Re: Genshin Impact Creator Announces "Immersive Virtual World Experience" HoYoverse

@HotGoomba Virtual Girls AND Boys.

@Bobb One of the many downsides of Unity. Could also be that MiHoYo is already juggling five different ports at the same time and adding a sixth wouldn't be possible with a major patch happening every 6 weeks or so.

@SwitchVogel There's actually a cloud version of the game in the Mainland Chinese server, so once it starts rolling out to the International servers, I think we MIGHT see the Switch port be converted to a cloud version.

@Jbuggydroid Not just when its running, but also the game itself. And it's still growing in size as well.

@HammerGalladeBro Care to explain why?

Re: Genshin Impact Creator Announces "Immersive Virtual World Experience" HoYoverse

There are a number of reasons why Genshin isn't on the Switch. Performance aside, I think Sony made a deal with MiHoYo just after the Switch announcement for the game to be PlayStation Console (Mobile and PC aside) exclusive. Sony does do a whole lot of advertising for the game, so that must of been part of the deal, in exchange for Aloy being in the game. I also have a tinfoil conspiracy that Tencent is also leaning on Nintendo not to have the game on the Switch. Short version is that MiHoYo rejected a buyout of the company by Tencent and it's success really pissed them off because of how much Genshin has made, SO FAR. Meanwhile, Tencent is helping Nintendo sell a region-exclusive Switch on the market in Mainland China. So it's tempting to think that Tencent is throwing another wrench into the lack of updates on the status of the Genshin Switch port.

@KevTastic84 You know of grinding in an RPG? Think of doing that but for "actual" money.

@Fizza I'm going to give Sega the benefit of a doubt for this. The trademark they filed might just for them to prevent anyone trying to use their brand name in any project. I'm thinking more in the legal area than in the commercial.

Re: Talking Point: Who Is Nintendo Going To Buy? Don't Be Shocked If The Answer Is "Nobody"

NatiaAdamo

Another reason why Nintendo doesn't buy developers is because usually those whose names people throw around that Nintendo could buy also have ties with other entertainment industries. Sega for example also owns more anime studio TMS. Nintendo is one of the very few video game companies that ONLY does Video Games.

Though if they were to buy someone out, I would place bets on MercuryStream or Level 5.

Re: Metroid Prime Dev Confirms That Nintendo Blocked The Addition Of Super Metroid To The Game

@Specter_of-the_OLED To be fair, I think the management change to Iwata allowed Nintendo to accept some emulators after 2002.

@SeantheDon29 I don't think it's fair to compare the two. Third Party Emulators are more focused on playing as many games as possible, while Nintendo wants their games to work near 1:1 as their Original release. Thing is, this is Nintendo we're talking about, they try to re-invent the wheel more often than one might like. They've been using multiple different emulators from different parts of the company.

Re: One Of The Rarest SNES Games Ever Is Making A Comeback

NatiaAdamo

Nice. Though I doubt any of these games will be added to the NSO SNES collection. This sounds more like an Evercade type of deal. Either way, it's better these games are given a re-release than sitting in whatever vault they have been in since the turn of the millennium.

Re: NES Action Shooter 'Copper Jacket' Hits Funding Goal On Kickstarter

@Specter_of-the_OLED Actually, it's not the chip that's the problem, it's the cartage port. The NES has a lock and key system where the cart communicates with a chip in both the cart and the system. Over the years of use, the pins in the console bend leading to a bad connection where the console can't see the cart's chip, thus forcing the console to keep resetting, causing the blinking red light.
