One game we would really love to see make its way across to the Nintendo Switch, is the recently announced Activision title, Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time.
So far, the Toys for Bob-developed game has been confirmed for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and is arriving this October. What about other platforms, like Switch and PC? PCGamesN spoke to an Activision representative, and here's what they said:
“We are still evaluating additional platforms for a future date. Stay tuned for more information.”
With any luck, the Switch is a part of these plans, and Activision locks in a date soon.
A delayed release wouldn't be all that surprising, considering how the original trilogy - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy - was exclusive to the PS4 for an entire year, and was then released on Switch, Xbox One, and PC. Toys for Bob's other game, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, also got a delayed release on Switch and PC.
Do you think there's a chance of Crash Bandicoot 4 showing up on the Switch in the future? Tell us down below.

They like money so I think it's a given it will eventually come to the switch.
I will take a look the gameplay first. 🤔
Whether will be on Switch or not, if it doesn't make a cut, i might consider the PS4 version instead.
@HappyMaskedGuy oh kid you so funny.
Switch seems like a no-brainer, I'm surprised it wasn't confirmed in the first place.
@HappyMaskedGuy Do enlighten us with the platformers we should play instead.
They're probably planning to bring it to Switch later but won't announce it until the initial release has had a good run to maximise on the number of people who double dip.
@HappyMaskedGuy
I don't think Crash is a trash.
It's a no brainier.
@Fazermint @Anti-Matter @JokerCK
Them pesky opinions, eh?
I hope it does, Activision released lot's of title's for Wii U but not surprisingly few sold in any large quantity, if any...
This likely made them weary with the Switch, even though it's sold extremely well they now only port very few title's to the platform...
Basically only those they are sure will sell well.. Makes business sense..
I think all we have had is a Skylanders game at launch, 2 x Crash games and the Spyro Trilogy... Luckily it seems to be quality over quantity this time around....
@HappyMaskedGuy
Please do not trolling us here if you don't like with Crash Bandicoot games.
We have no idea the game performance of Crash 4.
Wait and see until the game has been played and reviewed then we can give some opinions.
Mobile devices for sure. I’m sure a game like this will come to Switch eventually.
Switch should have been the lead platform that would have solved all of this it even might have led to it running at 60fps on PS4.
@Beermonkey call of duty never made it to switch. They didn't like that money.
@Anti-Matter Holding and expressing an opinion which differs from your own is not trolling.
By that logic I could accuse you of trolling for liking Crash games.
Which ARE trash, by the way. Tacky, poorly made rubbish.
Now get back under your bridge.
@HappyMaskedGuy I think the original games were pretty decent by PS1 standards but just haven't aged particularly well. From what I've seen so far, the new one doesn't look like it'll change much to address that so I'll likely pass even if it does come to Switch.
@HappyMaskedGuy
Then it has to be 10-million-worth of trash because the N. Sane trilogy sold over 10 million units.
At the price they are charging, £60 in the UK, I fully expect a strategic double dip is involved here.
Opinions are opinions and each person can have their own. The only thing I don't like about Crash N.sane Trilogy is 30 FPS. Apart from that, it is a lovely and generous remakes collection. But no, it's no Super Mario or Banjo-Kazooie.
@sixrings very true but crash sold really well on Switch so fan base is already in place. Call Of Duty would sell shed loads as well if it were to hit.
Please PLEASE P L E A S E !
Same as what happened with Crash Trilogy, CTR and Spyro Trilogy: they sell it in some platforms first, and where there's no more sales there, they'll release it in the rest (Switch included). So expect to see it on Switch around half a year later.
It's apparently giving them quite a lot of money, but it's worst for us consumers. They have no more excuses.
Honestly, I'm not giving them any more money. I'm sick of this nonsense. If the game is any good, I'll get it eventually in a huge sale, or just second hand.
At the begining, everything was ok. But when this happened three times already, and about to happen a fourth, you know something weird is going on.
@RareFan McDonalds sells plenty of burgers. Don’t make it good food.
I assume this means they wanna finish the game first and then work on downgrading the graphics for the game to run well on Switch. It's fine I was going to buy it on PS4 anyways.
What exactly are they evaluating at this point? It will sell. The Switch is a viable platform. I mean, if it's to evaluate whether the game could run on the Switch, why not just say that?
@HappyMaskedGuy I'm in agreement with you. I remember not liking it on PS1 but thought I must be wrong cause everyone loves it. Bought the trilogy recently to give it another chance but it's just really bad. The controls are awful.
If anything, it's a game that will play perfectly fine at 30fps ^^
@BenAV I didn’t like the Crash games even at the time. Always thought the platforming was poor, the level design was restrictive and overly basic, and the world and character designs were unoriginal and tacky. And Crash himself is just detestable—ugly and irritating as hell.
But that’s just my opinion. I’m sure I love lots of things that people could give good reasons for hating.
@FredBiletnikoff By comparison, Super Mario 3, Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country 1+2 (and even 3), Mario 64, and Banjo Kazooie?
Not even in the same universe, never mind the same ballpark.
Crash is a perfect example of nostalgic blindness through rose-tinted glasses, IMO.
@the_beaver In my opinion, the reasons are that they first make a new game built for the standard x86 consoles and then they consider downgrading and adapting the game to less powerful Switch which is also completely different architecture (Nvidia mobile). That requires additional work.
@HappyMaskedGuy Mario 64's aged horribly. Not even the recent PC port could save it.
@TheAwesomeBowser I don't agree. It still is the most fun Super Mario 3D game.
I’m so bored of companies acting like switch is an after thought. The user base is massive and the money spent is bonkers.
Stop acting like it’s a hard decision or they are doing switch users a favour by bringing it.
As a Xbox and PS owner too companies acting like this get less money from me no matter what the platform.
Other companies have proved getting games running on the switch - especially titles like this isn’t a problem
@TheAwesomeBowser If you’re unable to see why Mario 64 is a vastly, vastly superior game to Crash Bandicoot, there’s nothing I can do for you.
@HappyMaskedGuy well, instead of saying “a game you like is garbage” you could say “eh, not my cup of tea”. Then you don’t sound like a horrible person.
@HappyMaskedGuy From what I played of both, I enjoyed the latter far more.
It'll be out roughly a year after the PS4 xbone versions cause Activision likes money! 😀
@HappyMaskedGuy Crash N.Sane Trilogy is much better than Mario games
@HappyMaskedGuy I thought it too but then I began to play N.Sane Trilogy and realised how stupid I was.
They are most def thinking about PC and Stadia... Don't get your hopes too high.
I’m fine waiting for a Switch version, unless it’s absolutely jaw droppingoh brilliant.
And while I like the Crash games a lot they’re more good, solid fun than jaw dropping.
@UmbreonsPapa @KoopaTheGamer @Stocksy
I've said in previous articles that regardless of it's consumer base the Switch always tends to be treated as the red headed step child. It's getting common practice for developers to respond in that similar way when asked about Switch releases.
It's because of that we often have these articles on this site. A developer announces a new game to virtually all platforms except the Switch. Nintendo Life article about developer's response to Switch's absence which usually has the same political response. Rinse and repeat.
Or they could do what Playtonic did and design the game with the Switch in mind first (ie getting it to run at 60 fps) then upscale it to the other consoles. Worked great for the Impossible Lair!
This style of business is garbage and shouldn't be tolerated but at the end of the day it gives the Switch more games and that's what the system needs. When it eventually comes it will be a deep sale for me. Not that big on the Crash games anyways but that doesnt take away from the fact it should be there day one!
It's rather annoying considering, Activision released Crash Team Racing on Switch. The Switch version of Crash Team Racing, got released the same time as the PS4 & Xbox One versions.
@RustedHero I think releasing on Switch later might be a good business move anyway. People buy it on PS4/Xbox One. Six months later, it suddenly becomes possible to play it on the go on Switch, and some people buy it again. This way the game also gets a lot more attention and is on the news longer.
Please bring it to the Switch
I'd be surprised if Crash 4 didn't make it to Switch at some point. Let Toys for Bob get the PS4/XBO versions complete first, before letting someone like Saber or Panic Button get to work on Switch optimisation.
Apparently a smash success on switch isn’t enough. They are merely releasing on other platforms to encourage double dipping
@HappyMaskedGuy Agreed. Crash is a product of its time and has aged poorly. Mario did 3D right and is timeless. Crash just took the 2D plane of 2D platformers and flipped the perspective, creating a linear tunnel. They were fun at the time, but not great games.
@HappyMaskedGuy: "In all honesty, you can keep it."
Really? You are going to argue against the Switch receiving a prominent 3rd party game with high production values? That isn't so much anti-Crash, its anti-Switch.
I don't like Animal Crossing. I can't stand them. But do I regret New Horizons' release on the Switch? Hell no. Big budget games with good sales figures releasing on the Switch creates the sustainable eco-system which attracts small and medium size developers to develop for it. No Animal Crossing or Breath of the Wild = Fewer interesting indie games on the platform.
Arguing against a game like Crash 4 to come to the Switch because the game doesn't suit your own subjective personal tastes is very silly and really quite petty.
Hopefully Crash 4 comes to the Switch, not just because its good for Crash fans, but because its good for the Switch as a platform.
yeah , maybe a port in two years lmao
i just recently got spyro reignited for the switch and am loving it a lot so im planning to get the crash trilogy soon and since im just a kid and cant get a job to get other systems.... PLSSS BRING CRASH 4 TO SWITCH!
@HappyMaskedGuy triggered at crash huh
@ComradeThom There’s something bizarrely hyperbolic about accusing me of being ‘Anti Switch.’ Like I have some sort of hidden agenda.
Damn it! My evil plan is ruined!
@DeclanS98 Methinks ye be the tool who be triggered.
@HappyMaskedGuy u got a B+ for English didn't u
@HappyMaskedGuy I like em. Never touched the originals. I dip in and out of Crash N-Sane from time to time on Switch
@HappyMaskedGuy I doubt malevolence, just ignorance.
I like the Crash series for what it is, but to hammer in a point some people here may understand easier: I go back to play Mario games, not Crash games. I might play Crash once in a while, if that, but Mario from his NES days to Odyssey and spin-offs with Donkey Kong or Wario, I can play again and again, even without a nostalgia filter.
Crash can exist on Switch or not make the jump this time (I honestly believe this will come later), but I won’t miss him if Crash 4 somehow doesn’t end up on Switch, and will be pleasantly surprised to see him here. I just won’t run to buy it the way I do with Mario games.
The more we get the better!
Not into crash but please also evaluate the Tony Hawk remakes HARD
Hope it does. Really liked the n sane Trilogy and spyro
@KoopaTheGamer You make a valid point and I agree with what you said. I mainly just wanted to point out this never ending merry-go-round Switch owners endure.
It would be a mistake not to release it on Switch
Crash 4 will never leave the UK charts. I have and completed the N-Sane trilogy on Switch and will wait for 4's release on Switch.
It will come to Switch. Crash Trilogy sold on Switch like it was a 1st party game.
@KoopaTheGamer the they are probably doing this cause they want people to double dip.
At this point its not surprising that it won't come to Switch, it'll be even more surprising if it sold better on Switch and PC than the PS4 and Xbox One ports.
@HappyMaskedGuy
Dude, look, you don't have to like Crash. I don't like Crash, and nobody is telling you your opinion is wrong. That being said, there are also people who like Crash that want it on the Switch. I'm sorry, but the world doesn't revolve around you and just because you don't want something doesn't mean nobody else does.
@Reprise
What exactly about Crash 1-3 doesn't stand the test of time? Controls? Level design? Super Mario 64 is a great game but it's not a "timeless classic" in every area. For example we've seen better cameras in newer 3D games.
@HappyMaskedGuy Dude if you hate them sooo much why are you here, there are a lot of use who love this game, you don't have to stomp all over it, And i'm not saying you cant like it just be nicer about it like how @Alpha008 said. When I was younger i did not like crash but when the remake came out i wanted to give it a shot and look now i love crash, and saying Mcd dose not have good food is not fact.
@BlackenedHalo Same here.
@HappyMaskedGuy I respect your opinion, but I wasn't even alive when most of the Crash games came out and I still like the remasters.
@HappyMaskedGuy Why are you on an article about Crash games if you hate Crash?
Isn't that what most game companies do if they want their games on multi platforms?
Seems like Toys For Bob struggles a bit with multiplatform game development if they are going to pull off the "PS4/XBO first, NSW/PC later" schtick for 2 games in a row.
It's just an obvious case of double dip.
Why is people overthinking this?
Pretty sure Switch sales were huge so I can’t imagine they’d stay off it.
I imagine it’s coming. I hope the TH HD games come to Switch as well.
By the time it comes to Switch. It would have been rented and played on PS4.
Always better than playing the waiting game on Switch..
@shonenjump86 did Activision port any current gen console games to mobile platforms before?
Supposedly the Switch is outpowered by some phones but the demographic is quite different, so ports to mobile are kinda rare, aren't they? Btw, there's a new mobile-only Crash game incoming already, it's an auto runner spin-off
Yeah, Switch version most likely will happen. Just like with the Spyro trilogy, Switch and PC versions will come later. Oh well, I can wait.
@NullPointerExcep I was just messing around about the mobile device thing. I have no idea if any of the current games have been ported to devices to be honest with ya.
@RPGamer I can't see anything on the backend of the site at the moment. I'll follow this up and let you know.
@Anti-Matter had to block that HappyMask tosser. Every comment i see from him is negative, opinionated or putting other people down. What an irritating human being. Should change his name to MiserableFuc*ingAnnoyingMaskGuy
@ComradeThom if you read any of his previous comments you will realise silly and pretty is exactly what he is. I could add to the list of annoyances but i think NL's word cap is was below a billion words so i just opted for your 2 examples.
@bobzbulder
Probably because he is upset, that Crash is doing so well. And probably because he is locked down and has nothing better to do.
@RPGamer Maybe - that's about as much as I can say at this point.
Will we see it ported first to Switch (and probably PC) or on PS5 / Xbox Series X?
As someone who grew up with Crash and has it as one of their "all time favourite games"... It saddens me that I only have switch and PC
That said, let them have it first! least we can see if its actually GOOD.. there's a strong hint already there's going to be microtransactions too just so people know, AFAIK the pre order already includes skins!
Also LOL at the people basically "demanding" Crash change from his original forumla calling it outdated
If you don't like it, go play some other platformer, the Crash formula is just fine and there's plenty of other Crash Bandicoot games that did deviate from the original series so go play them instead of insisting Crash can't just be Crash
I'm getting it day 1 of course on PS4 but I'll double dip on Switch if it comes down to it. Can't get enough of Crash!
@Doktor-Mandrake Exactly. Don't fix what isn't broken. Crash of the Titans changed the formula and it wasn't good. People wonder why all the Mega Man's and all the 2D standard Mario games play the same... because the formulas work. Lots of Crash hate in this post. Oh well. Can't please em all.
Also don't let the presence of microtransactions bother you. It seems it's purely for cosmetics. I'm completely fine with that, it's optional stuff.
@AstralSoul64 I see you love crash as much as me, just 100% 3 and 2 but 1 and a little hard.
@Snatcher Yes, I absolutely love the series. Probably only my 2nd favorite franchise to Donkey Kong Country. I recently 100%ed the N Sane Trilogy as well. The first game almost drove me insane with those bridge levels!
@AstralSoul64 Same here now trying to 100% the first game. (That red gem is going to kill me)
@AstralSoul64 and why does HappyMaskedGuy have to be so insulting to the crash series, I love those game and I was stupid not to like it in the past. And if he does not like the og crash games then he needs to go play the trash ones I never did play them was born waaaaaaaaaaaaaay after.
@Snatcher Well hey at least n.sane Crash 1 is easier than the original games, though yeah its still pretty tough.. Especially that new lost level in C1
