Re: Nintendo Is Reportedly Targeting AI-Generated Mario Pictures

NatiaAdamo

@Xeacons Freedom of speech is the freedom of speech FROM the GOVERNMENT. As in Uncle Sam can't smite you speaking your mind, but your Uncle from Nintendo can smite you if you break their TOS. Remember that as big as video game companies/websites are they are still private places. Their bouncers don't need to be lawyers to kick you out.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda '80s Cartoon Series Gets DVD Re-Release

NatiaAdamo

There's a reason why the Super Mario Bros Super Show has influenced the main Mario universe, but this show is a black elephant on the Zelda series (I would argue the Zelda CD-i games had more influence than this show.) Though I would eat my words if there is a scene in the Zelda movie where Link says "Well EXCUUUUSE Me, Princess."

Re: Pizza Tower Finally Dashes Onto Switch Today

@burninmylight

As a person who personally helped fund the game though development (Again, in the credits) and though reading the links @N00BiSH has linked... I have no regrets from funding the game, double dipping on both Steam and Switch, and buying merch of the game. (Love the Fangamer Pizza Tower Cup)

My take on the situation is this, McPig/Pizza Tower Guy has an chudish online persona. Does this make him an chud IRL? I'm going to er on the side of no. I'm not excusing him of his behavior, but I will give him credit that when confronted with his past behavior, he took the L & tried to apologize. Was it enough? Eh, the mob will never accept one but what he said was better than saying nothing or doubling down.

As for stereotypes... That's basically IS the whole set design for the game. Why are people mad about the whole Native American Cheese-slimes but don't care about the literal Pig Cops or Mr Stick, the landlord that takes your money. Now if he put in something like blackface or a buck toothed Asian, that I would call them out on. I believe stereotypes, if done right, are an effective form of comedy. I believe the Pizza Tower Team have done a banger job at this, though they should retire any Native American stereotypes for their next project.

I'm not going to force you to buy and play the game @burninmylight, nor I will be the Sam-I-Am to bother you about trying this Green Eggs and Ham. Yet I wish you could just say "No sir, I do not like it" and move on with life.

Re: Pizza Tower Finally Dashes Onto Switch Today

Kind of biased because I'm in the credits, but it's a great game!

@N00BiSH They aren't racist, it's just Twitter being Twitter. Can't say 100% on the Indian thing, but the so called "Jewish" stereotype is more based on Mr Burns and Scourge. Poor taste, I can coincide to that, but racist? No.

Re: Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time Has Been Delayed Again

NatiaAdamo

Something tells me that trouble is brewing at Level-5. These consent delays are less of a "Let's let it bake a few more months to make sure it's fully done" and more of a "Nope, let's throw this out and start ALL over. If I was Nintendo, I would buy a 25% stake in the company to find out what the heck is going on to cause all this confusion and delay.

Re: Tales Of Kenzera: Zau Studio Is Reportedly Facing Layoffs

NatiaAdamo

@russell-marlow Well then, where IS this evidence? The GDC conference video for example, surely you could at least tell me what the title of it is and the timestamp of the comment made by the executive.

Also, what are the sources that AREN'T from "paid off websites"? You make it seem like it's easier to list off who isn't "paid off" than who are "paid-off".

Re: Sonic Team Open To More Characters From Comic Series Appearing In Games

NatiaAdamo

@RareFan I could see the trio as being the former right hand bots of Eggman/Robotnik before he created Orbbot and Cubebot. As for their roles, I can see them being minor villains whenever Eggman is busy cooking up his schemes. Something to keep Sonic busy between his regular "Save the world from Eggman/what ever pandora's box said person opened this time" activities.

@ottoecamn They really should try to fit in the current humans and "Mobians" (Which I use to describe all anthropomorphic bipedal animals like Sonic and Co) into a main line story rather than be in a youtube video. (The current explanation is that the humans live on continents while the Mobians mostly live on smaller islands.)

@Druidsbrook Kind of want to see something from Atlus, but they should have a team of lawyers ready, just in case a certain Penders tries to sue.

Re: Nintendo Issues Multiple DMCAs On The Modding Site 'GameBanana'

NatiaAdamo

@Anrei Try looking up their anti-monopoly tactics. Other than the usual "Internet Explorer VS Netscape" browser wars, I would look up "AARD Code". A fake error message used in Pre-Release versions of Windows 3.1 to fool people that the DOS they used (in this case DR-DOS) was incompatible with Windows when it actually was.

Re: Nintendo Issues Multiple DMCAs On The Modding Site 'GameBanana'

NatiaAdamo

@silverdamascus You do realize that American Copyright terms are actually shorter than the rest of the world? 95 years sounds like a long time but consider that the usual standard for copyright for most of the world is "Lifetime of creator + 75 Years". So in the case of Mickey Mouse, he wouldn't be in the public domain until 2042 if the US used the world standard. Granted, ALL of Walt's works would also be put into the public domain at the same time, but still.

Re: Talking Point: How Do You Define 'Retro'?

NatiaAdamo

I feel like gaming needs a term similar how people describe the eras of Hollywood or Comic Books. "Generations" is good enough term, but sort of falls apart when when you start placing the non-mainstream consoles into the timeline (Also the lack of a concrete first and second generation doesn't help things either). The waters are murky because of how the generations overlap each other. Consider that the NES had new games being made for it until 1994 or how the PS2 kept going until 2012.

For me personally, retro is at least two to three generations old at the least.
