Re: Frustrated Fan Makes My Nintendo Physical Reward Stock Checker

Nintendzoey

All we have ever had on the Australian My Nintendo store is a bunch of 3DS and Wii U discounts (no physical rewards / anything related to the Switch).. I don't even have either of those systems. I have long since stopped answering any of Nintendo's surveys because the points only ever sit there and then expire six months later. There is nothing for me to spend the points on.
[There are some printable things but I do not have a printer either.]

Re: Best Of 2020: The Game That Starred Mickey Mouse, Ghostbusters Or Garfield, Depending On Your Region

Nintendzoey

I remember playing a game with a totally different character named Hugo, close to 30 years ago. The title of the game was "Hugo's House of Horrors" - released for DOS [which is the version I used to play] and apparently there was also a Windows version released as well. The game was kind of similar (if I remember correctly) in gameplay / setting to "Maniac Mansion". I remember that one of my friends had one of the sequels (which I had to look up): "Hugo III - Jungle Of Doom". I don't think that I ever really played that one though.

Re: Random: Man Accidentally Names Nephew After A Pokรฉmon

Nintendzoey

In response to some of the other comments here - A friend of mine is named Zackary (it would seem that Zachary is maybe a more common spelling though). A lot of people have spelt his name as "Zach" over the years and he does not like that. He tells people that if they want to shorten it, then shorten it to "Zack" as there is no "H" in his name. He does not like seeing his name written like that.

Re: Hardware Review: Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. - A Gorgeous Object That Leaves You Wanting More

Nintendzoey

I grew up playing Donkey Kong Jr. Game & Watch and Oil Panic (dual screen) Game & Watch in the 1980s. I see that this is sold out though, as well as a limited time release.. Never mind then. Would have been nice but not going to pay an exorbitant price to a scalper for one. I had a hard enough time trying to secure a Mini NES, here in Australia, when they were first released..

Re: Adorable Pikmin 3 Deluxe Coasters Appear On My Nintendo Europe

Nintendzoey

All we have ever had on the Australian My Nintendo store is a bunch of 3DS and Wii U discounts (no physical rewards).. I don't even have either of those systems. I love when they send a Nintendo survey for a game that I am playing on the Switch, meaning the "rewarded" points are worthless. I miss the Club Nintendo days, there may not have always been good something on the Club Nintendo store but the points were not always worthless either.

Re: Reminder: The Kingdom Hearts: Melody Of Memory Demo Is Now Available On The Switch eShop

Nintendzoey

I hope they are not using this to test whether KH would be popular on Switch (and worth porting over). I absolutely suck at rhythm games, I always have, I just can not get the timing down. I tried the demo for this last night and as thought, I sucked at it - I lost halfway through, on an "easy" level. This is one game that I will not be buying.
I do love the KH games though, I have played every handheld game (all the games that came out for the DS and even the PSP one). If the actual KH game(s) were to be released for Switch, I would buy it / them in an instant.

Re: Review: Goosebumps Dead Of Night - Survival Horror For Kids That's Far Too Short

Nintendzoey

I went through a stage (back when I was a teenager) in the early to mid 1990s where I just had to (or tried to) own every single book that R.L. Stine released - Goosebumps / Fear Street / Ghosts Of Fear Street (although the "Ghosts Of Fear Street" series was only released under his name, the books themselves were written by a variety of different authors).. I used to loan them out to all of my cousins and friends, basically I was a lending library for them.. ๐Ÿ˜„

Re: Banjo-Kazooie, Byleth And Terry Bogard Smash Bros. amiibo Release Planned For 2021

Nintendzoey

@Ventilator A friend of mine works at EB Games here in Australia, she knew that I was a big fan of Banjo-Kazooie so gave me a phone call when she heard of the Banjo-Kazooie Totaku release. Just wanted to make sure that I knew about it, in case they sold out of them. She ordered it in for me. ๐Ÿ˜€
As for the First 4 Figure, the first time I heard about it (or saw it) was on here. I knew I had to get it. ๐Ÿ‘
My friend has also been able to get me a few other Totaku figures as well - I now have Crash Bandicoot / Conker / Spyro / Sonic.

Re: Anniversary: Super Mario Land Launched 30 Years Ago Today In Europe

Nintendzoey

I owned a NES back in the 1980s and grew up playing the original Super Mario Bros. games. Loved them, of course.
One of my younger sisters (born in 1983) was given a Game Boy for her birthday [back when they were first released] and a few games including 'Super Mario Land'. Being the nice sister that she is, she let me play her Game Boy whenever I wanted (provided she was not already playing it, of course ๐Ÿ˜). So naturally, being a big fan of the Super Mario Bros. games, this is one game that I was itching to play. Was disappointed to find that I really did not like (or care) for it. It just felt off somehow.. I have not played it since.
She was given '6 Golden Coins' sometime later, now that is a game that I loved instantly!

Re: Poll: Super Mario 3D All-Stars Is One Week ๏ปฟAway - Which Game Will You Play First?

Nintendzoey

Have to start with Mario 64. The world's introduction to 3D Mario games. Interested in playing Sunshine as well though, as I never owned a Game Cube. I seem to skip every second generation of Nintendo home consoles. I had the NES (when it was originally released in the 1980s), followed by the N64 and then the Wii.. and now a Switch, of course.

Mario 64 holds the most memories of the three for me though. When it first arrived, it was like nothing I had ever seen (or played) before.. I had only ever played the original Super Mario Bros. (1 / 2 / 3) on my NES, so Super Mario 64 seemed like a whole new world..

Re: Review: Super Mario All-Stars - All That Glitters Isn't Necessarily Gold

Nintendzoey

I owned the original NES back in the day but never had a SNES. However, my younger cousins did own a SNES when it was released in the 1990s. They also owned a copy of All-Stars. Never really cared for the All-Star versions myself (even though I would play them when I visited my cousins). After growing up with the original games, I had gotten used to the look of each game. To this day, I still prefer the original games but my cousins like the All-Star versions.

Re: Feature: Animal Crossing Character Names Around The World - A Few Of Our Favourite Variants

Nintendzoey

Thought I would look up a couple of my favourite villagers as well:

Rooney: Maiku [Japanese] / Mike [French] / Balzak [Italian] / Robert [German] / Cerillo [Spanish]

  • [May be a reference to the boxer Mike Tyson (as featured in Nintendo's Punch Out).]
  • [Not too sure about Rooney's Italian name though, it almost sounds like something else to me....]

Lyman: Ozumondo [Japanese] / Kalyptus [French] / Nicola [Italian] / Pepe [German]

  • [Lyman's French name sounds like "eucalyptus", a tree which grows leaves that koalas are well known for eating]

Eugene: Rokki [Japanese] / Jamy [French] / Corrado [Italian] / Sunny [German] / Eucalin [Spanish]

  • [I like the name "Rokki" (Rocky) for Eugene, I personally think that the name Rocky may have suited him better]

Ozzie: Donguri [Japanese] / Koko [French] / Koloa [Spanish] / Oskar [German]

  • [Ozzie's Spanish name - well, he is a "koala"]

Kody: Aidaho [Japanese] / Bill [French] / Salomone [Italian]

  • [There is already a duck villager named Bill though - his name is "Choco" in French]

Sydney: Shidoni [Japanese] / Koaline [French] / Silke [German]

  • [However, Sydney's name remains mostly the same worldwide, glad to see this as Sydney is my favourite female villager in the game - plus I am from Sydney (Australia) as well]

Re: Has The Chibi-Robo Studio Skip Pulled The Plug On Development?

Nintendzoey

I played Chibi Robo: Park Patrol many years ago on the DS. I loved that game and was excited when I heard that there was to be a new Chibi Robo game on the 3DS. When I saw the type of game Zip Lash was to be though, I was very disappointed and decided to stay clear of it. I was hoping to send a message to them that this was not the type of Chibi Robo game that I wanted.

Re: Switch Joy-Con Drift Claim Must Be Arbitrated, Says Illinois Federal Court

Nintendzoey

The joy-cons are utterly useless rubbish! So sick and tired of the drift. Like many people are saying, if you ARE able to fix them, it may only be temporary. The joy-cons cost about $120 Australian, which is too much to pay for something that may suddenly just stop functioning properly at any moment.
Some of my games have been almost unplayable because of the drift. For example, Animal Crossing. One of my villagers wanted to move out and I did not want them to. I intended to select "no, don't go" but my joy-con had another idea.. just as I pushed the correct option, it changed (or rather the joy-con drifted) to "yes, leave town" and I could not make the villager stay..

My little sister (she is in her mid 30s) has even decided not to purchase a Switch. She was intending to but after all of the trouble I have had with mine, decided against it. Which is a shame because if it was not for the drift, this could have possibly been one of Nintendo's greatest consoles yet..

Re: Feature: Every Nintendo Switch Online NES Game Ranked

Nintendzoey

@the4seer I know exactly what you mean. When Super Mario 3 is announced in the movie.. it is like the movie saying "This Is Your childhood".. absolute goosebumps, I agree.
That movie was everything (along with "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", which I also saw when it was first released to theatres) to me as a kid. I actually have a signed poster of "The Wizard" signed by the cast [Todd Holland (the director), Beau Bridges, Luke Edwards, Christian Slater and Fred Savage] except for Jenny Lewis unfortunately. I have it framed and hung in my living room.
Still remember watching the movie and seeing the flute location in the first castle as well.. I remember racing home to find it on my actual NES game. Sad that kids these days will probably not be able to experience anything like that, the internet provides all the secrets now.

Re: Feature: Every Nintendo Switch Online NES Game Ranked

Nintendzoey

Yes, Mario 1 2 and 3 are classics. I have played them so many times over the years (since they were first released) that I have lost count.. it may be in the hundreds.. or even thousands..
Had them on every Nintendo console I have ever owned, I think (of course, starting with the NES).
This is also a big reason why the movie "The Wizard" is a classic to me. You have to love a movie that features Super Mario 3 as the main attraction!

Re: How Well Do You Know Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

Nintendzoey

I got 6/7 right. Only got the painting one wrong [I chose "she winks at you" instead of "she closes her eyes".. do I get half a point because I said she closes one of her eyes? ๐Ÿ˜] - Redd's art is the one thing in the game that I don't know much about so far.

Re: Random: Reggie Says Animal Crossing: New Horizons Should Give Out More Star Fragments - Do You Agree?

Nintendzoey

Been playing sinch launch. Never seen a shooting star, never had a meteor show, don't have any star fragments.. at this stage beginning to think I may never get any at all.. but have had Celeste in my game plenty of times. No point her giving me the D.I.Y. recipes if I can not do anything with them though.. I do play a lot at night and keep on checking the night sky but never anything..

Re: Video: Animal Crossing amiibo Are Selling For More Than The Game Itself

Nintendzoey

Back when these were released, I decided to just stick to collecting one series of the cards. Was not going to spend a fortune trying to collect all of the series. I decided to pick one of my favourite villagers and told myself that I would only collect the series that this villager (Ozzie the koala) was in. As it turns out, Ozzie appeared in series 2 of the cards [cards number 101 to 200].. so that is the series that I decided to collect. I must have opened a stack of series 2 card packets. However, I was not able to get Ankha the Egyptian cat, no matter how many packets I opened.. I just find it weird that the only card I was not able to get from a packet (from series 2) is one of the big fan favourites. Not a big favourite of mine but it would have been nice if I could have completed the series nevertheless. I did try looking on eBay at the time but even back then, the Ankha card was going for a small fortune.

Other than that, I had decided to try and track down the koala villager cards as well (the koalas are my favourite villager type). It worked in my favour that the koalas are not as popular as some of the other villager types because it made tracking them down a bit easier. I also had a look for the villagers that I personally like from the other series. I was able to get: 071 - Yuka / 080 - Eugene / 221 - Kody (a sporty bear cub) / 239 - Ricky (a cranky squirrel) / 270 - Rooney (a cranky kangaroo - Rooney is one of my favorite villagers as well) / 281 - Lyman / 377 - Sydney.

I had a look at the Welcome Amiibo cards when they were first released. I saw that there was also another koala villager in there, Gonzo (a cranky old man koala, who I presume is named after The Muppets character ๐Ÿ‘), so I purchased him too. I have Gonzo living in my town in New Horizons now. Love him. Gonzo likes to say "mate".. well, I am Australian as well, so I kind of do as well. ๐Ÿ˜

Re: Guide: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Turnip Exchange - Make Millions Of Bells The Easy Way

Nintendzoey

I am never going to buy turnips ever again. I don't know what happened but I spent a small fortune on them on Sunday morning. I put them on the floor of my house (as you can not put them in storage). They were fine when I next played the game (Sunday afternoon). Then I played the game again on Sunday night and they had all rotted.. don't know how or why.. I don't time travel in my game. However, daylight savings in Australia had just ended. This should not have interfered with it though, as daylight savings ended before I bought the turnips. I had to put all of the wasted money.. um, rotten turnips into the garbage bin I have in the game.. Would have just been easier if I could have just thrown my money into the river instead.

Re: Review: Murder By Numbers - Ace Attorney Meets Picross In This Engaging Detective Adventure

Nintendzoey

Just wanted to warn people to be very, VERY careful if you purchase this game. Chapter 3 has a puzzle that is extremely easy to miss. If you do not find / complete this puzzle in time (before the story advances) you will have to restart the entire chapter all over again if you wish to make it to "S" rank and unlock all of the bonus puzzles. So many other people have also easily missed this puzzle and replaying the chapter means that you will have do redo all of the puzzles all over again (and wasting another few hours).. Just thought I would give you a heads up.. Please just be VERY thorough when playing chapter 3.

Re: Nintendo's Request To Dismiss Joy-Con Drift Lawsuit Gets Rejected

Nintendzoey

I have had my Switch for about two years now. I got drift on my left joy-con (after a year) so purchased a replacement.. but soon after it started drifting on the right joy-con as well. My sister was contemplating buying a Switch herself but decided against it after all the trouble that I have had with mine. Why should I have to fork over money because of THEIR issue?.. For a pair, they cost about $120 in Australia.

Re: Hands On: Dipping Into Island Life In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Nintendzoey

I have the amiibo cards for my favourite villagers. Just trying to decide who I should invite to my campsite first.. Rooney, Ozzie and Eugene are at the top of my list.. I would like to know how many villagers you can have in your town, as I have quite a few favourites from previous games in the series. Would be good to have as many of them as I can get living in my town again. Also eager to find out if there are any new villagers and who they / what species they are.

Re: Mario Is Number One In This Poll About Most Wanted Live-Action Video Game Movies

Nintendzoey

I saw "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" at the movies in the 1980s, loved it.. Bob Hoskins was great. Then, a few years later, I heard about a new (at the time) Super Mario Bros. movie, also starring Bob Hoskins.. No way was I going to miss seeing that.. All these years later, I still have not been able to make up my mind whether I liked it or not. Not at all what I was expecting. The theme song from Roxette is great though, "Almost Unreal". I have always been a big Roxette fan, was sad to hear about the passing of Marie back in December.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons amiibo Functionality Detailed

Nintendzoey

What an absolutely fantastic Direct! It answered my questions and showed how annoying things from previous games (placement of villagers houses etc.) have been fixed.
Great to see that you can use Amiibo cards to get your favourite villagers into the game (as I have the cards for them). This was probably what I wanted the most! Great to see that they implemented it.
Also, love that you can now fix or create your own terrain.
No more Christmas in winter for us Australians as well.. now we can finally have our Christmas in summer.
Now I really can't wait for this game to release. I already have it preloaded on my Switch.

Re: Random: Storm Ciara Decapitates A Rare Video Gaming Legend

Nintendzoey

Why blame Conker? It was obviously Gruntilda or Klungo. She is still sore about being defeated by the duo. She has been planning her revenge for many years. As soon as she saw poor Kazooie outside, she knew this was her chance. Remember that playing outside was what got Banjo's sister Tooty kidnapped in the first place! They should have known better than to move her outside.. it is dangerous out there. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Re: Video: How Will Animal Crossing: New Horizons Use amiibo?

Nintendzoey

I have the amiibo cards for nearly all of my favourite characters. Would be great if you could scan a card and get that villager in your game again. I know some people like to be surprised with which villagers you get but when you have been playing for as long as I have, you already know which villagers you want (well, except if there are any new villagers ๐Ÿ˜ƒ). Ozzie, Eugene, Melba and Rooney I am looking at you especially! Yes, I love the Australian animals (but then again, I am Australian myself). ๐Ÿ‘

Re: Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa Thinks Cloud Gaming Is "A Long Way Off"

Nintendzoey

@Kalmaro My brother-in-law told me that he has unlimited data. They are with a different provider than me though. Whenever I go to stay with my sister and him, he always tells me that I can use as much as I like. So I always download the big games to my Switch when I go to see them. The provider that I am with though (a cheaper data company - one that I personally can actually afford) does not have an unlimited data option. I have researched all of the providers in my area though, this is the one that provides the best affordability for someone in my price range.
