Re: Review: Natsu-Mon: 20th Century Summer Kid (Switch) - A Pleasant Vacation, If You're Patient

Nintendzoey

Only heard about this game recently, I tried the demo and thought it was great.
However, the biggest ‘con’ for me (and may be the reason that I might not end up buying the game) is hearing that it ends after a period of time. I have put more hours into games (such as Harvest Moon, Animal Crossing etc.) than I care to admit. I have always loved that you can relax and take your time with the majority of them (do, see, complete everything) without being rushed through it all by a deadline. I like to take my time with these kind of games and if, to keep on playing, you have to start everything all over again (after 31 in-game days) that kind of turns me off.

Re: Anniversary: The Game Boy Is Now 35 Years Old (North America)

Nintendzoey

I never owned a Game Boy myself but both of my younger sisters had one each and they always offered to let me play. I spent most of my free time playing on my NES.
I remember the two games that my sisters had on their Game Boys (that I would play the most) were ‘The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle’ and ‘Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins’.

Re: Switch "Joy-Con Drift" Class Action Lawsuit Dismissed After Five Years

Nintendzoey

The joy-cons are rubbish. Like some people have said to me in the past, even if you ARE able to fix them it may only be temporary. The joy-cons cost about $120 Australian, which is too much to pay for something that may just suddenly stop functioning properly at any moment. Also, just because some people have not experienced it for themselves does not mean that it is not an issue or that the people who have drifting joy-cons must have been careless or rough with theirs. I do not get or understand this whole “never experienced it so it is clearly not an issue” attitude from people.

Re: Every Nintendo Switch Online Game Boy (Color) Game Ranked

Nintendzoey

I love ‘Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins’.

I never personally had an original Game Boy system (my first Nintendo handheld, not counting the Game & Watch, was the GBA) but both of my younger sisters had one (about 30 years ago).
[I was always spending my money on NES games instead.]
Both of them would share their Game Boys with me though - I remember the two games that they had that I would play the most were ‘The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle’ and ‘Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins’.
To this day, that Mario game is still on my list as one of the all-time greatest Mario games.

Re: Talking Point: Which Mario Suits Do You Want To See In The Super Mario Bros. Movie?

Nintendzoey

The Tanooki suit (from “Super Mario Bros. 3” - that can turn Mario [in raccoon form] into a statue) would be funny. I can just imagine some enemies charging towards Mario, so he dons the Tanooki suit and they all go rushing past him. He unfreezes from being a statue and they all come running back towards him. He turns into a statue again and they go rushing past once more, wondering where he has gone again..

Re: Ash's Pokémon Send-Off Will See The Return Of Brock And Misty

Nintendzoey

I was in high school when I first heard of Pokemon (am in my 40s now) but almost every time that I saw Pikachu it was with Ash (although had no idea what his name was at the time). Never watched any of the show(s) or movie(s) [although I do remember the music video for that M2M song] but my younger cousins were always telling me about it.. not that I can remember anything of what they said to me. 😅

Re: Talking Point: What Game Do You Replay Every Year?

Nintendzoey

The games that I have played the most over the years include: Super Mario Bros 3 (NES version), Super Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie, Bully, Word Rescue, Treasure Mountain, Return To Zork, Super Mario Bros (NES version), Super Mario Bros 2 (NES version), Thrillville, Frogger, Donkey Kong, Popeye, Space Invaders, Galaga.. basically many games from the 1980s and 1990s that I grew up with (and that I do not think that I will ever tire from) - I love the nostalgia that I get from them all.

Re: Feature: Which Characters Are Next For Disney Dreamlight Valley? Every Hint From The Game

Nintendzoey

All the characters that I would like in the game are most probably very unlikely (😔):

  • Characters from the 1980s “Gummi Bears” TV series
  • Darkwing Duck and Launchpad McQuack
  • Roger and Jessica Rabbit
  • Gurgi - “The Black Cauldron”
  • Oliver and Dodger - “Oliver and Company”
  • Basil and Rattigan - “The Great Mouse Detective”
  • Copper and Todd - “The Fox and the Hound”
  • Bernard, Bianca, Jake and Cody - “The Rescuers Down Under”

Re: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet's First Mod Has Removed Ed Sheeran's Song 'Celestial'

Nintendzoey

I am in my 40s and rarely listen to anything new (I prefer the music from my youth - 80s and 90s mainly.. sometimes 60s and 70s as well) but I do not mind listening to “Celestial”, not a bad song in my opinion.
Obviously, any song (at all) that could have been chosen would not appeal to everybody. I could list some of my favourite songs of all time and there would be people who disagree..

Re: Best Simpsons Games On Nintendo Systems

Nintendzoey

I love Bart Vs. The Space Mutants.
I purchased the computer version in the early 1990s and was able to finish the game, never found it too hard (not compared to some other games from around that same time).
I have since then also played the NES version. I did have a NES (back in the day) but saw no point in buying the same game twice - so did not play the NES version until many years later.
My favourite level in the game would be Krustyland.

Re: Best Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Games On Nintendo Systems

Nintendzoey

I had the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game on my NES back when it was first released. I remember Christian Slater and his “dad” (Beau Bridges) playing the game in the movie “The Wizard” as well, with Beau being excited because he found “the scroll weapon”. 😃
I think it is the only Ninja Turtles game that I have ever played to this day.

Re: Mini Metro Copycat Game Has Been Removed From Switch eShop

Nintendzoey

@Hemibear I am a radio star though, with many listeners. As long as the audience (general population) is there, video never truly killed my kind. Besides, what do / did The Buggles know anyway.. that was really the only big hit song that they ever gave us anyway.. 😄
The same thing goes for video games. Digital downloads have been around for a long time now and although the sales of physical games has certainly dwindled a bit over the years, as long as people continue to buy physical games they may still exist.

Re: Playtonic Celebrates 5 Years of Yooka-Laylee, Teases Some "Surprises"

Nintendzoey

@Debbiee True. Being someone who was a kid in the 1980s / early 1990s, I have seen many movies, TV shows etc. being remade or brought back again for this new generation. A lot of the time they do not even begin to compare to the original, usually because they were made decades ago by other people or they have changed the formula of what made the original so popular a little too much.
Like in your example of Mary Poppins, I did love the original movie but I also enjoyed “Mary Poppins Returns” as well (just not as much). I was not expecting a movie that was exactly the same as the original (like I was not expecting Yooka-Laylee to be exactly the same as Banjo-Kazooie) but I enjoyed the similarities and the fun / memories that they provided me with.
Sometimes just a little tinkering can make a good thing even better.. yes, I was not a big fan of the Yooka-Laylee world extensions that much either. I liked the compactness of Banjo-Kazooie, there seemed to be something to do in every part / area of the world in that game. Conversely, the worlds in Yooka-Laylee seemed just a little too big (and sometimes barren) [especially when you made them bigger] to me. Just small improvements, like the size of the worlds, could make the next Yooka-Laylee a winner for me.

Re: Playtonic Celebrates 5 Years of Yooka-Laylee, Teases Some "Surprises"

Nintendzoey

The original Yooka-Laylee was good (but not great), it could have used some more polish, I did enjoy it but not as much as Banjo-Kazooie. Banjo-Kazooie was originally released on the N64 in the 1990s back when I was in my very late teens (almost 20) and has been one of my favourite games since then. As soon as I heard about Yooka-Laylee (being a fan of both Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie), I knew it was a game that I wanted to play.
I did not enjoy Impossible Lair though, I ended up deleting it from my Switch. I tried to get into it but did not enjoy it.
Good to see they are making a second 3D Yooka-Laylee game, hopefully they can get the formula spot on this time.

Re: Random: Kingdom Hearts Gets A Nod On The Latest Mickey Mouse Cartoon

Nintendzoey

Yuck. I do not know about the show itself but that animation style looks cheap and hideous.. 🤮
Where are the animators who gave us those great 80s / 90s shows such as Goof Troop, Darkwing Duck, DuckTales (the original series - not that newer one), Gummi Bears, TaleSpin, Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers.. not to mention all of those animators who worked on (the animated movie versions of) The Lion King, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid.. now that was good animation! Sad to see what Disney has become.. 🥲

Re: Memory Pak: I Was Accidentally In The Perfect Place For The Nintendo Switch Launch Week

Nintendzoey

The only thing that has brought me down about the Switch are the “joy-cons” and the drift.. I love how they are called “joy” “cons”.. (😆). Besides that though, love the Switch. I bought the Hori Split Pad Pro controllers and they have lasted a lot longer than the ordinary ones. Which is alright for me, since I prefer to play the Switch in handheld mode.

Also, I wish that I was still in my 20s five years ago.. I am quite a bit older than that though.. 😉

Re: Square Enix Releases "Day 1 Patch" For Kingdom Hearts' Cloud Versions On Switch

Nintendzoey

Would have loved to finally be able to play these games.. especially on a handheld.. but not paying for:

1) a full retail price game that you do not actually own and will probably not be able to play (as it will have been removed) some time in the future

2) a game on the Switch that is not actually very portable (since you need a constant internet connection), especially if you leave the house

3) a game that some people (including myself) can not play because the internet service is rubbish (keeps dropping out etc.) or costs too much in their local area

4) a game that you will not be able to play if the server is down..

Too many reasons to never buy a “cloud version”.. As far as I am concerned, Kingdom Hearts has still not come to the Switch..

Re: Wii Sports Is Reborn As 'Nintendo Switch Sports'

Nintendzoey

The sports game that I still like the most on the Switch is “Go Vacation”.. One of the things that I enjoyed the most was the exploration / free roam side of things - including finding those animals to photograph, riding on horses, skiing around the slopes.. would like to see that implemented in more sporting games, as long as it is done well.

Re: Digital Foundry Gives Its Assessment Of Cloud Gaming On Switch

Nintendzoey

Where I live, the internet service is mostly rubbish (even on a good day).. I get the internet dropping out often. I also only get a small allowance for the internet each month (the prices are crazy expensive in my area), so have to watch what I do online. My area is not ready (or prepared) for Cloud gaming at this point in time.

Then there is the portability issue, what is the use of having the game on a handheld if you need an internet connection to play? Once you step out of the house, who is to say that you will even have an internet connection? Most probably you will not be able to play this game on the go.

Then there is the pricing and ownership issue, if we are paying full price for these games, who knows how long we will be able to play them for anyway (before they are no longer available to us / online). Not paying (especially if it is full price) for a game that could simply be taken away from us at any moment.

Re: Dreamcast Star 'Kao The Kangaroo' Is Making A Surprise Comeback On Switch

Nintendzoey

I was wondering how old that song from Junior Senior (Move Your Feet) was, so looked it up.. It was originally released in 2002 but became a (at least moderate) hit in Australia back in 2003.. so back when I was in my 20s.. where are the years going? 😱
Never heard of Kao the Kangaroo though, no not even in Australia (😁).. but then again, I never owned a Dreamcast or GameCube either.. It does look the kind of game that I would like though.. I am a big fan of Spyro and Banjo-Kazooie after all.
