Re: UK Charts: 51 Worldwide Games Makes Top Ten Debut As Ring Fit Adventure Soars Into Second

NotoriousWhiz

@Anguspuss My 5 year old really enjoys ring fit and is able to follow the instructions pretty well.

My 3 year old's leg isn't quite big enough for the leg strap and so as he runs, it is always falling down. Also, he is not that good at following the instructions, so it takes awhile to jump over obstacles.

Oh and for the record, they don't play the story mode, they just do the mini games, rhythm games, and jogging sections. T'hose are the ones they like the best. The actual story mode is way too sophisticated for them at this time, especially considering their limited reading abilities.

My first exposure to programming was writing simple video games in BASIC when I was 10. Then I started writing custom NPCs / items in Graal (may be dating myself now). Now I'm a professional software engineer who develops applications for various clients (none of which are gaming related).

All of this to say, is that an easy learn to program your own video game, could be a simple and fun way to understand some programming fundamentals.

Re: Poll: Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?

NotoriousWhiz

I originally planned on buying it soon, but then I remembered that I never did get DQ11. So I'm gonna wait for a sale on DQ11, and then by the time I'm finished with DQ11, then I'll re-evaluate picking up Xenoblade Chronicles. Plus, I also have the sequel, that I'm only about 5 hours into, so maybe I'll finish that one too. Once that's all done, it should be about time for Xenoblade to be on sale.

@sixrings I never said that there is anything wrong with better graphics. Better anything will make a game better. But the absence of high quality graphics, doesn't make a good game into a bad one.

But since you brought up my personal spending, I buy a lot of games for the Switch, and that's solely because it's portable. I had a Wii U and I might have bought < 10 games for it. On the Switch, I've got at least 30 mid to large budget titles. (We're not gonna talk about how many lower budget / roguelike indie games I've bought).

@Kynwal I just recently bought my son a 2DS (man was that thing hard to find). If he can keep it in decent shape, I'll probably upgrade him to a Switch lite next year when he turns 7. But I'm also in the: "if Nintendo makes a pro version, he can have my old one" camp.

Re: Kemco And City Connection Apologise Over New Switch JRPG Revenge Of Justice

@SKTTR was Revenant saga one of their games? I think that was my first and only of their rpgs. It was great value for money at the time as I'm pretty sure it was released back in 2017 for the Switch. Now, I've got old final fantasy games I can play at a similar price as I never did play any final fantasy game after 7. Not to mention the ridiculous backlog of other games I've got besides.

Re: Nintendo Could See Profits As High As The Wii Era Thanks To Global Lockdown, Analysts Say

@Razer I think the major repercussion from PS5 / Series X will be fewer "major" third party games coming to the Switch. The Switch is obviously missing out on a bunch now, but once the 3rd parties start targeting the PS5 / Series X as the baseline, expect those titles to be even more scarce on the Switch. That said, the Switch's larger install base will ensure that there are plenty of lower budget third party games being developed for the Switch first, and later ported to the other consoles. And quite frankly, I've been far more interested in the lower budget titles than the big budget titles. So even after I purchase a next gen console, I'll still be doing most of my gaming on the Switch.

Re: Sega Open To Reviving Sonic's 1993 Arcade Game, But Needs Your Support

NotoriousWhiz

This is such shady marketing. I bought Sonic & Sonic 2, because those were the glory days (and the spin / drop dash in the OG Sonic makes it much more tolerable).

Not sure yet, if I'm interested in the arcade game (never played it, so I have no nostalgia), but for a $5 sale, I'll definitely buy it and try it.

If they just need money, make a kickstarter and be done with it. Don't play games with people: "Buy our stuff and just maybe we'll think about you giving you something you want"
