@Ruthven It's doesn't have to be just the lighter games. It's all streaming. That's why it works on phones / tablets. Every single game on gamepass regardless of how demanding it is, can be streamed from an xbox console to (your device of choice).

@generalgorilla19 It's not the games they are opposed to, it's the entire online service.

@TheFullAndy It is, but they can change their mind anytime they want and what will Microsoft do then? Start from scratch releasing another console? Nope. They'll just keep doing what they're doing. If they released game pass on Nintendo / Sony's consoles, then maybe they can consider going 3rd party, but probably not before then.

@TheFullAndy Remember when EA created a 3rd party service, and Sony said: "Nope, we won't let you host it on our PS4." That's why Microsoft will continue to make consoles.

@Incarna Doesn't make sense. Microsoft wants to sell software not hardware. The fact that you can use game pass on PC, phones, and tablets is proof of that.

Sounds like he's speaking for Sony / Nintendo, claiming that they don't want the full Xbox experience on their platforms. (Which is probably accurate)

It was way better than I thought it would be, but not really impressive. Just better than horrible (which was what I came in expecting).

This direct was actually surprisingly good. I expected a lot less.

The sonic advance series was also really good. Even that Sonic Battle game was fun as well. For the 3d sonics, they need to find a way to improve upon Adventure 2.

@FargusPelagius Phantasy star online was definitely a great splitscreen experience. They should have done the same with this. Maybe they'll patch it in later? I haven't looked into the remastered game play enough to know how important having your own screen is. At a minimum though, it really shouldn't require an online subscription for the lite version (the full version probably will). They should at least make the extra effort to get local wireless to work too.

@FargusPelagius and I disagree that the barrier to entry removes the purpose of it. It definitely sucks for one Switch groups who were hoping to play together. But in my case, and I'm sure many others, the same people I played with on the original, I can play with on this one over the internet. If my kids want to play, we've got a Switch lite and 2 tablets.

We've gotten remasters with much less.

@FargusPelagius I would hope NSO isn't a requirement. I don't believe its a requirement for fortnite or other f2p games.

@SirKero switch pro controller and 8bitdo controllers both work on phones / tablets.

If you have an internet connection, there is literally no difference between this and the original. The original required multiple game boy advances. This one requires multiple Switches but phones, tablets, or a PS4 can be used instead of a Switch.

And yes, your 8bitdo controller or even Switch pro controller will work on your phone / tablet.

And you only need to purchase one copy of the game to enjoy the whole thing with 4 people.

Someone should mention that they are releasing a free version of the game so people can play multi-player with others that bought the game. Kind of like the "download play" for certain DS games (triforce heroes comes to mind)

@Joekun I wish they gave the option of locking accounts so that they'd require a pin to unlock similar to PS4 / Xbox one. Don't need my son's friends messing with my account data.

@WoomyNNYes @71nk0 Yep. The 8bitdo controllers are great. The dpad is much better than the pro. My preference is for asymmetrical analog sticks though so I mostly use the Nintendo pro controller. Had to use an 8bitdo controller to get through Mario Maker 2's story mode though.

@Kiz3000 It does look like a rechargeable version of their previous controller. That one seemed to have issues with longevity, so it makes me skeptical of this one.

@SwitchForce Why do you assume no gyro when it says it has motion controls?

@MrBlacky @Bl4ckb100d Paper Mario definitely wasn't challenging. I remember renting the original from blockbuster and beating it over the weekend. And I was involved with sports which meant that I wasn't playing it all weekend.

I own a 15 inch "TV" that I bought from Amazon for ~$180. It is primarily used for playing on a bigger screen when away from home and a standard TV is not available. Think conferences, ballrooms, dining. The nice thing about these is that can be powered via USB. So I can use my power bank to power it and the Switch dock for at least 3 hours of game play on a 15 inch screen. The 6 inch tablet is awful for multiplayer, but 15 inches works wonderfully.

@Tandy255 I prefer the model that gets us more games, and so far the subscription model doesn't seem to be it. We had way more games on Wii U VC 3 years into its life.

@PlayedNSlayed Took me awhile, but I made it to the "true" final boss. Didn't beat it because **** that boss, but I felt satisfied just making it up to that point as it really connected all of the stories together.

I don't think they can improve upon Smash ultimate either. They can just keep adding new characters / stages / modes via dlc. When a new console launches, if it doesn't support backwards compatibility (which would be terrible), then they should release the ultimate definitive edition which bundles ALL the dlc.

All the drama with ritual of the night (which I still haven't bought BTW) combined with this announcement made me go out and purchase the 1st curse of the moon and its actually really fun. I look forward to the getting the 2nd.

@StevenH I might have to give the uncharted series another try. Tried the 1st on the remastered collection and then lost interest after a couple hours.

@Glitchling78 I've been thinking about replaying Odyssey as well. First time I played through it (only until the post final boss) was with my 3 year old controlling the hat (and effectively turning the game into hard mode). I might try to replay it solo, but my son (now 5, almost 6) has been hogging the game hard lol. Maybe I'll get a 2nd copy if I can find one on sale.

@playstation_king Playstation 5 will probably dominate the West eventually. For this holiday season, I don't think they'll be able to produce enough to meet demand.
