Re: Feature: Our Gaming Predictions For 2023

Ocaz

Definitely looking forward to the new Zelda. Can’t imagine anything dethroning it this year. Really hope the long needed spec boost for the switch arrives soon. Really only looking forward to Silksong beyond Zelda. I hope we get an unexpected surprise this year that we could really use. I love getting things I didn’t know I wanted. But It’d be nice to finally get something we all want. Seems like Nintendo hasn’t provided the latter in quite a long time.

Re: Nintendo Isn't Happy About Switch Game Images On Steam

@Crono1973 well yes of course. There are hardly individuals that own copyright documentation in their name for an invention of theirs. Mr pizza has an elementary level of understanding about the law system both domestic and international. Emulation is not illegal, downloading a rom is not illegal. Distribution and profits from distribution are illegal but also exist in an area so gray it’s a black and white movie. There exists many places that sell shirts or merchandise containing Nintendos copyrights. Frankly, it doesn’t mean anything. If you actually are worried about getting in trouble for this don’t be. If not for you being totally safe in doing this then know you’d be one of the last they’d come for if you were to be targeted. As far as I know you aren’t selling Nintendo related anything just consuming. Most of nintendos cases get thrown out anyway. Courts are trying to be fair in taking their cases but it seems they are sick of seeing the same group of legal stooges come through the courthouse on a weekly basis.

Re: Nintendo Isn't Happy About Switch Game Images On Steam

Ocaz

@Crono1973 Don’t worry man. You emulating isn’t unlawful according to a court of law. Nintendo actually had that lie on their website for a while back in 2017 that they claim emulating a rom even one you own a physical of is unlawful. A court of law shut them down and they removed that literature from their site. Now they issue petty takedowns using letters of intent to scare people. The justice system is just as easily abused as any other system created.

@Crono1973 Homie, the man ur talking to has beliefs so outdated he probably still thinks Nintendo is a Hanafuda company… I’m entertained by this conversation but this dudes beliefs are objectively outdated. Just tryin to throw you a rope.

Re: Nintendo Isn't Happy About Switch Game Images On Steam

Ocaz

@Crono1973 Oh god definitely. I’m glad emulation exists so we can see how vile Nintendo is. Without emulation we wouldn’t know half of how corrupt they are. Grateful for it on many fronts. I would ignore the Nintendo ninja you are talking to and just let him see that his Nintendo paycheck arrives every week on time unchanged though emulation thrives behind the curtain.

Re: Nintendo Isn't Happy About Switch Game Images On Steam

Ocaz

This conversation got way out of line. How do these things always come to anti capitalism? Just let Nintendo squirm and spend their money trying to stop all of these non existent issues. They display anti consumer behavior so the consumers are expressing anti corporate behavior. It’s only fair.

Re: Nintendo Isn't Happy About Switch Game Images On Steam

Ocaz

@Crono1973 it’s a self fulfilling prophecy. If Nintendo stops emulators people will emulate in retaliation. I say let Nintendo squirm they deserve it. They really think this hurts their margins and it’s sad. I’m surprised most of the fossils that try to stop these actions even understand what an emulator is.

In the end, the way this vicious cycle ends is with Nintendo not the people. Fans of their stuff will always tinker with their software and hardware even with no malicious intent.

Re: Talking Point: Do You Name Your Pokémon?

Ocaz

I’m really bad at giving nicknames but I give all of mine names anyway. Usually give them generic names so it’s ironically funny in a bland and vanilla sort of comedy. Instead of waiting for a name to come to mind I start making sounds until I refine them to a name. Some are quick like naming my wigglytuff “Boof” others are complex like naming my Aerodactyl Brekolekis. They aren’t names outright but when attached to a Pokémon they start as just horrid sounds then become names after I play for a while and get my first “Dawinga came in clutch!” moment.

Re: Poll: So, Animal Crossing: New Leaf Or New Horizons - Which Do You Like Best?

Ocaz

No contest didn’t even read the article. New leaf. Much more content. Plus the store upgrades more than once and the other vendors have daily inventory instead of being a guest of the day.

Somehow horizons made them feel less special. These guys worked up to owning a storefront with the likes of Tom nook and they get punched back down to where they started as traveling vendors. That’s awful.

There’s many other gripes too but along with that there’s some good. Nothing will beat the original game on n64/GameCube there was much more content in that game than each subsequent entry. I loved being trusted with the lighthouse i made sure it was ok every day after school.

After the first game I don’t think the series used the game being on real time very much. It was just carried on but not utilized. Again many other things to say but I think I laid it out well.

Re: Video: New Switch Hardware Won't Stop Bad Ports

Ocaz

I agree with this post but would interject there are developers out there not as experienced as others. Some of these teams have the capability to port insane games like Witcher and No Man's Sky because they know what needs to be done and have been doing optimization for years. Hello Games has the experience of working on the same game for almost a decade so that thing is going to be so polished it will reflect and blind the sun itself. But the raw power is for those developers that need something to fall back on. It's not rude to say they lack the experience but giving developers who have REALLY good games some extra power to be lax on optimization because the hardware is also pulling its weight is not a bad thing. Right now it really feels like the battle for a consistent framerate with the best visuals achieveable rests 90% on the people creating the software and 10% the switch saying "ok I got this" there are some really good mobile chips out there and really the switch is in a spot where it can be refreshed every year or two with a new chip and it would sell like hotcakes for a decade.

Re: Review: Persona 5 Royal - Finally On Switch, This Is The Very Definition Of Essential

Ocaz

Finally this can be at rest. Thought I’m sure getting this game and a ps3 would’ve been around the same cost these days. I myself will never play this but I hope this sees success so other companies with prospects for game ports will think they should get their games on the switch. Really looking for new hardware though such an untapped market in switch ports due to barely possible hardware specs.

Re: Persona 5 Royal Switch Special Edition Will Take Your Heart, Pre-Orders Open

Ocaz

@PressTurn it was validated enough thank you. Therefore I will pass respectfully. I personally don’t see enough for it, but you do so that’s great. I see the side I’m standing on having others who shared my view coincidentally. However either side doesn’t mean anything, it just affirms that I haven’t seen much on the game and a single trailer on YouTube doesn’t account for much. Certainly wouldn’t call it the most anticipated port either, that would belong to the 2 Zelda ports yet to arrive for sure. The “objective” proof you state is just as anecdotal as you claimed mine was.

Re: It Takes Two Switch Physical Version Appears To Require A Download

Ocaz

@InJeffable yeah that is thinking way too far ahead. Your grandkids could easily just use a 2070 smartphone at the time to emulate everything after Nintendo is dust. For the next 3-5 years just look out for when they say the servers will be terminated entirely. External storage exists for this purpose. You can keep your console going if you grab some extra modules. But really your case is a small minority of the player base. It’s just a very vocal minority. After completing a game lots of players will rarely come back to it.

Re: Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Gets A Date For Its Next Major Free Update

Ocaz

@mikegamer ur trying to bargain on this pretty hard. It’s not a game for you. If you are interested in it then play it. Yes it has no end but that’s because the gameplay loop is skill based build based and self improvement based which are endlessly compelling systems. The game ends if you want it to by putting it down. Play or pass. Really not the advertising team for the game.

Re: It Takes Two Switch Physical Version Appears To Require A Download

Ocaz

Well here comes the physical obsessed. With the news of the handling of the 3ds and Wii U eshop I still find it difficult to advocate for a full physical collection when Nintendo has stated you’d be able to redownload your items for the foreseeable future even after store closure. The only thing I would complain about is man I’m split among 2 sd cards already. Why can’t Nintendo just add hard drive support to the usb ports on the dock.

Re: Fae Farm Promises The Depth Of Stardew Valley And The Charm Of Fantasy Life

Ocaz

There’s too many farm games now. It’s a rough market to compete in because of the time required to be spent in each game it won’t garner your farm game that much player population. Plus most farm games are very samey and are easy to just forget and put down. Distinguishing your game is important, put something wacky in it that generally doesn’t get used in casual game enclosures. Farming is very casual don’t mix it with another casual element. Take a non casual element and simplify it. Stardew did great with their combat whereas I think rune factory struggles with it. It’s too much of a part of the game without having much to it so you spend too long on an overly basic system whereas farming has many intricacies such as fertilizer placement large crops sales machinery cooking and more and combat is just bludgeoning someone to death.

Source: most of my time played in games are farming sims. I won’t pretend I’m being modest here I know what is good and what isn’t. This is my main genre.

Re: Two Castlevania Characters Join The Fight In Brawlhalla Next Month

Ocaz

Ah yes, the two that should’ve been playable in smash. I don’t like this game that much but at least they’re doing it right. I think people know who Simon and alucard are vs Simon and richter. They added the latter as full characters because it took less work to implement. Still salty about not being able to play as alucard. Every time I see his assist trophy I’m still disappointed.
