Re: Sonic Team Open To More Characters From Comic Series Appearing In Games

NatiaAdamo

@RareFan I could see the trio as being the former right hand bots of Eggman/Robotnik before he created Orbbot and Cubebot. As for their roles, I can see them being minor villains whenever Eggman is busy cooking up his schemes. Something to keep Sonic busy between his regular "Save the world from Eggman/what ever pandora's box said person opened this time" activities.

@ottoecamn They really should try to fit in the current humans and "Mobians" (Which I use to describe all anthropomorphic bipedal animals like Sonic and Co) into a main line story rather than be in a youtube video. (The current explanation is that the humans live on continents while the Mobians mostly live on smaller islands.)

@Druidsbrook Kind of want to see something from Atlus, but they should have a team of lawyers ready, just in case a certain Penders tries to sue.

@Anrei Try looking up their anti-monopoly tactics. Other than the usual "Internet Explorer VS Netscape" browser wars, I would look up "AARD Code". A fake error message used in Pre-Release versions of Windows 3.1 to fool people that the DOS they used (in this case DR-DOS) was incompatible with Windows when it actually was.

@silverdamascus You do realize that American Copyright terms are actually shorter than the rest of the world? 95 years sounds like a long time but consider that the usual standard for copyright for most of the world is "Lifetime of creator + 75 Years". So in the case of Mickey Mouse, he wouldn't be in the public domain until 2042 if the US used the world standard. Granted, ALL of Walt's works would also be put into the public domain at the same time, but still.

Re: Talking Point: How Do You Define 'Retro'?

NatiaAdamo

I feel like gaming needs a term similar how people describe the eras of Hollywood or Comic Books. "Generations" is good enough term, but sort of falls apart when when you start placing the non-mainstream consoles into the timeline (Also the lack of a concrete first and second generation doesn't help things either). The waters are murky because of how the generations overlap each other. Consider that the NES had new games being made for it until 1994 or how the PS2 kept going until 2012.

For me personally, retro is at least two to three generations old at the least.

Re: Mailbox: 'Switch 2' Launch Ports, Soulslikes For Beginners, Poké Parks - Nintendo Life Letters

NatiaAdamo

Considering the timeframe of when the Switch 2 will launch, I would put some chips down on Mihoyo/Hoyoverse throwing it's weight on the system. I'm thinking of a parallel to June 2017 where the Switch got a boost with Fortnite launching on the Switch.

Assuming Sony doesn't have some sort of console exclusivity rights, a triple play of Zenless Zone Zero, Honkai Star Rail, AND Genshin Impact could get a good amount of players from those games to jump into the Nintendo ecosystem.

Re: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Online Pre-Orders Are Apparently Being Cancelled (US)

I have a hunch that Nintendo of America is still scarred from when SSBU was leaked a week early because of a Mexican retailer breaking street date. Thus because of this, whenever a retailer like Amazon or Walmart ships a game before a street date, they have to take action against them for shipping it early. My guess why it's happening now is send the message before the Switch 2 is announced to say "Play by OUR rules or you're not getting as many consoles as insert other retailer"

Re: Sega Sells Relic Entertainment And Announces Layoffs Across Multiple Teams

NatiaAdamo

I have a feeling that Rovio helped soften the blow a bit. Without the Angry Birds money printer (Not as high as King or Hoyoverse, but still a money printer) I would figure Sega might of killed Relic and even Creative Assembly as well.

@Zeebor15 You're a bit mixed up. Relic made Company of War. (And Age of Empires 4). Creative Assembly is the one making Total War games.

Re: Feature: "It Would Be Really Cool To Do A Retrospective On Iwata" - Atari's CEO On Acquisitions & Dream Collaborations

@Zeebor15 To be fair, they know quite a number of people who got the pink slip as of late. Embracer has a lot of things, but little to show. EA has their sports games, Activision (Before they got nommed by Xbox) had Call of Duty, Ubisoft has Assassin's creed and so on. The company is also kind of new in the gaming space. Sure the studios that make (or have made) it up existed for some time, but the umbrella is only a decade or so old. It's also a general annoyance that whenever a company faces tough hardship, they NEVER try to cut the wages of those who got them into the mess in the first place.
