Re: Pac-Man Museum+ Brings 14 Games In The Series To Switch

NatiaAdamo

Actually, Bandai Namco does own the copyright and IP of Ms. Pac-Man, but if they ever use her or her game, they would need to pay some royalties to AtGames. In other words, AtGames gets free money whenever Ms Pac-Man is used. I also have a feeling that even if AtGames were to sell the royalties to B-N, it's most likely just to be cheaper to buy out the whole of the company.

Re: Talking Point: Switch Is A Juggernaut, But Nintendo Will Still Feel Investor Pressure

NatiaAdamo

@MysticX Osborne effect. They don't want to announce a new console when it's not just ready to launch and the current models are selling well. See what happened to Sega in the Post-Genesis 90's.
@uptownsoul Could be possible. Only reasons why the Switch wasn't backwards compatible with the Wii U was with the change from disks to carts and the change of architecture from PowerPC to ARM.
@IronMan30 Porridge today, Gromit! TUESDAY!

Re: Review: Shin Megami Tensei V - The Best Entry Yet In This Dark, Engrossing RPG Series

NatiaAdamo

@Kr96 Again, blame the transition to being Sega owned as a major factor on the slow down.

@wuntyme8 Persona 4 is likely because of the success of P4G on Steam, but Persona 3 would be a challenge. Trying to fit the additions from FES along with the Female MC from P3 Portable could make it quite messy. The fact that some parts of P3's story and gameplay have NOT aged well along with the matter of Junpei's English Voice Actor...

@SwitchVogel @Warioware Simple. Atlus' parent company went belly-up and Sega bought them in 2014.

@nessisonett Drag Queen? No. Character that turns you bisexual the moment you see them? YES.

@anoyonmus For once, the Persona comparison makes sense. It's more of a combination of SMT and Persona with Fire Emblem frosting on top.

@Warioware And that becomes cringe to look at a few years later when it's no longer is the top of the graphics world.

Re: HBO's '8-Bit Christmas' Is Giving The NES Power Glove Another Shot At Movie Glory

NatiaAdamo

So when does this movie take place? If it isn't 1988, then it's not believable. It would be MUCH more relatable to try to get Mario or Zelda 2 in that Holiday season.

(BTW, Nintendo wasn't lying about not having enough copies of either in 1988. The short story was the chips that Mario and Zelda 2 needed were just being discontinued for better versions of said chips. Add to that ALL NES games were made in Japan, along side the massive need for the same chips for Mario 3's Japanese release... Yea, it was real.)

Re: The Developers Of Hit Switch Game 'Calculator' Are Making A Popeye Game

@victordamazio Uh, no. It wasn't JUST Disney. If you must blame someone, blame all the studios of Hollywood.

The real problem with copyright is that it's a one-size system. It's fine when the work is by one or two people, but any bigger than that and it kind of breaks down. That and the base 95 years for a "work for hire" just doesn't work for younger mediums like TV or Video Games. The staggering number of media that is just floating around without a clear owner is worrying for many in the preservation community.

Re: Open-World RPG 'Honor Of Kings: World' Looks To Fuse 'Monster Hunter' With 'Zelda: Breath Of The Wild'

NatiaAdamo

@naxuu But then it's going to loaded with so many mircotransactions that even EA and Activision would be wary.

@Octane_st1m I think the main technical problem with Genshin is that it runs on Unity. Nintendo's version of Unity has a number of differences than PC Unity. The question now becomes "Is Genshin on Switch going to be a native port or a cloud version?" If it's the later, I don't think the Switch version is going to arrive until the mobile cloud version happens.

>Tencent

And like that, you lost me.

On a more serious note, this could indirectly help Genshin. This project might light a fire under MiHoYo and force them to make Genshin better to counter Tencent. But then again, this could turn into a Cyberpunk 2077 and MiHoYo will win by default, like Luigi.

Puts tinfoil hat on I also have a theory that Genshin isn't on the Switch just yet because of Tencent leaning on Nintendo not to do so. Tencent REALLY hates MiHoYo for it's success mostly because of envy and being rejected as a publisher for the game. Tenecent literally called September 28th 2020 (The launch day for Genshin) "The Darkest day in Video Game History"

Or it could be that the PS4 version of Genshin is a bad port and the Switch is less powerful than a PS4.
