As a COMPLETE surprise to me, I have played more Mr. Driller: Drill Land than I ever thought. One of those "just one more" games that sucks up more time than you think. It's wonderful...
@Averagewriter The parry mechanic didn't bother me that much. I played the original Return of Samus as a lad and this fixed virtually every issue with it, but kept the spirit. I have it just behind the othertwo modern 2D portable system Metroids... but it respectably places right along side them (and they're all great).
I know people want game news... BUT THIS IS HUGE. Disneyland ensured a permanence to those characters. This does the same. Our grandkids will love Mario and the Mushroom Kingdom long after we're gone. Everything about this Direct hit me in the feels.
"Scraping the barrel?" Come on... this is absolutely no more ridiculous than Dr. Dolphin. In fact, with this game, I WELCOME ridiculous. Dr. 1-Up Mushroom, Dr. Question Block, and Dr. Cheep Cheep would ALL be welcomed.
@alexybubble The developer created a similarly spectacular mini masterpiece based on Greek mythology called "Don't Look Back." Definitely worth a look:
Had me at Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes. That was a darn near PERFECT integration of RPG and puzzle mechanics. I'll be getting this straight away based on the strength of developer.
@John_Deacon I fear the lack of BF highlighting indicates it's probably a small side game, at best. Having logged 200+ hours on the Wii U, I don't imagine there'll be enough to draw me back.
Ready for a Superman 64 re-release of the beloved classic. Might be licensing issues so they could just call it Super Duper Man 64 or something. The fans want that awful camera and for the main character to erratically fly around as if inebriated.
FYI: The WWE 2K game is worth less than the price of $0. It's buggy, generally unplayable, has interminable load times, plays slow as molasses, and is not fun. There are intriguing wrestling games coming our way soon (Yukes' AEW and RetroMania). Save your SD card space for those.
Those platforms really are no longer rivals with Nintendo. The Switch is a different thing altogether. The future will be a player having a Sony/MS/PC and a Switch. And I'm legitimately happy to see dedicated, fully developed games succeeding in the market.
I'm not delighted by cloud based gaming, but if it's the mechanism that gets current gen titles on aging system not designed for horsepower... I could make peace with it.
So long as first party, exclusives, and indie titles remain native.
The genius of the Switch is that Nintendo no longer competes in their space. Going forward, people will own an MS, Sony, or PC and a Switch. Nintendo will have a lower price point and portability they can't match (and aren't interested in).
Attack of the Friday Monsters was one of the most beautiful, melancholy, nostalgic games I've ever played. I am legitimately sad we'll be losing the company that made it. First Alpha Dream, now this ((((((
Miyamoto made this and Mole Mania at roughly the same time. Both were overshadowed by the SNES. Which is a pity... these are each absolute level-based puzzle masterpieces.
@Lordplops There is probably over a dozen wonderful 3DS that I just missed (so many great games!). I'll be purchasing those and the cheap and enjoying this system for years to come.
@DanTee This is my main issue with both 64 and Sunshine. They're GREAT games! So many clever and innovative elements in both! That said, when I've tried to revisit them in recent years, the camera issues are always a real problem for me. This has been so thoroughly solved in recent recent releases, going back to the old ones feels like going from a Rolls Royce to mule. It seems like "port 'em directly" was the ethos of this collection, so I fear there won't be a fix on this. Which is a real pity...
There were a bunch of tawdry little blip and dot "games" released in the 80's that were typically dull and repetitive. The Game & Watch series was my first taste of "Nintendo Quality" and when the NES arrived, my family bought it right away based on the strength of the brand. These were an immense entry point for Nintendo in the home market.
I've long since given up expecting universal happiness about anything on fan boards. Nintendo could announce that they've physically built the entire kingdom of Hyrule and that a teleportation sensor secretly built into the Switch will allow people to go there instantly, and there'd be a bunch of "meh, still waiting on the Prime 4 announcement" posts on this board.
The idea of a turn based medieval version of football sounds great. However, Blood Bowl games have tended to play slower than molasses with an opaque rule set that demands SERIOUS investment from players.
If they can balance depth with approachability I'm cautiously interested.

@idork99 Samus Returns will be a GREAT 10-15 hours for you. Super intense every second.
Re: Review: Dicey Dungeons - A Raucous Roguelike Adventure Which Everyone Should Try
This feels like a breezier version of Slay the Spire... which is totally welcome. Terry Cavanaugh is one of the best Western game designers out there.
Re: Check Out These Lovely Christmas Cards From Some Of Gaming's Big Names
The Cuphead one is a surprise. I thought that greeting card had been delayed until 2023.
Re: Miyamoto "Not Concerned" About Who Will Replace Him At Nintendo
@JuiceMan_V With games like Mario + Rabbids and Cadence of Hyrule, it's clear designers big and small have internalized his design philosophy.

Re: Try Your Luck In Roguelike Deck-Builder Dicey Dungeons, Rolling To Switch eShop Today
A Terry Cavanaugh game AND a Capybara game arriving in the eshop on the same day???? It's an embarrassment of riches.

Re: Random: Amateur Dev Releases Reimagined Remakes Of The 1993 Zelda CD-i Games
The greatest contribution of these games has been YTP. They nearly eclipse the source material from that weird a$$ DKC cartoon.

Awkwafina is a comedian, but her dramatic role in "The Farewell" was touching and wonderful:

Re: Free Demo For Kirby Fighters 2 Appears On The Switch eShop
This is a WONDERFUL Smash alternative for folks with kids who are a little too young to get the nuance of Smash's combat system.
This an approachable little game with real depth and a lot of content.
Re: Video: 3D Platformer Pumpkin Jack Gets A Frightfully Action-Packed Launch Trailer
@aznable The developers call the game a "celebration of PS2 era platformers" so the camera is for authenticity 🤣.

Re: Review: Spinch - A Deliciously Enjoyable Sugar Rush
Note to indie developers: GO WEIRD AND BEAUTIFUL. We have enough "retro" games. Do more stuff like this.
Re: Where To Pre-Order Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity On Nintendo Switch
@TheFrenchiestFry The Samurai Jack game shares designers and DNA with the best musou games. It's great. They've really refined the formula.
Re: Nintendo Reveals Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, A New Zelda Set 100 Years Before Breath Of The Wild
@thesilverbrick "musou fatigue" is absolutely a real thing... but Ultimate Alliance and now this have pulled me right back in!

Re: Mario's Anniversary Puma Kicks Will Be Available In Sunshine And Galaxy Variants
Still prefer the Van's line. These are much better than the red/blue reveal last week.
Re: There Are Currently No Plans To Bring More Kingdom Hearts Games To Switch
@Blizzia There's a thing where games that would sell aren't getting releases (or full releases) on the Switch. Apparently people hate money?
Re: Puma Looks Ready To Pounce On Super Mario's 35th Anniversary With Some Nintendo-Branded Sneakers
Vans is the undisputed champ.
Re: Nintendo Announces Super Mario Remasters And Much More In Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary Direct
@BigassToaster "Be happy, this is incredible."
I've long since given up expecting universal happiness about anything on fan boards. Early impressions are the Vans line was better.

Re: Rocky Comes To Switch In Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions
