Re: Stardew Valley Has Sold Over 15 Million Copies

@moodycat well that’s the thing with letting others shape your opinion. It will get distorted and jaded. whenever I hear praise about a game I never go into saying “This better be good” I think to myself “we’ll see about that”

Such a small alteration but makes a big difference in mindset when going against or with the hype.

Re: Review: Baldo: The Guardian Owls - Exquisite Ghibli-Esque Art Can't Hide Tortuous Gameplay

This review reads like "My character isn't Doomslayer, bad game" The way you describe things to me sounds like you should take your time as though you would if this were real life. Stop walking into holes and expect to be ambushed in a monster lair. Seems to me the game is really trying to capture the feeling of self insertion. I typically never trust reviews from Nintendo Life that have "difficulty" as a pro or con in the summarized review. Reading the score and summary points is typically as far as I go with reviews for games I'm interested in to avoid spoilers or puzzle hints. But, wow! Such a low score for a game that looks like THIS? I had to check the comments. Seems like quite a lot of people don't like how this is written. (Yo, nintendolife I can write for ya, drop me a line :3 srsly) I'll definitely be giving this a try when it gets a sale and those bugs fixed.

Re: Review: No More Heroes III - A Swaggering Joke Of A Game That Suda51 Fans Will Love

I feel like 1 was really great. It was solid and knew what it was about. 2 had stupid cutscenes with Sylvia talking about some garbage the whole time. Like yada yada your being cryptic yet referential to the game as a whole but do u realize what exactly this game is? U swing lightsaber until someone's head comes off. Plus holy god some of the bosses and stages were the worst in 2. Don't fall off the roof or it will be a 10 minute walk back or lets fight 400 guys in a parking lot. And the Sniper boss just no. Awful all around. Ill pass on 3. I had zero fun with 2 and a lot with 1. Id rather just watch someone play it until I can't stand it anymore.

Re: Random: Smash Bros. Director Masahiro Sakurai Really Likes Coca-Cola Zero

Just saying you could write opinion pieces. Or just be open and admit there's a slow news day and just have a special article style for it. Make it fun. Gather the thoughts of the team on something nifty and write about it? You already do soapboxes what's the staff playing so why not something like staff recommends and have them make quick thoughts. Could be on anything. Shows books games. Maybe highlight the thing you gotta keep coming back to or lesser known entities.

Make it like "on slow days nintendolife can't help but think about.... blank."

On slow days Nintendo life can't help but think about what is even in those minecraft books in retail stores? Why do I keep trying Buster only in Megaman x?

Re: Random: Sakurai Doesn't Appreciate Being Featured In Some Memes

Ocaz

I respect it. After seeing memes as a whole for quite a few years you'd wish that only funny people or folks with something to say would make them. He has the right position and if he chose to shut down worthless ones I respect that too. Seems to be the ones that bother him most.

Re: Nintendo Switch Cheat Device Speeds Up Pokémon Shiny Hunting, And It's Proving To Be Controversial

Ocaz

I have one of these things. They're pretty cool. They work with a ton of different games. All it is to the switch is a controller because that really is all it does is use button macros. I like that you can use it as a Bluetooth dongle to use any controller you want on the switch too. It's a useful device and if anyone is threatened by having more competition then are you really competitive? It's not cheated It's just the person spent 20 dollars to not have to sit in front of the TV for hundreds of hours doing boring grinding for competitive ready Pokémon. And if people are to say that is a part of it then how small of a role does the actual battles play in competitive pokemon?

Re: Talking Point: What's Your Switch Game Of 2021 So Far?

Ocaz

Monster hunter rise is too good. I've never put 200 hours into a new release as fast as this game. I've tried every 3ds monster hunter and they're just terrible. But this one is just insane. It feels like I'm in control. I'm really glad that people enjoyed those games back where I couldn't so I can enjoy rise now. Already looking forward to Rise's equivalent to Iceborne. I need more monsters to fight new areas new gear I want it all. Give me two iceborne sized updates. Maybe 3. Thank you.

Re: Review: Mark Of The Ninja: Remastered - A Stellar Stealth Hit That's Better Than Ever

Ocaz

Well I cannot say this deserves a 9. Idk how you could give it something so high. This game deserves a 5 at best. It is so padded. And the final levels are just annoying. You become that guy who has to do the levels perfectly without getting caught because once caught the enemies know exactly where you are and where you are running from. Combined with awkward enemy placements like a dude walking around a spiked rooftop and a sniper in an untouchable spot to one hit kill you I'd say the last half of the game is really rushed. Plus taking your gear away because "plot" instead of a smart reason was just awful. Yeah you get ambushed but with everyone in the room no one grabbed anything? Aren't ninjas fast? Especially with what the story reason was that you were there. Gotta say I loved the pace before the second half, I was a blazing shadow in this arcadey stealth game then I think an intern or two took over for the last half.

Re: Fancy A Switch OLED For £800? Scalpers Are Already Flogging Pre-Orders

Ocaz

@blindsquarel na but giving someone a shot at an upgrade through an email or something isn't asking to be friends its just that there will be people who want it but cannot hover over Best Buy or gamestop like the unemployed scalper can. People like me. I work and have a busy personal life but would love to be able to get the new switch because I move around a lot and use handheld mode, this new model feels like it targets me and I will be glad to take it. Having a zero effort required shot at making a purchase on it would be very appreciated.

Re: Fancy A Switch OLED For £800? Scalpers Are Already Flogging Pre-Orders

Ocaz

@blindsquarel I don't see how what I said alludes to this conclusion you've drawn. But, if you are stemming from this and you think it is a problem then you are preaching in the wrong place. I don't think anyone sees Nintendo as a friend (unless you do because you are being specific on this) we just want hardware.

Re: Nintendo Confirms There's No CPU Or RAM Upgrade In The OLED Switch

Ocaz

the leaks about the 4k stuff and the 8gb ram thing make me think this new OLED one is testing the waters on "are people willing to buy an incremental upgrade."

Since the answer will be pretty much mixed on it I hope they get the results they're looking for to really amp up the next stage of switch upgrades. I must agree with Nintendo's approach on this. Not throwing everything into the one basket might be a good idea because it is definitely more expensive to make a new cpu/gpu SOC and ram modules than a few quality of life features plus an OLED screen. Im sure making a 720p OLED screen is pretty expensive though but apparently not as much as a new SOC and having to adjust the games that exist to work there or take advantage of more ram.

Re: Video: Are 2D Games Worth $60?

Oh nintendolife. Posting more controversial crap that is the thoughts of Twitter users instead of your own. U got the clicks. Can we lock comments and move on? Thanks darling. Games are worth what people will pay. End of story.
