Re: Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa Thinks Cloud Gaming Is "A Long Way Off"

Nintendzoey

Internet data where I live is still FAR too expensive. I do not even stream TV (don’t have Netflix, Stan, Disney+ etc.) and still run out of data each month. There is no way I can afford more data (or unlimited data), already paying an arm and a leg for it as it is. Everyone seems to think that online / streaming is the way of the future. No, at the moment, it is not for some of us unfortunately. That is not to even mention the poor reception you can still receive in certain areas.

Re: Nintendo Has Now Sold More Than 750 Million Games Consoles Worldwide

Nintendzoey

My love for Nintendo started in the 1980s. I owned a NES and a truckload of NES games. I will always associate the movie “The Wizard” with the NES as well, I grew up watching that movie MANY times. I loved it because “it’s so bad”.😄
Since then the other Nintendo consoles that I have owned have been: the N64, the Wii and now the Switch.
As for handhelds, I have owned a Game Boy Advance, a few DSs, a few 3DSs and a NEW 3DS. I never had an original Game Boy but both of my little sisters had one each. I used to steal (um,.. borrow) theirs. Most of the time (unless we went on holidays) I just used to play the NES instead.

Re: Site News: The First Ever Piece Of Lovely Nintendo Life Merch Has Landed

Nintendzoey

Maybe if it was not SNES related. I never had a SNES back in the 1990s, so it holds no nostalgia factor for me. My first Nintendo home console was the original NES (which I first had back in the 1980s), then the N64, Wii and now the Switch. Seems like I have skipped every second generation of Nintendo consoles for some reason (😮😄). I do already own a number of NES related shirts though and even my backpack looks like a giant NES controller. 👍

Re: Random: Oh Dear, US Quiz Show Jeopardy! Just Fell For A Fake Tetris Trivia Prank

Nintendzoey

Some people even go as far as to make up stuff online, present it as fact and then totally diss anyone who dares to say it is wrong.
I have seen it many times. I remember correcting someone online and boy did I cop an earful. I have never seen (or heard) such absolute vulgarity in my life. The worst thing is that many people will just blindly believe whatever it is that they read / see / hear, whether it be true or not. Sad to see that it has even spread to TV now. Although I must admit that hearing the Tetris blocks thought to have names such as “Smashboy” and “Orange Ricky” is hilarious. 😆

Re: Review: Yooka-Laylee And The Impossible Lair - A Delicious Mix Of Donkey Kong And Zelda

Nintendzoey

@Kang81 No need to apologise, I did not find your comment insulting or negative at all. Sorry if what I said gave you that impression, it was certainly not what I intended. I guess it is much harder when you write something to someone online for it to come across as you intended it to.

I just wanted to clarify that I do not find the DKC games bad, they are just not some of the games that I love or am that that interested in. They are not games that I will totally avoid altogether though. They are just nowhere near as good as the Banjo Kazooie series of games for me. That was why I am disappointed that they have made this new Yooka-Laylee game more like DKC than a “spiritual successor to Banjo Kazooie”. I know many people will like that is more akin to DKC though. I hope you enjoy this new game and I may even play it in the future as well. It just not something that is on my wishlist or that I will preording day one (like I did with the original Yooka-Laylee).

Re: Review: Yooka-Laylee And The Impossible Lair - A Delicious Mix Of Donkey Kong And Zelda

Nintendzoey

@Kang81 I don’t hate the DKC games (is it even possible to “hate” that franchise? 🤔 I don’t think so! 👍), just not really my cup of tea. The two original Banjo and Kazooie games are two of my favourite games of ALL time. Especially the first, Banjo-Kazooie. I must have played it about 50 times (on both the N64 and XBox 360) over the years. I have never played any other game to full completion as much as Banjo-Kazooie (besides maybe Super Mario 1, 2 and 3 - starting with them on the NES when I was a kid in the 1980s).

Re: Review: Yooka-Laylee And The Impossible Lair - A Delicious Mix Of Donkey Kong And Zelda

Nintendzoey

This is not the “Tooka Laylee” that I was hoping for. When Microsoft (XBox) took Banjo Kazooie away from Nintendo they turned it into almost a totally different game. I was a huge fan of Banjo-Kazooie back when it was released in the 1990s. One of the reasons I purchased an XBox 360 back in the day, was just so I could play the “newest” Banjo and Kazooie game (“Nuts and Bolts”). Only to be utterly disappointed. I was a huge fan of the 3D collectathon genre, this was not what I had wanted...

Looks like the same thing has happened again with this game. I know that I am in the minority but I have never really enjoyed playing the DKC games. I don’t hate the games but I am someone who would much rather play a 3D collectathon game over a 2D sidescrolling game. Plus there are A LOT of other 2D sidescolling games already available on the market. Yooka-Laylee brought back a genre that I absolutely loved in the past (“a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie”). Yooka-Laylee may not have been on the same level that was the original Banjo-Kazooie but at least it helped to revitalise a genre that I was sorely missing. That was the reason why I was so hyped for Yooka-Laylee when it was first released. To those people who DO like the DKC games though, happy gaming (😃). I may still pick this up sometime but probably only if I find it at a discount.

Re: Review: Stranger Things 3: The Game - Netflix's '80s-Themed Sci-Fi Series Comes To Switch

Nintendzoey

Sorry, I disagree with the first paragraph of this review (about video games once being more associated with movies than TV series and them being “few and far between”).
Sure, there used to be a video game for almost any movie that was released at the time. However, I found that the same also applied to TV series (especially cartoon TV series).

Think of any cartoon from the 1980s or 1990s and chances are that there was also a video game for that show (even obscure shows, such as “Widget the World Watcher” had a video game created for them). TV series such as Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, DuckTales, ALF, Tiny Toon Adventures, Animaniacs, SuperTed, Inspector Gadget, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, The Simpsons, Futurama, South Park, Family Guy, The Smurfs, Rugrats, SpongeBob SquarePants, Jimmy Neutron etc. all had (sometimes multiple) video games created for them.

Re: Banjo-Kazooie Switch Listing Appears On Amazon Germany, But We Wouldn't Count On It

Nintendzoey

This is what I have been asking for years. Literally years.
The N64 was the second Nintendo home console I ever owned (after the NES, which I had in the 1980s). I never had a SNES. Banjo-Kazooie was my favourite game that I owned on that console (tied of course with Super Mario 64).

Anyway, Banjo-Kazooie was and has remained one of my favourite games of all time. I must have played it (to 100%) about 10 to 20 times over the years since it was released (including on the XBox).

I was devastated when XBox took Banjo away from Nintendo though. To see them in a game (a rerelease of the original?) on the Switch would be... there are no words... I will try not to get my hopes up too much but please let this be true! ❤️

Re: Feature: Best Nintendo Switch Games

Nintendzoey

Good choices! I can not say that I like all of those games (some of them just do not appeal to me at all) but there are many on the list that I do like. I never had the Wii U, so many of these games were firsts for me.
My favourite games (that I own) so far would be:

  • Captain Toad - Treasure Trackers
  • Crash Bandicoot - N-Sane Trilogy [I had all of these on the Playstation when they were first released back in the day]
  • Dragon Quest Builders
  • Go Vacation [I had a lot of fun trying to find and capture photos of all those creatures - especially the thing in the sky at night (at the skate park) / the thing in the lake - (don’t want to give too much away)]
  • Lego City Undercover
  • Letter Quest Remastered
  • Mario Kart 8
  • My Time At Portia [if it were not for the bugs / glitches]
  • Piczle Lines
  • Phoenix Wright - Ace Attorney Trilogy [even though I have played them all previously on the DS]
  • Super Mario Odyssey
  • Wheel Of Fortune [I have always been a big fan of this [I grew up on the Australian version in the 1980s/ 1990s], although I had to purchase it from the USA, as it is not sold in Australia]
  • Yooka Laylee [“Banjo-Kazooie” is one of my favourite games of all time, this is not on that level but I still liked it]
  • Yoshi’s Crafted World
  • Zelda: BotW

Re: Physical Super Mario Maker 2 Goodies Are Available For Free On My Nintendo In Japan

Nintendzoey

I love how they want me to fill out surveys for games that I purchase on Switch. They offer to reward me with “platinum points” that can be used for Wii U or 3DS game rewards. Um, hello?.. I am using the “Switch”, remember?
There is nothing there that I can actually use the platinum points for (at least not in Australia). Club Nintendo was far better than this (at least I could actually use the points for something back then).

Re: Round-Up The Animals Again, In The Complete Edition Of Harvest Moon: Light Of Hope

Nintendzoey

@Nathan The bugs / glitches for the Switch version of “My Time At Portia” are worse than ever (for me at least) after the patch. Completely unplayable in some areas. I had no problems (well, “game breaking” problems) before the patch. Now I definitely do. This is just following the same normal everyday game day routine (which I had no problems with before the “patch”). Now I can not even make it halfway through a game day (before something happens to make the game absolutely unplayable). 😡

Seems they just rushed out this patch without even checking it first!

Some examples:

  • When trying to spar with an NPC, a black screen occurs whilst the battle music plays, then after a while it simply goes back to the game and my player is frozen and unable to move.
  • When trying to pet animals in the barn, a glitch where a neverending (game freezing) animation of petting that animal sometimes occurs.
  • When trying to take photos for quests, you are told “maximum photos reached”, which renders the quests uncompletable. Deleting the photos does not work or fix the situation.
  • After climbing off my horse, my players head is twisted around in an oddly disturbing angle.
  • I can not complete commissions or give presents. Whenever I try to give any of the NPCs anything (presents or their commissions) the game breaks. Sometimes my character freezes and can not move. Sometimes I can move but my players arms are stuck in a “reaching out” (“giving presents”) position and when I try moving, my player starts sliding [instead of walking]. I can not do anything at all [talk to NPCs / pick up items / enter buildings etc.] whilst my player is [stuck / until new day, or reset] in this position.
  • Posting comissions on the Civil Corps board can freeze the game completely.

These are all things that I could easily do before the patch (except for the photos one). Now the game is just a complete mess.

Re: My Time At Portia Switch Update Improves Performance And Adds New Content

Nintendzoey

It is a great game. I had never even heard of it until it launched on the Switch. I never really experienced major glitches or problems with it and have finished the main storyline (or thereabouts). Have enjoyed “my time at Portia” (so much in fact, that it has been hard to put it down at times). The only bad thing has been the excruciatingly long load times when first starting up the game (although once into the game, the load times have been decent). Hope this update can successfully iron out the wrinkles that other people have experienced on the Switch.

Re: Review: Cuphead - The Xbox Masterpiece Becomes An Essential Purchase On Switch

Nintendzoey

Can Nintendo make a game which is a cross between Mario (in regards to the level of difficulty / platforming) and Cuphead please? That would be an instant buy from me. I love the animation style, [always been an early Disney (including Silly Symphonies - which Cuphead reminds me of) fan] music and the other aesthetics of this game.

I would prefer more of a platformer though (instead of many boss battles) and a more relaxed play style. I did grow up with difficult games on my NES back in the 1980s / 1990s (such as “Battletoads”) but was never able to finish some of them, no matter how hard I tried.

These days I much prefer games that you can see through to the end. Cuphead would definitely be one of those games. Since I think that would not be the case, I will have to pass. No matter how amazing the game looks.

Re: Animal Crossing Is Now 18 Years Old

Nintendzoey

I am more than double the age of Animal Crossing then... the years really do go by too fast when you get older. Seems like the 1990s were only just yesterday. I will probably be as old as Tortimer before I know it. 😆

Re: Video: Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Was Almost A Completely Different Game

Nintendzoey

This was released in Australia before the rest of the world. I downloaded it on day one (so could have been one of the first to be able to play it). I do remember playing the Christmas event but got bored with this game after a while. Probably been more than a year since I last played. However, I am anticipating the Switch version later this year. 👍

Re: Feature: The Big Nintendo Direct Summary - 13th February

Nintendzoey

Not the best Direct in my opinion, was alright I suppose.
No mention of Animal Crossing, Luigi’s Mansion, a possible Spyro release or Kingdom Hearts (was not expecting KH for the Switch anyway but this site seems to like to hype us up for it).

The only games that I am possibly interested in that were shown were Super Mario Maker and Zelda, with Dragon Quest also looking like it could be a great game as well. Odyssey and Breath of the Wild were the two games that I bought the Switch for in the first place anyway. Always Mario and Zelda. 😃

I love Disney but am not a big fan of Tsum Tsum (and that game looked dull to me). Not much from Disney has been released to the switch and THAT is what we are getting? I would love a good game set in the Disney universe for the Switch (does not necessarily have to be KH) over that.

Re: Nintendo Download: 31st January (North America)

Nintendzoey

I am playing Farm Together on the Switch. I had never even heard of it until a day or two ago. Actually not a bad game for those who like farming type games.
The only thing that may be a problem is that it requires a constant internet connection. It dropped out for me a few times whilst playing.

There is no story at all (as far as I have seen). There are special events though (based on real time). There is a special valentines event on at the moment [a “collect enough of this to win special limited-time only awards” type event]. I think that there are 10 or 11 days left for it.
I have also heard from various people that there will be regular updates to the game as well (new items added to the game etc.).

This is best suited to those that like to decorate / farm, without anything else to get in the way. I am still in the early stages at the moment but am enjoying it. It is the type of game that is great for short bursts of gameplay (a perfect fit I think for the Switch / provided that you have constant access to the internet).

Re: Random: Nintendo Fan Turns Television Into A Gigantic Switch

Nintendzoey

So is this actually a TV, or is it leaked proof that Sony is developing their own version of the Switch? This Switch seems to state that it is indeed from Sony.
Too bad it is not a Microsoft Switch. Maybe then we could have some luck with getting “Banjo-Kazooie” on to Switch? [“Banjo-Kazooie coming in 2022 to the Microsoft XBox Switch?” 🤔] 😄
