Re: Kemco Discounts Ten RPGs Across Switch, Wii U And 3DS In Latest Sale

Only one I played was Revenant Saga when it first released on the Switch back in 2017. It's not a particularly remarkable game but it was one of very few JRpgs available on the Switch at that time. I enjoyed my time with it, but now there are just sooooo many options. If you want a cheap rpg that'll last 30-40 hours, it's not bad price to pay. But if you can splurge more Octopath Traveler and Dragon Quest 11 are far better games. Bravely default 2 is also around the corner, and then there's the breath of fire games on the NSO. Plus we've also got all those final fantasy games and romancing saga games.

Re: Feature: Every Nintendo Switch Online SNES Game Ranked

@Hikingguy That is my biggest gripe with the NES/SNES titles. The need to manually check if the game can be played. From a software perspective, it would be sooooo easy to automatically validate a user's subscription on every login, such that the NES/SNES games will always work if accessed within 7 days of last login. Instead, if you randomly decide to play a game on a trip where you have no internet access, you're out of luck.

There are tons of unique subtleties even among the "metroidvania" genre. Salt and Sanctuary plays way different from Guacamelee. And both of those play way different from Hollow Knight. And both of those play way different than Monster Sanctuary.

The fact that it's a metroidvania only really tells you that you'll be gaining some skills to access previously inaccessible areas. Combat, story, and how you progress may differ significantly from game to game.

@RiderSkyward I've only played for about an hour so far (enough to beat two champions) and outside of the champions, most battles I can complete in 2 - 3 turns. Definitely not a slog, but again, I'm still in the early game. Where I spend most of my time is figuring out where to allocate those skill points, there are soooo many options. It probably would be a good idea for me to take a notepad and map out how I want to progress the skill tree so I'm not looking at every skill everytime I get a skill point. 😀

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Focus On Younger Players Is A Positive, Not A Negative

The complexity of Nintendo's games betrays its true demographic. As an outsider looking in, Nintendo's games are family friendly. As an actual gamer, many of Nintendo's games have a difficulty level that children won't be able to overcome.

Breath of the Wild
Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze
Astral Chain

These games are clearly made with the adult gamer in mind.

The biggest difference (some may say appeal) is that you can play most Nintendo games and it's okay to have a child watch you play.

All games don't need to be graphic, sexual stories.

Re: Re-Release Of N64 Classic Glover Appears To Be Taking Shape, Kickstarter Teased

@Vertigoat everything no, but we at least need:

Mystical Ninja (and its sequel)
Penny Racers
Quest 64
Hexen
Gauntlet 64
Bomberman 64 (best bomberman to date, imo)
Ogre Battle 64
Flying Dragon
Space Station Silicon Valley
Turok Rage Wars (probably coming soon, tbh)
Fighter's Destiny 2 (original not needed)
Snowboard Kids 2 (original optional)

I think that covers a good chunk of the obscure N64 games worth playing in 202X.

I played and beat Revenant Saga when it first came out on Switch (2017). At the time, there weren't a lot of 2D rpgs to choose from and it was a fun enough time. The story was relatively engaging and the battles were pretty standard.

Now though, there are so many games to choose from, nothing really makes it stand out. If you lack funds, then sure, grab it for cheap. You could do worse.
