Re: You'll Be Able To Buy The Borderlands And Bioshock Games Separately On The Switch eShop

NullPointerExcep

@Moistnado oof that just shows how insane the pricing is on the Switch, be it because of the cart or porting overhead costs or novelty factor or something

I wonder how well those $60 ports sell, I mostly ignore them, it's kinda a bold move being the same price as Nintendo exclusives on a Nintendo platform
The only $40+ games I've bought were exclusives
The Witcher 3 is a 'maybe' for me though, just for the porting effort and for using the 32gb cart

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 28th)

NullPointerExcep

I'll pick some of the FF from the Square Enix sale, never properly played them before
For some reason I think I'll play FFVIII first, I liked its art style a bit more than the cartoonish style from the other two on ps1
I kinda want to buy Animal Crossing too but I don't know, it'll will probably take over everything and my backlog won't get smaller

Re: Random: Brie Larson Says She's More Than Happy To Be In An Animal Crossing Movie

NullPointerExcep

@Stocksy nah I just remember Marvel fans getting pissed about how she responded to the Thor actor, like, she was commenting that she makes the movie stunts, to a interviewer or something, and Thor went 'looks like we got the next Tom Cruise here', and she said something like 'I'd rather be the next me, thank you'
That's it
People who didn't know Oscar-winner Brie Larson before thought she was disrespecting the Thor guy and the almighty god and scientologist Tom Cruise 🤷 instead of, y'know, just saying she isn't trying to copy anybody
Then the broflake army spawned as there was another woman to hate and here we are

Re: Random: Twitch Chat Just Beat The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

NullPointerExcep

That was interesting
I didn't saw the whole video but liked some bits
He put them in front of a Lynel once and the chat spammed backflips to safety lol
They've found some bomb arrows, immediately proceeded at unloading them at Link's face
Anyway it's also really cool when it works, like when they've beat one of those "small guardians inside shrines" by spamming side-steps and Y's

Re: Nintendo Places Third In Metacritic's 2019 Game Publisher Rankings

NullPointerExcep

@nessisonett hmm maybe the Switch is still not that appealing for Wii U owners?
What do you play on the Wii U that makes you spend more time on it than on the Switch?
Personally, from the last couple of years from Nintendo, I'd bought immediately only Smash Ultimate from 2018, and Luigi's Mansion 3 from 2019
But 2019 was a good year though overall, wasn't it? There's stuff that I'm still planning to try (Astral Chain and Link's Awakening)

Re: Nintendo Places Third In Metacritic's 2019 Game Publisher Rankings

NullPointerExcep

@nhSnork I do agree people should not take those digits as gospel, any sampling has a margin of error, plus the scores are subjetive by nature
Buut, a 85 metascore game is probably more quality than a 75, isn't?
Can you give some examples that maybe pissed you? Just for curiosity
I for one loved some 70s like Furi and Gato Roboto
Maybe we could have an alternative, with percentage of people that liked it, like Rotten Tomatoes?
In the ends these numbers are just other people's opinions though, more like a guide than the definitive 'what should you buy'

Re: Video: We've Played Pokémon Rival Temtem, And We Can't Wait For It To Hit Switch

NullPointerExcep

I have my doubts if this one is actually good or if people simply are praising it because of the Pokémon controversy
At least the visuals are good though, I hope the gameplay is nice as well (though I saw comments about the style being in a uncanny valley of almost anime but not quite)
But really, people made fun of ShSw finally having a rotating camera, this one doesn't even have that... maybe the MMO elements give it more appeal I don't know

Re: UK Gaming Revenue Falls For The First Time Since 2012, Best-Selling Games Of 2019 Revealed

NullPointerExcep

@dougphisig yeah they bought Double Fine 😢 no more Tim Schafer games for the other platforms
Also I gotta admit Xbox got my interest after they sent Cuphead, Ori and Hellblade to the Switch
But yeah, Sony still has the most OP studios so PS5 is kinda the safer buy if you have to choose between the next-gen systems, but I think that Xbox can surprise people this time

Re: Talking Point: Astral Chain Proved That New IP Can Still Succeed In 2019

NullPointerExcep

I guess the problem is handling a big budget to games without brand recognition, it's always a risk
Maybe sometimes the brand is the studio name idk, but still, it's a lower budget compared to stabilished franchises like DMC, and probably Bayonetta at this point
Anyway, even though the sales were lower than other exclusives, it's nice to see that new IP with new ideas still have some space, games have way too many sequels

Re: Feature: Our Most Anticipated Nintendo Switch Games Of 2020

NullPointerExcep

I only played the mobile Animal Crossing and kinda liked it, but stopped playing after a while, charming but a lot repetitive. I'm curious for the real deal now, as I've heard that the last one had so many lines written that players may not encounter all of them

Aside from it, I'm interested in Axiom Verge 2, and NMH3 for sure

Wishing for Switch announcements of Outer Wilds, Disco Elysium and Supraland

Re: Feature: The Best Hidden Gems And Underrated Switch Games Of 2019

NullPointerExcep

I'll add

Crossniq+
So hidden you didn't review it
Btw it's only $1 now that's on sale, it's one of those score-attack puzzles, in this one you rotate rows and columns in a grid to create crosses of the same color. There's some special blocks and some special habilities in versus mode, all in a dreamcast-inspired soundtrack and aesthetic

Invisigun Reloaded - basically you're invisible and you only show up when you bump into something or use your weapon. Versus matches are kinda the core of the game but there's a single player mode that's kinda like a series of puzzles. Every character has a special hability.

Also I recently picked a game (it has a nice discount right now) called The Aquatic Adventure of the Last Human, it's a Metroidvania but it's underwater and you're controlling a submarine, there's some interesting sea life and boss sea monsters, all in a nice artstyle and soundtrack

Re: Best Of 2019: How David Lynch’s Twin Peaks Influenced The Legend Of Zelda Series

NullPointerExcep

@nintendolie hm kinda, it had some good moments, and it got some awards nominations
Part 8 is awesome, part 4 has a interesting re-meeting, also the season finale was... something
But it dragged a lot, that Dougie sub-plot felt like a big filler, also there's stuff like a long scene of someone sweeping the floor without ever reaching a spot just to get on your nerves or something
It's Lynch at its best and worst sometimes, but more positive overall
It's the craziest of all the three seasons, like, it starts with somebody staring at a glass cube, then in another scene the police finds a head next to a headless body that don't belongs to it
But in the process it lost the old seasons' charm, like, behind the charismatic characters and the soap-opera-y feel, there was something weird, unnerving, that was getting more and more intense along the way
The newest one sometimes felt like it was just trying to out-weird itself, sometimes it didn't work but yeah, there's nothing like season 3

Re: Former Nintendo Of America President Reggie Says The Future Of Games Is In The Cloud

NullPointerExcep

@TAndvig well that escalated quickly

Not sure if that's a elaborate troll or not, but that site has like conspiracies about vaccines, global warming and stuff

When it comes to 5g, that site swings from 'nobody knows its actual effects' to 'I had bad health for half a year, definitely it was the 5g'

P.s.: I hope we and the whales and the birds will survive lol, I get where you're coming from, this is the same to pesticide stuff isn't it, I didn't think much about it, just was suspicious of the over-the-top text
But yeah, taking a look, even 3g has negative effects, that's... worrying

Re: Gleamlight Publisher Responds To Accusations Of Game Being A Hollow Knight "Ripoff"

NullPointerExcep

@Pod agreed agreed, but I was just trying to show that HK and GL simply have more similarities between them than anything else
Still kinda baffled people don't see where comparisons are coming from, you just dismissed it as just both being hand-drawn, somebody else just dismissed it as both having tiny characters with a tiny sword in caves, and yeah, it's both, plus character movement, and dark souls inspired story-telling
To be fair, the designs are not bug-themed plus the upgrades could be drastically different, but for what was shown, they're similar
Still, kinda evil calling it a rip-off, at least reviews will clear things up

Re: Gleamlight Publisher Responds To Accusations Of Game Being A Hollow Knight "Ripoff"

NullPointerExcep

Well, it's suspiciously close, people who say otherwise probably never played Hollow Knight, it has lots of areas and some of them were similar to the ones in Gleamlight, plus... everything else? Lightning, movement...
Even if you say there's nothing wrong with inspiration, the developers denied inspiration themselves
I'll give them the benefit of doubt though, maybe it was just unfortunate, must feel so bad releasing your work and something else pretty similar was released first
