@Teksetter Kirby and the Rainbow Curse was pretty much "gamepad required" as was Star Fox: Zero. Should they figure out a way to make those viable on the Switch (which I suspect is inevitable at this point), yes, the Wii U will officially disappear as generation.
It's a longshot, but there's one SMALL addition I'd like to see Nintendo make... include a download code for Pikmin 1 & 2 with purchase (similar to what they did with Bayonetta). The Gamecube versions still look fine and the file size would be tiny by modern standards. That would be enough to get me to bite on this (as I own the Wii U version).
I'm prepared to be hated for this... but I think Cuphead (one of the most beautiful games ever made) should have an easy mode. The absence of this, honestly, has ensured many players will never see it all.
The margins on theme parks are razor thin. Huge revenue but huge operational expense. Many won't survive 1 year plus of lost revenue, let alone build or expand.
I think they had regular delays, the Netflix deal happened, and they'll now launch at or near the show's release. I also expect (despite their "hard game" ethos) the DLC will include an easy mode option for the full game as they will want the property to be as accessible as possible for a large audience.
I really believe they are transitioning from being an innovative indie game company to one that has a character they want to see join Sonic, Mega Man, Mario, etc. as a cultural placement. And the DLC release will now be a part of that.
@rushiosan You're the real MVP. These needs to be shouted LOUDLY. This is a great game that is inviting players to take it on in dozens of different ways...
They need to be careful because too much of a price increase and consumers will go full "ARRRR... MATEY!" instead of paying full retail. If media costs too much or is difficult to access, history shows this ALWAYS happens.
@KammyWh1te I expect when the new systems arrive, Nintendo will have a price drop and release the SMB remaster collection along with BotW 2 in short order. They'll be fine.
I hope they up the save slots. I've got a main game save with Octavo, a dungeon crawl with Link, and a dungeon crawl with Zelda. I like playing on all these and I'm RIDICULOUSLY excited about the DLC. But 3 save slots with so much content is a problem.
Btw, is it weird that Cadence has SURPASSED my love for the (excellent!) Link's Awakening to take the solid #2 Zelda this generation for me?
BotW was extremely hardcore... but completely accessible to casual players. My 7 year old daughter played it like Animal Crossing collecting outfits, riding different horses, and building her house.
So long as Prime keeps the things I like, I'm fine with putting in features that appeal to all audiences.
@Perryg92 I am absolutely ready for Hyrule Rabbids. Soliani has wanted to do a Zelda game for years and Mario + Rabbids was so good that he's an honorary Nintendo employee. Maybe someday...
@1UP_MARIO I LOVED the look and feel of the game. It was also hilarious. Unfortunately, like Sticker Star, there were required (and sometimes obtuse) required progression points. This made a wonderful game feel frustrating.
@Apportal Subcultures of fandom have a segment of every community primed to hate every new thing. I've generally quit listening to user reviews on enthusiast sites.
@Magician The game would absolutely need to be rebuilt top to bottom as swipes and spins with the stylus were crucial to combat throughout. I would just add that for all the kvetching about the 3DS control scheme, it never bothered me in the slightest (play while seated, pillow/cushion on my lap for the right side of the 3DS to rest on, control the d-pad with my left hand, stylus with my right... no stress or hand cramps at all).
@fafonio Consesus generally is that all three of the first PM games were wonderful (with TYD being the most beloved). If Oragami is consistent with all those, most people will be happy.
I was iffy on Mr. Driller: DrillLand's price, but bought it based on NL's rating. Holy cow... I'm sleep deprived based on the number of hours I've logged on it. If the puzzle mechanic lands with you, get ready to be sucked into this game like few others.
I was concerned that $30 might be a little steep for a "clear the board" puzzler, but it appears this has an extensive, story-based single player campaign and charm to spare. Buying tonight.
@mariomaster96 That's what I'm hoping for. ALBW did a great job of balancing open exploration with clearly defined (but accessible) progression points. Sticker Star and Color Splash had required progression points with frustratingly obtuse requirements for progression.
I don't mind challenge, hard puzzles, etc. But clarity is essential in an adventure game. This hopefully has that.
@nessisonett I think an entire generation of developers not only love Nintendo. They've religiously studied the design choices of the company. It's why so many western 2nd and 3rd party Nintendo games now functionally could be considered first party titles.
@NinChocolate My hunch is that he's playing a bad guy character much like a professional wrestler or Bobby Riggs when he played Billie Jean King in tennis. He WANTS to be hated. Infamy can get a person very famou$.
"New personal best tonight for the King of Kong: 1,092,100 points. The basement dwellers can talk from their keyboards. I’ll continue to smash out scores and keep winning. Billy Mitchell always has a plan."
This is GOLD. When King of Kong came out, I said that Billy Mitchell was the greatest screen villain since the original incarnations of Darth Vader and Hannibal Lector. I stand by this assessment. Long live Billy.
The description of a lackluster story mode has me bummed about this. The FTP model pretty much guarantees that I'll be getting decimated in online battles. I had hoped that a fully developed story mode would make up for that (and I would have gladly paid for one; the game looks cool).
Obviously the human and economic costs of the pandemic are the real concern... but it's also sad how much it will push back theme parks, live shows, movies, concerts, etc. I don't expect SNW to open in the US for a decade. We may return to normal in a year or so. Rebooting all these industries will take much, much longer 😥.
I LOVE indie studios that do something unique in terms of art. I'm thinking Cuphead, Aviary Attorney, and stuff like this. Please, indie developers... I loved the 8 & 16 bit eras as much as anyone, but we have enough of those types of games. Do something like this... be bold and creative.
@elpardo1984 The Rogue Squadron games are the holy grail of needed ports. Put them all in a single package: Rogue Squadron Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike Episode I: Battle for Naboo
That's a 100+ hours of content with all the replaying those games demanded. Plus, I don't think any games before or since have felt more like the quintessential "Star Wars" experience.
Indie developers are giving us titles we've longed for: Strikers (this game) and TYD (Bug Fables). I would hope this is some sort of signal to Nintendo.

Re: September Issue Of Nintendo Dream To Reveal Switch Game "Everyone Will Enjoy"
@LilMuku Star Fox Zero, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, 3DW, the HD Zelda remasters... we have YEARS of "new" Wii U games ahead of us.
Re: Review: Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time - Jack's Back In An Enjoyable, If Unoriginal, Slash 'Em Up
You had me at Team Ninja. They really have a knack for repetitive but fun beat em ups. Like knitting.
Re: Oceanhorn 2 Dev Shares First Official Screenshot Of The Upcoming Switch Port
If you want a Zelda inspired indie, the "Ittl Dew" games are WAY, WAY better.
Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Has Sold More Copies Than The Entire Metroid Franchise
@PickledKong64 It's a pity, because Samus Returns was GREAT.
Re: Soapbox: There's No Shame In Playing On Easy, Even If You're A Pro
@AstralSoul Completion of the "easy mode" on Cuphead levels doesn't allow for level progression. You don't collect souls with knockouts.

Way easier and more plausible solution... Spike needs to port the current Fire Pro (the best wrestling game on the planet) to the Switch.
Re: Poll: Paper Mario: The Origami King Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?
@Anti-Matter The high price of TTYD coupled with the fact that it crashes almost all emulation makes it a fine candidate for re-release eventually.

Re: Here's Your Very First Look At The Cuphead Show "Coming Soon" To Netflix
@Not_Soos Exactly. It took the creative and financial horsepower of Disney to produce a new Steamboat Willie style short in the style of Cuphead:

A full series like that was probably beyond the scope of what Netflix could do.
