Last week, Nintendo revealed it would be bringing Funky Kong and Dixie Kong to its mobile racer Mario Kart Tour. Dixie Kong has now officially made her debut in the Jungle Tour and to help remind players of her past history, Nintendo of America has uploaded the following timeline video on Twitter:
Some of those games like Donkey Kong Country 2 and Diddy Kong Racing DS sure bring back great memories. Surprisingly, this is actually the first time Dixie Kong has appeared as a playable racer in the Mario Kart series, whereas Funky Kong previously made his debut in Mario Kart Wii.

Haven't got the app yet, the controls look horrendous. Wish Dixie was in Mario kart 8 so I might actually care.

They made a mistake for Diddy Kong Racing DS, it came out in 2007, not 1997.
I was excited...until I realized this is for the garbage mobile game and not MK8D.

They missed the original Mario Superstar Baseball. She was in that. Kind of a lackluster batter that had to hit the tip of the bat to get the ball to go anywhere. Great fielder though.
It still would be better, if she was in a real Mario Kart game.

And in MK8 we got 5 babies, 7 koopalings and Pink Gold Peach. The person who made that roster should have been fired.

@MasterGraveheart If it were up to me, the next Smash would reboot and shrink the roster by (conveniently) focusing on (see: pushing) teams of 4 (to make the scatterbrained online as fun as possible):
Pit/Palutena/Dark Pit/Hades--new villain or Viridi (would prefer Hades' fun snark)
Fox/Falco/Peppy/Slippy
Kirby/King Dedede/Metaknight/??? (Waddle Dee, I'd think)
Link/Zelda/Ganondorf/???
DK/Diddy/Dixie/Funky or Cranky
How nice to see you, Dixie, but I'd love to see you even more in DKC2 and DKC3 re-released on the Switch, at least for the Switch Online SNES service!
Dixie seemed to be most prominent in the DS era.
Disappointed to see its Mario Kart Tour. I very briefly got excited to think it could be a new Diddy Kong Racing or possibly even Mario Kart 9 😔

Used all my 90 saved up rubies trying to get Dixie. I didn’t. I got Pauline and Hammer Bro (and a bunch of guys I had “leveled up” or got closer to levelling).
This sparked my interest on the game again

I got both Funky and Dixie in a 45 rubies pipe. I doubt i'll be this lucky again
