One of the highlights of the Nintendo Mini Direct presentation was the announcement EA would be bringing Criterion's Burnout Paradise Remastered to the Switch at some point this year.
The reveal trailer simply said it was coming in 2020, but what month exactly? Well, according to the EA Poland website, the game will be pulling up on Nintendo's hybrid system this June – with pre-orders supposedly opening on 23rd April. Here's a screen capture of the translated game page. Note: the price equates to $49.99 / £44.99.
At the moment, Nintendo's website still has the game down as a '2020' release. Whenever it does arrive, this version will be packed with eight pieces of DLC, more than 130 vehicles to write-off, additional areas to explore and "hundreds" of online challenges. It'll also run at a smooth 60fps and will include "pinch-and-pull map control" for ease of navigation.
Do you think June is a likely release date for Burnout Paradise Remastered on Switch? Will you be adding it to your own game library? Tell us below.

For those skeptical about this one, I personally find it better than any of the modern NFS games, for whatever that's worth. Of course I still wish they would go back to the series roots, but EA doesn't seem to care for this series anymore.
Depending on the price tag, I will most likely pick it up.
What year is June
Meaning, we have XCDE, Bioshock, Borderlands, The Outer Worlds and Burnout Paradise coming out in a relatively short timespan.
Just give us that game already!
Seriously though, I only have fond memories of that game, chilling with my games while crashing our cars unrecognizeable
I remember playing the online demo for this a lot on the 360 back when me and my friends were all young and didn't have money to buy new games most of the time. I might finally try the full thing on Switch.
@nhSnork
And on a Nintendo console
Its just been confirmed that as a pre order bonus, you will get Burnout 3 !
Basically everything I've wanted porting is coming. Just need Arkham games and red dead and I'm a happy bunny (and of course anything Nintendo want to port over.)
@617Sqn In the words of The Backstreet Boys, "Quit playing games with my heart."... This true?
If it's cheap enough I might pick it up, it's a good game but earlier entries are much better. This was a victim of the open world for the sake of open world generation
Physical? Please don’t end up like GRID.
Never got around playing this one. Played a Burnout on the GameCube and that was pretty good. I think I skipped this one because it didn’t have the crash mode. I loved that mode so much.
@617Sqn what?
I am really interested in this but whether I buy it or not depends on what price tag EA put on it and knowing what EA are like, I'm not holding my breath
1080p@60 I might pick it up
On the English website it says $49.99
My first thought is, 'yikes', but my second thought is that it's possible that the game is fully on the cartridge and they've had to bump the price
https://www.ea.com/games/burnout/burnout-paradise-remastered/buy/nintendo-switch?isLocalized=true
Reasons not to buy it for me personally
1. E.A.= scum
2. E.A.= scum
3. E.A.= scum
4. E.A.= scum
5. pice probably too high
6. no Switch footage
7. old
8. no anolog triggers
9. E.A. = scum
We meet again, EA Games
It’s only published by EA criterion were the original devs it’s a great game have it on PS4 just have to ignore the fact that it had EA attached to it
Any other Burnout game and I’d be excited. Bounced off this one pretty hard when it originally came out. MUCH prefer the earlier games
@Varubajia Burnout doesn't really need analogue triggers. If you are driving with caution, you are playing it wrong lol.
Played Burnout 1 and 2 to death. These days though, Asphalt 9 scratches my itch just fine.
@Piyo I agree they buy a dev make a few games then completely kill that once excellent series of games that’s the EA way but I really enjoyed paradise it’s no takedown or revenge but a decent game nonetheless I mean they were published by acclaim originally another dodgy publisher but criterion still produced some fantastic games
Forget this,I’d rather just play nfs on PS4
For me, Burnout 2 was the pinnacle of the series. 3 overcomplicated itself and ruined Crash-For-Cash by adding powerups and requiring track knowledge for the best score.
I fondly remember sitting with all sorts of random mates, smoking and seeing who could get the biggest crash. It was pure fun and everyone had a pretty much equal chance of stacking their motor gloriously.
I think I played Paradise for about 10 minutes. Really didn't get on with how it played, even though I like the open-world idea when I first heard about it.
@Varubajia now an arcade racer with an emphasis on crashes is unplayable without "anolog triggers", too. I'm amazed even Mario Kart sells on this God-forsaken console.
As for EA, chances are you're not on their Christmas card list either.
Been playing the remastered for like 2 hours a couple of weeks back on XBX. I thought I might have misjudged the game last time around on last-gen, but honestly ... it looks miles better than Revenge, but even given that, I much rather play Revenge any day of the week. Revenge runs very smoothly on the XBX and still looks alright to this day, the music is still aces obviously and it just plays fantastically. The sense of speed is great and the take-downs are a lot of fun. Hell, there are a bunch of games, like say Split/Second I would absolutely recommend over Paradise.
I for one play BurnOut for the sense of speed, the takedowns and the boost-"management", if you will. I think takedowns and thus boosting really take a back-seat in Paradise compared to Revenge. Personally, I found no joy in plotting my own route to vicotry, esp. not since often, I was on one street and the competition on another. Not much takeing-down going on then obviously ... maybe I was playing wrong, dunno, don't care.
Alas, Revenge is about as likely to come to Switch as FFVII Remake ... so it is kinda of take-it-or-leave-it situation. In that case, I'd leave it and play Mario Kart 8.
I don't trust the scum bags, EA at all.
This will probably cost full price (£40+), it'll probably be poorly ported and suffer from performance issues, partly because of the lack of experience EA has with the Switch but mostly because EA are being forced to do this by their investors, they've made more than enough comments on their stance on the Switch and Nintendo. This just popped out of the blue.
The main reason this will fail and will hopefully spell the end for EA on any Nintendo platform for good.
Because Nintendo fans won't buy back into their crap. I genuinely think there is no room for them to sell games to us anymore. They had that chance and I think it's done with.
I hope these clowns drop support when this is over.
Edit: no to mention that this game isn't that good to begin with.
@Beermonkey GTA as well but yeah. For sure. I can't wait for Bioshock and The Outer World's looks great too.
Although I do like this game, and I'd also like to play it on the Switch, there's part of me that just doesn't want to support EA, petty as that may sound. They're just always doing something to tick me off.
Like sneakily putting in a derogatory sentence in the promotional text/description on the website:
"for the first time in history - available in the mobile version"
which to me very much sounds like they STILL don't see the Switch as a full-fledged game console, and if that's the case, then it's a very back-handed comment, to put that in there.
Great game! Super nice EA decided to keep on supporting the Switch!
I am glad EA didn't bring their modern Need for Speed games. Need for Speed hasn't been interesting since Most Wanted.
It only took EA 3 years to release a non FIFA game on Switch. Would have preferred Dead Space trilogy, Mass effect trilogy, Titanfall, Dragon age, Battlefield etc but at least this is a start.
@ThanosReXXX wow I missed that comment.
Don't worry it isn't petty to not support EA.
The sooner they go out of business the better off the industry would be as a whole.
@Razer For now, I'll still give them the benefit of the doubt, seeing as this is on a Polish website and not yet the official announcement of the release date, but if it's still in there afterwards, then we'll know...
I'm not a fan of EA's support of Switch so far (and I don't hide it either lol!) but if this is done right, then I will happily buy this game. Plants Vs Zombies and Sims would be perfect for Switch too.
I will wait for the Dangerous Driving 2 release before buying either of these games.
@ThanosReXXX i would like to know if the rumours about the price is correct. Someone mentioned here earlier.
That price would kill this on arrival with or without that ridiculous comment.
Rumoured price is $50. Which would be £40 for me.
That's a hard pass no matter how the game turns out.
The CAD preorder price is listed at $64.99. So the $49.99 USD price makes sense
It's currently £4.99 on Xbox, gonna pick it up on there.
I will be picking this up eventually. Fantastic game and its a great fir for the switch. The price is very offputting at the moment so will probably wait for a sale. Def recommend the game though, tons of fun and lots to do!
June ? Hope so, it’s a Stella racer..one of my faves
For more than those who are not in the know... Dangerous Driving 2 is made by a number of programmers and designers who were involved in those earlier Burnout games. Three car-themed releases so far have been able to provide limited (The 2 Crash-style) experiences, and the first Dangerous Driving improved quite a bit after being patched a number of times. Question is... Three Fields is promising open world ala Paradise, but will they be offering a Crash-type online mode, which for me, was the most fun to be had online with Takedown and Revenge.
@Varubajia
Grid had analog trigger support through the gamecube controller adapter. Not sure if this will, but it's possible it will get it.
EA: "whoa, switches are selling out left and right. I guess there is money to be had porting games to it"
switch fans "this is a nice start, how about some Madden now?!?!"
@carlos82 open world is always better.
@FargusPelagius The Deadspace and Mass Effect trilogys would be welcome additions to the switch library. I wouldnt mind replaying those on the go.
@HXLXIII they aren't though, they can be but not every game is better for it
If this was Burnout Legends I’d be all over it. Paradise is just a poor mans Forza Horizon.
@carlos82
Yeah this open world obsession is a shame. There seems to be a generation that think if a game isn’t open world its worthless. Whereas the original Burnout games are far superior with their tight, well-designed tracks.
@Razer Yeah, 50 would definitely be WAY too much. However, I honestly wouldn't be too surprised, what with all 8 DLC packs and all cars included, so EA probably thinks that this will be worth that kind of price. Guess we'll find out soon enough.
So nobody at NintendoLife got the idea to open that Polish EA site, at the bottom click on the UK button and post that image instead.
For those wondering I did, 44.99 UK pounds and 49.99 in euro.
That is still more than the 39.99 in euro they asked for the remaster on other systems, I will wait for a at least a 60% sale on this one.
(kind of annoying this overpriced old games thing lately, on the Switch that is a big issue but on other systems it exists too sadly, however there games tend to go quicker cheap)
@ThanosReXXX it is 50 euro
@electrolite77 Forza Horizon is indeed better in many regards (btw Burnout Paradise came out before the first Horizon game (2012 so 3 years later)
Ready to burn some rubber? At 65 Canadian dollars, not bloody likely.
@Rayquaza2510 Meaning? I never said it wasn't.
I think most companies are now releasing ports of their games on the switch because they can get away with over pricing them. Increase of market aside, they can charge more here do to the lack of competition, have it stated as "new" despite it being out for a year everywhere else, and not have to fix bugs from the previous release in order to capitalize on a new medium.
In other words, buy it else where. If you really want it, PC has the original (no mp) and remaster. Or other current gen systems. Also like other people said analog is built into this game, so you lose that ability.
$45? Ouch. I picked it up on the PS4 for $10. It physically hurt me to give money to EA but I really love the game. It's nice to have an open-world racer with arcade controls rather than a driving sim, which I'm not a fan of.
$50? This game costs $5 at full price on the XBox One X.
So a lot more expensive than elsewhere, good job this Switch tax isn't a real thing 🙄
@Dethmunk Yeap considering it's a port of a last gen game it shouldn't had any problem running at 60fps same with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Fast RMX which were also ports of last gen games.
$50 for this? Madness, it's an old game that should be selling at $20 tops.
The pricing IS an issue for a port of a 3-year old remaster of a 12-year old game!
I will get it, but I'll wait awhile.
Just like EA got it to Switch, but waited awhile.
EA cannot be trusted.
@Dethmunk In the trailer above at 1:25 at the bottom of the screen in tiny letters it say's footage captured on pc.
Awesome now if we could just get the Mass Effect Trilogy would love to have those on Switch 😁
Would love to have Andromeda too but I’m not gonna hold my breath
Imagine EA making an actual Burnout 4...🤤
@617Sqn Post a source, or else you're deemed to be completely lying. I can't find a single mention of such a claim.
@EVIL-C somebody elsewhere mentioned a game called Dangerous Driving
It's basically a spiritual successor, made by the Burnout creators, who went indie
Its sequel to it will come to the Switch maybe this year
A trailer for the original:
https://youtu.be/3icPCpqd9_Y
@Low Nintendo's own page lists both a physical and digital release in Europe. It says "Nintendo Switch card" in the details section: https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch/Burnout-Paradise-Remastered-1748605.html#gameDetails
For those wondering about price, the page in the article literally lists the price in Polish Zloty, 199. That roughly 44€ at today's current exchange rate so yeah, the price of a full new release, which is to say the price the remastered costed n other platforms the day it came out on those. Yes, it is now much cheaper on other platforms, but it wasn't so out of the gate. Wait long enough and the price will go down on Switch as well. D'huh!
@NullPointerExcep Ah yes, I'm familiar with Dangerous Driving and it's upcoming sequel. Thanks.
Everyone beat me to the price complaint, kudos! But yes, it's a 12 year old game. This was one I was super-excited for, but ... not anymore. I expected $20.
Godfather on Blu ray.... FULL price?!?!? Crazy it’s a port of an old film.
Analogue triggers for burnout??!?!? 😂😂😂😂😂 Did someone really ask for that?? Racing snob... all the lingo and no clue.
These comments have entertained. Comedy gold
physical or bust.
@Varubajia Yeah, I have this on Steam. Can't say I'd want to double dip on this one. At best I may get inspired to plug my pro controller into the PC & give it another try.
i knew ea would screw the switch version by jacking the pprice up.
@technotreegrass no it would actually be like $55 as it seems to be £45.
That's just ridiculous but I expected nothing less from EA.
Yeah I'm good thanks. Borderlands and The Outer World's will be enough come June.
I bet it'll be digital only as well at like 25+ gigs. Lol.
@Razer https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/burnout-paradise-remastered-switch/14539390
https://www.ebgames.ca/Switch/Games/787256/burnout-paradise-remastered
Seems to be physical (card/no card?), but could still require a download. 🤔
@UltraVideoGamer do you have a foot fetish cuz this is the second foot related comment I see you make today.
not judging, just curious.
Burnout used to be the s*** when I was younger
Dominator in particular was among my first PSP games and I played the original Paradise over at a friend's house after school around 4th grade
A definite cop for me, among a lot of other third party stuff announced in the Direct
Day one purchase. Unless Dangerous Driving 2 drops around the same time... ; )
Tough sell when Asphalt Legends 9 is free. The two are pretty similar.
@EVIL-C to be honest mate, they could release this for £15, make it physical, include a download code for the first and second games and it could be exclusively on the Switch and no other platform with a personal apology note from their CEO to anyone who buys it and I still WOULD NEVER BUY IT.
I am never supporting these clowns again and I have not purchased a single one of their crap since Mass Effect 3, I live for the day they go out of business when people get fed up of their "surprise mechanics".
@GrailUK I loved Burnout Paradise, one of my favourite racing games all time and played on xbox360 with analog triggers. When I bought the spiritual sequel NFS: Most Wanted on WiiU, I couldn't play the game because of the lack of analog triggers. It was so annoying to play with digital triggers, I didn't feel like I had proper control of the car. Maybe ok in racing, but when you are puttering around in a open world, analog triggers are a must.
2020!!! And we talk about THIS Title as a new release? Cmon!
Bring new good racing games. Why this old stuff?
@booopn Aww, well hopefully they enable gamecube controller compatibility for you
This was one of the very few games on PC that I really wanted to grab back in the day. This will most likely be a day one buy as long as the full game is on the cartridge.
$50?!?
Hahahahahahahaha...NOPE!
I absolutely love Burnout Paradise, and I’ve wanted this game on Switch since the console launched, but that’s an absurd price for a game that’s barely remastered. I bought it for under $20 on PS4, and any visual improvements are barely noticeable.
Of course, if people don’t buy it then EA will say...”see, we told you gamers didn’t want our back catalog on Switch!” 🤦♂️😡
@Varubajia
The only thing on your list is chance is that it’s old.
It’s still my favorite racing game ever, followed closely by Blur.
@Dethmunk
I’d love Blur on Switch! It’s basically the love child of Mario Kart and Burnout, and it’s a shame Activision shut the studio down before they were able to release a sequel. I still can’t fathom how the game didn’t sell well.
Enjoyed this game on 360 and would go for it on Switch but not at full price! The game is currently remastered on XBX1 for £4.99
@Razer lol
@electrolite77 Yeah I think the whole open world racing thing was sort of a new concept when Burnout Paradise originally released over a decade ago which is why it was so highly regarded, but over time that became a very common and heavily used direction so the drawbacks are far more apparent now a days. The track design has really suffered as a result, and early examples can be hard to go back to.
When I played the game again on my PS4 I felt letdown, most likely due to how many open world racing games I have played since then, one of those cases where nostalgia is a big deal. The infinite shifting is one thing that really shows off it's age, I counted over 100 upshifts when I was driving a car down the highway one time. It's one of those things where it wasn't a big deal back in the day, but now a days the genre has really moved past that. It's fine at a low price, but when when they price it at a premium it isn't up to the standards of today.
@JayJ
That’s a great summary. I played it a lot back on the PS3 and even with the irritations I stuck with it but it’s been superseded now. First Criterion did it with NFS:MW and then the Forza Horizon games really ran with the format (and those coloured arrows really make all the difference when you don’t know the tracks). Great shout about the up shifts too. I’d forgotten that aspect.
@Rayquaza2510
Yeah Paradise came before Forza (though after Test Drive Unlimited). It’s often the case that the first isn’t the best example as a format gets refined over time.
@UltraVideoGamer Nah, toes are not my jam.
@617Sqn Where did you hear about this preorder bonus?
