I'm unsure what this might mean for Kate Higgins - I know she just did Pauline's voice in MKWorld, and it's most likely they just wanted a younger sounding actress for this younger take on the character, but given how quickly Nintendo's been tossing out the OG VAs for the rest of the Mario cast, I'm a little uncertain.
But as for Jenny Kidd herself, from what I heard, I think she's a great fit as Pauline. The direction she's given isn't doing her any favors, but in the terms of the voice itself, it's (Odd)rock solid - almost a dead ringer for Higgins herself. They did an A+ job finding someone who could successfully match that specific voice for the character. Makes you wonder why they couldn't reach the same level of quality when recasting Mario.
@The_Nintend_Pedant I'm aware of Pocket Tales(the GBC title), but that was only one game - it wasn't long before Bad Fur Day became the conversation stealer. I'd say the tonal shift there was a lot less abrupt and jarring than what happened with Bomber and Pac-Man.
@The_Nintend_Pedant
"Wrong, he regularly butt stomps and shoulder tackles bricks in order to find secret areas."
Notice how you didn't mention punching, as well as the many different environmental transformations - which also don't factor in punching.
"This is crazy weak argumentation, talk about a distinction without a difference!"
Do you get a different endings when you collect more Stars and Moons in Mario? No. You don't. There's a difference. The number of collectables you get don't radically alter the outcome compared to Wario, which rewards you with a multitude of different endings depending on how much you get(and in some cases, how quickly you get them).
"Punching is not very "Wario" even though he is big and strong AND punched in at least one game before."
As I said, his games are not about strength and his muscle is not what define him - they are facets, but not the sole facets. Wario's major character trait is his Greed. It's the main motivator behind all of his actions and what his platformer games are designed around.
Punching makes more sense for DK because his most defining trait is his massive strength, which he's utilized multiple times in past titles - even in the Country games he's thrown punches.
@The_Nintend_Pedant Wario isn't the type to destroy the environment with his bare hands - he's more likely to use bombs and explosives. Besides, Wario Land games aren't about strength and destruction, they're about greed and exploration. Punching isn't a Wario move in those games. Wario World has punching, but that's only one game and destruction still isn't the point.
"Excuse me but are you not digging in the ground searching for "crystal bananas?""
You're collecting those because that's the just the goal of a collectathon platformer - no different than Power Stars or Jiggies. In Wario, you collect treasure in order to get the best possible outcome. Not the same.
@AussieMcBucket in a game where an ape wearing a tie is traversing Hollow Earth, I feel like this is the weirdest thing to be skeptical of in terms of suspension of disbelief.
@YunoboCo people are well within their rights to express their distance of something, but if you're going to do so - constantly I might add - the least you can do is articulate your dislike in a more constructive sense. Otherwise you're better off not saying anything at all.
@YunoboCo Digging for garbage must be hard work - especially if you have nothing to really contribute except for the most basic and boring armchair art critique
@StuTwo it's also worth mentioning that Luigi's Mansion 3 began as Wii U title. Metroid Dread was originally made for the DS. Banjo-Kazooie started as a SNES game.
Oh BOY! I can't wait to sit through ANOTHER 92-minute commercial littered with asinine celebrity casting, unfitting pop music choices, and a heavy reliance on "remember this" setpieces to substitute for the flaccidly written narrative and poorly represented characters!
Eh, doesn't matter. Donkey Kong Cinema already peaked anyways.
@AllBLK I've been critical of a lot of Nintendo's questionable practices and low standards for certain areas in the past AND present. Just because I don't think the current topic at hand is a big deal doesn't mean I'm complacent with EVERYTHING they do.
@AllBLK I'd say it's also ridiculous to excessively doompost about potentially miniscule performance issues on a game you haven't even played to fully judge yet, but that hasn't stopped you, now has it?
@IOI Having played and replayed the demo of Bananza enough times, I can tell you right now: this is being overblown. There were no significant frame dips from my playing(on a SW2 in handheld mode to be precise), and nothing that reached TotK-levels of noticeable. It's really not that bad.
Okay at first it was cute but this whole "we need to scrutinize Nintendo on everything they do regardless of the scale of the issue" bit really needs to stop
@The_Nintend_Pedant Mario hasn't punched in a mainline game since 64, my guy. No one but you has a problem with DK punching because at the end of the day punching is the simplest and most effective to way to convey that super strong and powerful characters like DK(the BIG, HULKING MUSCULAR FIVE HUNDRED POUND GORILLA) as just that.
@Kiliomp No. Wrong. It's actually because DK'S teeth are stronger than the average human's, meaning he's more than capable of chewing through these crystal bananas without dental harm. Plus, he IS breaking them into pieces every time he finds one, so that definitely helps with the eating process.

@The_Nintend_Pedant I don't think Conker really counts. It was always known for being pretty edgy
Re: Review: Shadow Labyrinth - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - Sometimes 'Good Enough' Is Just That
The world needed another Bomberman: Act Zero. Glad Pac-Man answered the call.

@The_Nintend_Pedant I'll take that as a compliment, if only because this argument is starting to blue screen my brain. You do you.

@The_Nintend_Pedant there really is nothing Wario-like about Bananza. Treasure hunting isn't really the focus here.
Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Donkey Kong Bananza
@DaGoldenBoo if repetitive brawling was really an issue, fighting games, beat 'em-ups and spectacle fighters wouldn't be as present as they are.

@AussieMcBucket "Obviously, they wanted to use a bird for flight. So why not pick one that can actually fly?"
