I would say Trails deserves the award more than every other game, but there are so many excellent choices. Trails definitely has my highest playtime of the year probably followed by Bananza, but Final Fantasy Tactics is on my wishlist, but not until after I've finished Trails.
@SpaceboyScreams Agreed. Some dlc and maybe some additional single player content (bring back Adventure from Melee and maybe subspace emissary as well)
@speedracer216 I have no doubt many people (myself included) picked one up out of FOMO. But also because there is a non zero percent chance that the price of the console will actually rise over time. Normally, I would not rush out and get a new console for one or two games. I already have a steam deck (and the og switch) and those could easily have held me over until there were more games I was interested in. But due to mostly full backwards compatibility and the fact that there is chance that the price would rise, means that it makes more sense to buy now than to wait and probably pay more later.
@hashkey Yes. I filtered by completed items. So I would see all consoles that sold and all that went unsold. Every console sold for 600 (or more with some as high as 750) and some did not include Mario Kart. I didn't see any that went unsold.
I went with Japan because the character designs look better. Also, the enemies are more recognizable. I can't tell what that thing in the middle of the US box is.
My top 3 were Monster Rancher 1/2 (21 hours) Mario & Luigi Brothership (16 hours & counting) Super Nintendo app (10 hours, mostly a combination of DKC and earthbound)
I bought Unicorn Overlord on Xbox because no one else would. Clocked 95 hours on there which is definitely my most played game across all consoles.
Curious to see how my Steam numbers turn out since I also spend a lot of time on the deck.
@Roibeard64 They've been trying to put gamepass on both Sony and Nintendo consoles for awhile, but neither Sony nor Nintendo wants it. Rightfully so, tbh. I doubt it will ever show up for Nintendo, but it could maybe show up on PS if Xbox ever gets out of the console business.
All online players should be good sports. Not just streamers. I like games that give temporarily bans to people that quit mid match. I think that's pretty sufficient. As for language, people need to have better self control. If you can't play an online game without toxic name calling, then it's time to put that game down and maybe go see a therapist.
@AstroTheGamosian Nintendo leadership admitted many years ago that they didn't pay any attention to what their own competitors (xbox and Playstation) were doing. Why would they have paid attention to Gary's mod? Likely, someone (or something) has been tipping them off.
@illmatic20xx Multiplayer games on PC (and other consoles) make sense. Single player games, less so. Maybe after a long period of time, put them on another console/PC and sell it again to new customers for full price.
@Rika_Yoshitake How many pokemon are there? Seems like the probability of matching up to one by coincidence is pretty high. Especially the four-legged ones which are already all very similar to each other in size.
@FineLerv Castle crashers definitely could use a sequel. And it needs to shake up the gameplay so it doesn't devolve into jump + light attack, light attack, light attack, light attack, light attack, light attack, light attack........
@Archius9 Like many have said. This will likely be a better game than many other $60 games. But if you're not interested then that's fine. I've beaten Super Mario RPG dozens of times and I will gladly hand over $60 for this remake that I've been waiting for for years.
I've been waiting for Sea of Stars since they first announced it 2-3 years ago (maybe longer?) It's just a question of if I get it for Switch or Steam deck. I've been doing more 3rd parties on steam deck lately because of the handy notes app and the ability to easily access guides through steam os.
Final Fantasy 2 (USA) has a soft spot in my heart. But it wasn't until FFIV DS that I was able to finish the game and I was very impressed with the voice work done to the cutscenes even if the voice acting itself wasn't the best, I didn't have much exposure to actual voiced lines in games at the time that I played the remake.
@iNintendo Nothing like Chess. It eases you into the mechanics very nicely. Really fun game too. I 100%'d it at least 4 or 5 times on the Xbox 360. I'm definitely picking up this version.
I'm generally not super big into puzzle games either, but this one is really solid.
Wouldn't be surprised if this was the case for a huge chunk of Nintendo's 1st party games. The amount of QA is evident by how few bugs there are compared to other games, which rely on day one buyers to find bugs.

Re: Review: DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO (Switch 2) - A Brilliant Brawler With A Colossal Roster
@OpheliaDynamight Anyone buying this game is supporting corporate greed and the death of puppies everywhere! /s
Re: Heretic + Hexen 'Update 1' Now Available For Switch
@The_Nintendo_Pedant the one thing they need is the ability to save your game in coop.
Re: Puzzle Quest: Immortal Edition Brings Match-3 RPG Fun To Switch This Month
@OneArmedGiant I played the Mario skin on DS(maybe 3ds). It was fun, but eventually got to a point where I could no longer progress.
Re: Puzzle Quest: Immortal Edition Brings Match-3 RPG Fun To Switch This Month
But will dum dums like me be able to finish the game?
Re: Rumour: Sony Is Gunning For The Switch 2 With A Handheld, Dockable PS6
PS6 (and its possible handheld) won't be coming until 2028 at the earliest. There is time for improvements in tech, battery, and cooling to be made.
Re: Trails In The Sky 1st Chapter Switch 2 Edition 'Upgrade Pack' Confirmed
@SalvorHardin Hard disagree. Switch space is limited and I want the game to play from the cart, otherwise it's barely better than a game key card.
Re: Hands On: Forget The Name, Square Enix's New Action RPG Is A Lovely HD-2D Take On SNES-Era Zelda
I see no problem with the name either. I mean it's not as good as Super Mario Party Jamboree Nintendo switch 2 edition - Jamboree TV.
But it's not bad either.
Re: Kirby Air Riders Has Been Rated For Switch 2
@SpaceboyScreams Agreed. Some dlc and maybe some additional single player content (bring back Adventure from Melee and maybe subspace emissary as well)
Re: PSA: You Can Now Remap Super NES Controls With Nintendo Switch Online
But can we change up to down in Starfox ? (And also Starfox 64?)
I've grown out of inverted controls and cannot go back.

Re: Switch 2 Sets "All-Time" Launch Record For Video Game Hardware In The US
@hashkey But somehow there are still loads of consoles being sold on ebay for $600+.
Re: Nintendo Expects To Sell 15 Million Switch 2 Consoles This Financial Year
15 million isn't their 12 month target. 15 million is what they expect to sell in 10 months (June '25 - end of March '26)
Re: Street Fighter 6 Releasing Final 'Year 2' Fighter Alongside Switch 2 Game Launch
@SillyG isn't the year 1 2 edition an actual cartridge and not a game key card?

Re: Japanese Charts: Fans Go Bananas For Donkey Kong Country Returns HD
I bought it because I wanted to play on a TV without motion controls.
Re: Your 'Nintendo Switch Year In Review 2024' Stats Are Available Now
Not a big year for Switch for me.
My top 3 were
Monster Rancher 1/2 (21 hours)
Mario & Luigi Brothership (16 hours & counting)
Super Nintendo app (10 hours, mostly a combination of DKC and earthbound)

Re: Feature: 9 'Mature' Games We'd Love To See On Nintendo Switch Online's New N64 App
Snowboard Kids 1/2
Mystical Ninja
Goemon's greatest adventure
Beetle Adventure Racing
Flying Dragon
Fighter's Destiny 1/2
Ogre Battle 64
Quest 64
Gauntlet Legends
Re: Switch Online's "Mature" Nintendo 64 App Is Now Available In The West
@romanista parental controls work on a per app basis. They needed a separate app to apply a different age rating than the original app.
Re: 'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind' Switch Listing Spotted
Day one for me. Only question is Switch or Steam Deck.
Re: Sonic Team On Remasters: "If There's A Title People Like, We'll Think About It"
Sonic R. That should be next. Everything else can wait.
Re: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Return In All-New Retro-Style Action Game This Year
Day one. Probably.
Re: UK Charts: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Loses The Crown In Its Second Week
I plan on picking up my copy whenever I eventually finish Unicorn overlord.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's N64 Library With Two More Titles
@BANJO "Spacestation Silicon Valley & Mystical Ninja Staring Goemon would be fantastic."
Now we're talking. And let's also throw in:
Hybrid Heaven
Penny Racers
Snowboard Kids

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 27th)
Palworld, Sea of stars, and cult of the lamb for me.
Re: Soapbox: After Years Of Lengthy RPG Tutorials, Golden Sun Feels Fresher Than Ever
@Real_Obsi We can have kirby games and dark souls games, but we don't need one to be more like the other.

@Rika_Yoshitake How many pokemon are there? Seems like the probability of matching up to one by coincidence is pretty high. Especially the four-legged ones which are already all very similar to each other in size.

Wait!? Golden Sun has co-op?
Re: Jet Force Gemini's Widescreen Mode Reportedly "Broken" On Switch
@RubyCarbuncle The game works the same as the original 64 version.
Re: Mini Review: Alien Hominid Invasion - An Explosive, Superior Sequel
@FineLerv Castle crashers definitely could use a sequel. And it needs to shake up the gameplay so it doesn't devolve into jump + light attack, light attack, light attack, light attack, light attack, light attack, light attack........

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder Scores Another Round Of Previews Ahead Of Release
@WhiteTrashGuy Those games were great but I don't think any of them were game of the year contenders.
Re: Unity Reveals New Pricing Model For Runtime Fee Policy
As a consumer, I really don't care what engine a game is using. Only that it runs well.
Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's Game Boy Advance Library Next Week
How many people do you need for co-op?
Re: Rumour: 'Switch 2' Gamescom Demo Supposedly Had Zelda: BOTW Running At 4K 60FPS

Re: Ash Ketchum's Voice Actor Shares Final Emotional Moments Of Last Recording
I dropped off of the Pokémon anime when Digimon and Monster Rancher showed up. They were both way better at the time. Never seen a Pokémon episode since.

Re: Adore Mixes Monster-Taming Action And Real-Time Battles On Switch Next Month
@sfb @RagManX Capybara did develop the recently released (as of yesterday) might and magic clash of heroes.
Re: Review: Might & Magic: Clash Of Heroes - Definitive Edition - A DS Classic Returns In Mighty Fine Form

Re: Talking Point: Has Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition On Switch Improved Since Launch?
@Kiwi_Unlimited Ark has been playable ever since January-ish. Maybe a bit earlier. Way better than before.
