Re: Princess Peach's Voice Actor Has Been Replaced After 18 Years

NatiaAdamo

@NPC411 @Dom_31 SAG-AFTRA has long looked the other way when it came to Global Rule 1 (Don't work for any non-union roles) for Video Game Voice Actors. However, when the strike began last year, they heavily started to pressure VAs to follow that rule, which is kind of hard considering at least 75-80% of voice acting performances isn't unionized. (Not just dubbing for games/anime, but also voice-over work for stuff like commercials and audiobooks)

The "union" has also been bullying studios who aren't on the strike list and I assume Nintendo is one of them. However, it's possible the bullying has backfired (thanks in part to a few voice actors...) and most video game companies are starting to avoid any LA voice actors for many years to come. (Which means good news for those living outside of the US, especially the UK)

Could anyone see if Laura Faye Smith still voices Rosalina? If not than it's very certain Nintendo is replacing VAs to avoid going though the union. (IMHO, that's a good thing because F SAG.)

Re: Persona 4 Voice Actor May Have Accidentally Confirmed The Remake

NatiaAdamo

@GameOtaku They already did remakes for P1 and both P2 games... On the PSP. Though IIRC, a few years ago, Atlus put out a poll about that games people wanted remastered, with both Persona 2 games tied for second place. First place went to 3.

@GregamanX ...You are aware they did change Kanji's voice actor. Hell, his voice was swapped out in the middle of the anime's dub. That said, if you mean Matthew Mercer, it's possible he might come back, considering he voices Yusuke (Not Yosuke) in Persona 5.

Re: Fortnite Devs Hit With Unfair Labour Practice Filing Following AI Darth Vader Fiasco

Yea, I'm going to side with Epic here. Not because I like GenAI, but because I hate SAG-AFTRA. Especially the crap they pulled with Genshin.

Short version: SAG-AFTRA tried to bully Hoyo into making Genshin a union project under the guise of AI protection, when it was actually was a ploy to make it so only actors from the TMZ (Basically LA) could be on the project. The whole thing fell apart when one of the newer VAs was replaced and a couple of the other VAs jumped on him for being a scab, despite ALL of them being scabs to begin with. (Since they were working on a non-union project)

Re: Nintendo Left Sony "Standing At The Altar" With SNES Disk Add-On, Says Former PlayStation Exec

NatiaAdamo

I think you guys are missing something important. This was 90's Sony. The same Sony that was throwing huge stacks of money around, buying up Columbia Pictures and CBS Music. The PlayStation deal was basically step one of a longer plan to buy out Nintendo in a unfriendly buyout at best.

I would also consider that many iconic Nintendo IPs would of never existed (Star Fox, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Country) if they had to stick with CDs. I also think most Sony IPs would of been butterflied away if not for Sony needing to strike out on its own.

Re: Saudi Arabia's PIF Further Reduces Its Stake In Nintendo

@Twilite9 Some random left-wing leaning consultant group that people are assuming to be worse than Satan, despite them only giving modest suggestions at best and threatening to "Cancel" a developer if they dare turn them down. It's always telling that they bring up games that bomb as examples as their works (Like SS: Kill the Justice League and Concord) but never bring the fact they also had a hand of games that were very successful (Baldur's Gate 3 and Spiderman 2 for example). Basically, whenever someone mentions them, they will almost always follow it up about "Wokeness" or "DEI" Strawmen.

Re: Nintendo Would Rather "Organically Expand The Organisation" Than Rely Solely On Acquisitions

NatiaAdamo

@Kev_2610 When Level 5 actually releases a game that is. I'm honestly amazed how many missed moonshots they have made in the past decade and still be a private company. You think with IPs like Layton and Yo-Kai Watch (Yes, I'm biased) they would of been corporate raided by now.

@Kingy If I recall correctly, Nintendo owns minority stakes of Intelligent Systems and HaL. I do think they might have plans to circle the wagons if need be. Wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo is starting to do just that with Game Freak.
