Well since Sega has said pretty much nothing about their Jet Set revival(especially egregious given its the OG's 25th anniversary) I'll gladly take what I can get. Especially when considering how great BRC was.
I won't be playing it anytime soon, but yes, I am VERY interested in trying the VB as God intended someday and I totally get why they'd emphasize the headset with this*. I don't think a lot of people realize just how much the 3D in these games matter to the experience. Yes, you can technically see them on a flat screen, but I feel that's missing the point. The games were entirely designed with total depth perception in mind and that really does change how you engage with them(the best examples being Mario Clash and Jack Bros). I truly think everyone should experience the system and its games at least once, if only just for the history of the thing. Heck if they don't want to shell out for the headset there's always Red Viper.
*this does not mean I agree with the price, I think it definitely should be half of what's on offer. Or at the very least include a replica controller alongside it, good grief
@poyo_pie Galaxy 1 wasn't really about exploration either - it was more linear than the likes of 64 and Sunshine. Galaxy 2 just polished it up a little more which is great if you liked that but me, I can take it or leave it.
@poyo_pie @Yoshi3 You say that, but if I'm being real, I only find one of these games more redundant than the other, and it's not the one with the reused map, I'll say that much.
@sixrings really good games don't need remakes. They just need to be better preserved. I respect what they're doing with these Galaxy ports far more than I would if they remade them.
And yeah, I would've been fine with OG Prime. It still holds up well. I appreciate what the remaster offered but I don't see it as the definitive replacement. Same with the Zelda remasters, as a matter of fact.
@sixrings I'll answer that by rephrasing my comment: how would overglossed pointless remakes of 2 Wii games that still hold up remarkably well be a good showcase of the SW2's horsepower
Anyways, something I've found interesting as of late is how Tears of the Kingdom's detractors write that game off as "overpriced DLC" and meanwhile Galaxy 2 is showered with glowing praise even though it was originally $60 and started out as DLC for Galaxy 1.
Not trying to start anything, just a thought that I had.
@PinderSchloss not entirely impossible. They still have most of the original character and background art archived so I imagine recreating the visuals wouldn't be too much of a hassle.
@CainTheConfused I second this. Gamers are the absolute worst and even if you do give them what they think they want they'll still complain about it either way.
@MyMemory "complete copycat" tells me you haven't really played this game. Antonblast may take cues from Wario Land, but it's very much its own unique bird and goes above and beyond being a simple "Wario Land copycat" as you believe. Besides, if Nintendo was really concerned about Antonblast stealing Wario Land's thunder, they could just. Make a new Wario Land game.
@The_Nintendo_Pedant do we have to call anything we don't like fluff nowadays. In the olden days when we didn't like something we just walked the other way and gave them no words. Can't do that anymore. Now we just endlessly kvetch and pretend it'll get us somewhere.
Surprised that people are dismissing this as overkill. Sakurai literally said he had more info to reveal and the first Direct had a teaser for some kind of involved story mode at the end.
Wait, why wasn't THIS in the Direct?? What are we doing here, we got more expositing on PowerWash Simulator 2 when we could've gotten the rundown on Star Force, yeesh!
@CaleBoi25 I'm not as upset with this as I am with the Martinet-Afghani shift, rather just more confused on what the priorities are for the whole "Mario recast" at this point. Let's cast one guy for all of Charles's roles but get four VAs for Peach and the Toads. While we're at it, let's recast the guy who did the Talking Flowers even though by all accounts he's still currently available. What is going on, I have to wonder(flower)
only thing that actively interested me was the Museum showcasing Mario art. Otherwise? Eh. The storybook is nice though, I love a bit of defictionalization.
@Yoshi3 Make no mistake, I am NOT defending these practices, I've got a LOT of issue with the way Nintendo's running things nowadays. I just feel like everyone's piling on so much salt that any conversation around those practices is starting to feel stale and a bit overdone, if that makes sense.
@Yoshi3 this is getting us nowhere. The MAIN POINT that I'm trying to make(and admittedly fumbled at making) is that acting like Nintendo is only NOW becoming more greedy is kinda being ignorant to the ways they've always tried to get more money out of their players no matter the leadership and that's unlikely to change.
@Yoshi3 Day One DLC doesn't really work here because it'd have to be available at launch for that to be applicable. For example, Mario Kart 8's OG DLC came out in the same year as the game but not right at launch. Alternatively, the Piranha Plant DLC for Smash Ultimate would qualify as "Day One DLC".
@Yoshi3 New Nintendo my left foot. At the end of the day they're still a business and they're always gonna find new ways to make profit. And the Wii U and 3DS eras were literally the start of all this paid DLC stuff so that's not a great comparison.

Re: Nintendo Museum Introduces "Limited-Time" Mario Bros. 40th Anniversary Ticket
@Anti-Matter yeah this is nowhere near as egregious as you think
Re: Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac Switch And Switch 2 Performance & Resolution Detailed
@YunoboCo they disrespected the original by thinking it needed a remake at all.
Re: Bomb Rush Cyberfunk Dev Reveals Another Jet Set Radio-Style Game
@Tayrailbridge so do most video game sequels, what's your point

Because getting a new Mega Man game just wasn't open for consideration, apparently!
Re: Nintendo Music "Special Release" Adds Tracks From Donkey Kong Bananza Today
I'm glad they're doing more of these "Special Release" deals. Hopefully we get one for Mario Kart World.

"Wahoo" indeed.

@MyMemory what the heck are "Wario Days?" Do you mean The Year of Luigi?

@Max_the_German Super Mario Land 3 isn't on there either but you don't see me crying about it

@Elbow Figures someone would try to port Doom to the thing. I'll check it out.
Re: Antonblast Appears To Be Jumping On The Virtual Boy Bandwagon
@Elbow the Virtual Boy has fangames? I mean, I shouldn't be too surprised, but here I am
Re: Antonblast Appears To Be Jumping On The Virtual Boy Bandwagon
@AussieMcBucket the tease is most likely for the long hinted-at "Lime Challenge," an extra mode in the game.

Re: Feature: Jump, Man - A Celebration Of The Greatest Jumps In Gaming
@Misima being simple does not make a character inherently bad and they don't need to have internal struggles or deeper motives to be interesting.
Re: Feature: Jump, Man - A Celebration Of The Greatest Jumps In Gaming
An article about jumping? You must be hopping mad.
Re: Surprise! Kirby Air Riders Is Getting A Second Direct
@The_Nintendo_Pedant I don't see the salient point of complaining about getting more information on a game.

These comments are abysmal oh my God, we don't need to be so aggressively cynical about a flipping DESK TOY
Re: ICYMI: If You Want To Play Virtual Boy Classics, You'll Need To Buy One Of Nintendo's Accessories
@BTB20 that's the only true dud imo. The other games are still relatively solid.

@Warioware no, the games were actually fairly solid. The problem was the hardware.
Re: Rosalina's Storybook From Super Mario Galaxy Goes On Sale This November
Fun to see some defictionalization, but I wonder: if they didn't want to add the new pages to this, why bother making new pages at all?

Nintendo is Nintendo. There is no "old" or "new"
Re: It's Official, The Mario Movie Sequel Is Based On Mario Galaxy
@Elbarbo God forbid. The last thing Mario needs is hyperrealistic overdefined textures and RTX nonsense.
