Re: Hori Reveals Three New Colours For Its Split Pad Pro Switch Controller

Nice, it was kinda weird that only a Daemon X Machina special edition existed before the regular ones

Anyway, I wonder if the bigger analog sticks actually compensate for the lack of gyro 🤔 that's the biggest bummer for me, it won't totally replace the joy-cons, as besides no gyro, some games that use motion like Mario Odyssey (cap tricks) and Zelda (tilt puzzles) would be slightly impacted

Still, they look pretty confortable, probably I'll pick one when it has stock, maybe the red one

Too bad I'll probably will be swapping back to the joy-cons depending on the game

Re: Lots Of DOOM Games, Skyrim And Wolfenstein Are All 50% Off On Nintendo Switch

@NEStalgia yep

I think the 'tax' is because of the physical versions, cartridges are still kinda expensive and they bump the digital price so that people still want to opt to buy physical

I think digital-only games mostly match pricing from other platforms... and if later there's a physical Limited Run version it'll always be way more expensive

Also looks like the demand curve is different for Switch owners as even with its relatively high price, Skyrim is currently #6 on the US eshop

Buy Creaks y'all

It has a nice hand drawn art style and interesting setting and mechanics

You're at some kind of a magical place with furniture monsters that become regular furniture when in contact with light

I thought Amanita Design games (Machinarium, Botanicula, Samorost, and now Creaks) were more popular =(

Re: Untitled Goose Game Might Be Getting A Physical Release On Nintendo Switch

NullPointerExcep

Ouch cartridges clearly give Switch games a price bump
I think that digital-only/first games will always be cheaper as they don't have to match the physical release price... Likewise, supposedly 'overpriced' stuff like A Hat in Time, had physical versions at launch. I wonder how much does it cost to actually produce those cartridges, maybe Nintendo is taking a hit on profits from physical releases? Still, as the platform holder it makes sense, but it doesn't that much for third parties

Re: Crysis Remastered Switch eShop File Size Revealed

@mesome713 I'm with you that I wouldn't spend that much money on a gaming computer, but I think sometimes this is a bit wrongly headed, like, 2d games actually can have better graphics than 3d downgraded ones... I don't care that much for just realistic graphics without a proper art direction, like, maybe Call of Duty and PUBG and stuff, it's just the 'good' part that bothers me, 3d graphics aren't always better than 2d ones. I think that stuff like Nidhogg 1 actually have good graphics as they follow an unique and nice style and were meant to be played that way.
Still, this Crysis version looks fine 🤷‍♂️

Re: Crysis Remastered Switch eShop File Size Revealed

NullPointerExcep

@TG16_IS_BAE yep, the only thing that maybe justifies the name is that it's 'based on the pc remaster', not on the original one, so probably it's on a newer engine so it'll run better than it would with similar graphical settings on the old engine. But also, I'm fine with it not being a giant file size, like that's a bug and not a feature 🤷‍♂️

Re: People Keep Buying The Wrong Pokémon Sword And Shield DLC

NullPointerExcep

@Eel oops that's true
I had in mind that some publishers gave discounts on the eshop based on games you already owned, but I don't know how that works for physical ones
Maybe Nintendo didn't want to force people to register their physical games, so they let DLCs open for purchase instead
Interesting 🤔

Re: Guide: Guerrilla Collective 2020 - Every Nintendo Switch Game Revealed

@RickD hmm somewhat a hot take

Indies are way too broad of a group, what you said applies better to AAA games, which are mostly sequels and mostly shooters

Yeah I agree that there's a lot of retro-styled ones that are homages to something

But what about Gorogoa, Baba is You, Obra Dinn, Nidhogg, Goose Game, Night in the Woods etc. Also from this stream, what about No Straight Roads, Minute of Islands?
You simply can't get that variety outside of the indie space, big companies won't put money on riskier stuff

Re: Ubisoft's Gods & Monsters Really Does Look Like Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

NullPointerExcep

Yep that climbing surely was similar
I wonder if they will replicate the 'chemistry' system, and the 'you can go anywhere including straight to the final boss' thing
What makes BotW stand out is it's true openness with no necessary sequence of boxes to check, plus its physics and 'chemistry' systems allowing some improvisation
I'd welcome new titles like that for sure, though I'm skeptical about what even BotW 2 can do to improve this openness thing

Re: Hacker Group Not Happy About Nintendo's "Censorship" And "Legal Scare Tactics"

NullPointerExcep

Well they have a point, there are a lot of legitimate uses for it, like running Android and playing Stadia on the Switch, how cool is that?

Still, let's face it, those modchips would be mostly used for piracy

Tricky stuff, though one thing on Nintendo's side is that at least on some ads I saw it was quite clearly cattering to piracy

Maybe they could slash their "backup" capabilities 🤔

Re: Feature: Best Nintendo Switch Graphics - The Most Beautiful Switch Games

NullPointerExcep

Luigi's Mansion is probably the best technically with more complex lightning and animations used in those tiny rooms
But Zelda is just stunning (when it doesn't drop resolution)
Nice to see Arms there, it has has some pretty nice looks and animations
Splatoon 2 looks great too, and could be included
In the end, the best looking 3d games are the ones made specifically for the console, maybe with the exception of the Feral Games ports

Btw, didn't know about Kingdom: Two Crowns, maybe I'll pick it on sale
