. They’ve always been impractical about how they handle things and this is no different. There’s a list of removed features and stupid compromises they’ve made to address issues with things like arcane helmets limited feature skins raids as a whole tower keys. Doesn’t bother me but my comment still stands as someone who truly knows the in depth stupidity this game partakes in to achieve something that appears functional. They’ve definitely been better about recent updates making this game feel better but yikes there’s still insane jank and they cause all these issues themselves. They designed everything ground up so they’re 100% at fault for all this dumb crap. Build it up break it down make it better. Shouldn’t be that hard as the literal architect.
It’ll be an update to try and compete with starfield. These guys have more experience than Bethesda so I’m sure their version would be better if that’s what this is.
This game wasn’t even close to good enough to warrant completionism. I even went in without knowing anything. Muted everything I could and just waited for it to launch only to be pissed off at how soulless this was. Just a bunch of busywork and being frustrated at the essentials they removed. I felt the drag set in when all mechanics presented were defeated by rocks. It takes forever to get through rocks in this game. But don’t worry they know it sucks so there’s always a rusty claymore inside each rock pit so you can continue. Among other issues this game was just crap. Beat it once and put it down never touched again. Maybe someday again. It’s my favorite franchise and this entry was just garbage. And it was bumped in price. A bump in price and the majority of the work was done already. Nintendo will begin a new era of greed soon.
Doesn’t matter if they deny it. It’s definitely true. There’s parts of us we don’t face that cause denial within ourselves making it possible to actually lie to our own minds. They saw the success and they copied it, changed a few things added overbearing disrespectful monetization and swept the template under the rug. I have zero respect for this game and its developers. Doesn’t matter if they cried, I remember being excited for this game when I saw it so long ago to be completely betrayed by my first exposure to gacha games but definitely not to overbearing microtransactions. I walked away disappointed. Plus they’re not even talented enough to get a switch port out. It’s been what 4 years?
I love how these statements only come out after a huge dumpster is dropped and they can’t snuff out enough negativity to get it to sell better. They just say “sell sell sell! AHHH it’s not making it hurry, Timmy break the bottled apology glass and fart out a statement to the public!”
Not interested in the game but I’ll weigh in. I think those who have the game purchases already will think it’s a bad deal. Those who have never played or purchased the game would see it as a fine price and worth paying if you’ve played the 2nd one somewhere and want to see more.
That’s indeed a common perception that the game is such a dumpster that the dlc needs to win people over. Shouldn’t have gotten to this point in the first place. Then again companies these days don’t get big making good stuff. I’d be surprised if someone could be entertained throughout the entire DLC rather than how it reviews as a score.
I can already tell this is the kind of thing that we’d all say it’s ugly and clunky but at least it’s here. Hopefully the new hardware can handle this type of stuff better at a later date.
@Switch_Pro they aren’t playable. Typical half to 2 second input lag on RE8 and at the time it was their latest release. If they didn’t bother putting in good severs for that I doubt the rest are good.
Hot take: good. Mainly because why does it need to be on steam? You’re still a rom hunter afterwards so is having it in steam really that much more convenient? This existed only to hurt them and I cannot believe they didn’t see that coming. They were on Nintendos hit list before but now they’re on their VIP hit list for sure.
Whether short or long, just having an indiscernible difference in quality to the main story makes a good side quest. Witcher 3 is a good example. All side quests are fully voice acted, some are short some are quite long but all of them were either fun funny or really intriguing.
@blindsquarel that’s a good point. I’ve never even played paper Mario yet I was much more drawn to bug fables that I 100% it. Can’t even be bothered with Paper Mario.
I see no issue with emulation. I was doing it earlier. It’s not a crime or it would’ve been shut down when the first console emulator came out in the 90s. However, dolphin drawing attention to themselves by using infringed code then gallantly throwing it onto steam will draw all kinds of bad attention to emulation for the rest of the year or longer depending who or what gets involved. They’re so stupid. Now if Dolphin dies we have to use one of the awful backups or hopefully MMJ steps up. Stop drawing attention to the emulation scene. It exists we all know if you want in then come in and learn otherwise leave it off platforms outside of your own site and git deposits.
Sony huffing that copied. I don’t care which stupid plastic box does better but if you’re ignoring facts then maybe you’re the flat and behind one. Also wtf is the graph showing? ~150% of momentum? Maybe don’t share the fanboy interns computer files.
@nimnio yes this! I didn’t want to sound rude but honestly has anyone out there really benefited from credits? I doubt someone will look you up and follow your Twitter or whatever because you were Door Specialist #3 on a 20 year old video game. I paid for the game credit should go to me for spending my hard earned money on it and completing it.
Still eagerly awaiting the mobile version as a companion to my switch. It’d be awesome to grab my okra and pumpkins replant and forget until I’m back on the switch.
Majoras mask link would like to have a word with you, not only did he teach twilight princess link advanced sword techniques but he also was able to transform into a literal diety of war.
Nice but I beat this recently on my steam deck. Not really keen on dumping more money for their weird subscription package when the 20 dollar one is all that is needed.
All cloud stuff should be shut off and ported if we ever get a new switch model. Make a damn console that can run it not run compromises. The technology is definitely there to make a switch that is 3 times as powerful as the current one without changing anything else.
@TheBigBlue Metroid fusion does have its moments of really getting lost if you don’t know how secretive the game can be for its required progression. Best advice is toss morph ball bombs wherever you think you need them.
I find it odd how sunbreak is polarizing to players. I think it’s absolutely fantastic. Tons more to do and there’s already a ton of monsters in the game the variants aren’t that bad. They’re probably added because bigger stuff like velkhana needs time to implement
So none of the three companies that literally make this event possible hate going yet it’s still being held. Interesting choice. We really are seeing how stupid rich people ar ethers past 4 years.
We would be able to keep the wonderful Japanese theme in the same ish time as Arceus. Plus there would be some easy ancestral lines to create here. Notably Eugene the Suicune hunter himself. He even talks about his ancestors in heartgold so it’s just free storytelling. Plus there’s already lots of established history missed in Johto. Notably the burned tower as well as how Ho-Oh operated back in the time when the sages would perform ceremony with the rainbow wings. It keeps going on.
Well that’s the funny thing. Has no one told Atlus that these rules are illegal to propose? They are not allowed to tell a customer who owns the software what they can do with it. Only that they cannot steal the software. If they wish to record themselves or stream it live they may.
@Phon I haven’t even thought about this game. This thread did help me write it off my books. I don’t think I will be playing this. I’m sure it’s great for some people but I really don’t see myself enjoying it.
Digital always unless two specific circumstances for Nintendo switch only. 1. Cheaper 2. Saves space on micro sd for huge game file sizes DOOM, Witcher 3 etc.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Sea Of Stars
@ZealMajin they did big time. This game has nothing to do with Chrono trigger idk why they’re flying that badge. The battle system isn’t even ATB.

Cross save shouldn’t be that hard. I’m surprised they pretended it was for so long. Don’t store player save data in a crazy impractical way.
