However, and I agree with almost everyone here, the price of Pokemon Home is 'very' excessive, I hope that Nintendo and The Pokemon Company consider lowering that price, especially for those of us who use the Bank, too.

The lack of enthusiasm is palpable.

I'm not exactly jumping for joy over the price, buuuuut I have been looking forward to having my old Pokemon on a more modern console/system since Home's announcement.

How long can you let your subscription elapse before they erase your 'mon?

The fact that they deliberately gimped the trading features in S&S to incentivize people to buy this sub makes me sick.

@Ralizah they have a judge feature in Home, so there's a chance they axe that too in future games to force the Competitive players who don't transfer to get Home

The irony (and hypocrisy) of Home symbolising Game Freak/TPCi's increasing inhospitable treatment of their fans.

I used to think lots of people would spring for the app but given the lackluster response, I'm starting to have my doubts

@jamesthemagi We'll see. A bunch of people swore up and down that they wouldn't buy Sword and Shield, only for it to bust sales records wide open. I'm just going to abuse the Wonder Trade to complete my Dex here.

@Liam_Doolan Yes it is - I have an iPhone 7 and downloaded it approx 15 mins ago. It can’t be found through searching on the App Store, but going to The Pokémon Company’s developer page allows you to access HOME and download it that way.

Is anyone else having trouble linking their Nintendo account to the mobile version of Home?

@technotreegrass Yes! That’s what surprised me so much. I thought it was a glitch at first. But there was no marker in the Home app on Switch saying those pokemon weren’t compatible. However, they don’t have a number in the Pokédex, like Mew and Galatian Slopoke.

I transferred all my Bank mon and the Switch Home and mobile Home app now show Error: 992. My Bank is now empty and 17 years worth of Pokémon are who knows where.

The price doesn't bother me at all. It's less than a pack of trading cards.

So they lock features behind different versions. Why not include them all in the Switch version? Why is Nintendo pushing smartphones on us and our children?

However, they've smartphone walled it.

The Pokemons' art is ATROCIOUS..... they shoud really add an option to keep the Pixel Pokemons' art in the boxes.

Just kind of fiddling with it now. There's already been ovee 12000 trades over the GTS, lol. I'll check it out further. But I think for the time being, I'll use it just to transfer Pokémon to Shield and trades to finish the Galar Pokedex. Don't necessarily need storage

@technotreegrass I just found out you can also import Incineroar, Solgaleo, and Necrozma!! Those are the ones i have, so I’m assuming the other gen 7 starters and Lunala are transferable, too!!

@Xiovanni Because like it or not, smartphones are everywhere these days. It's just assumed people have access to them. That's going to screw over some people no doubt, but it's not remotely a problem limited to this service or Nintendo. It's a broad societal problem.

Society is being forced to evolve in such a way that you just need a smartphone or you are held back from nearly everything. You need them for jobs, for schools, for ordering food in restaurants, they're being pushed to control everything in homes, they connect to our cars, we can use them to make purchases.

No matter how many people point out all the legitimate problems in this trend, I've seen no signs of it slowing at all. If anything, it's only getting worse.

On the news last week I read about "smart shoes" that connect to your phone to give you walking advice, and a "smart toothbrush" to send info about your teeth to your phone...

Didn't something like the smart toothbrush already exist? Except it displayed the information on a little LCD instead of relying on an external device.

@playstation_king there's 35 old Pokemon allowed in that aren't part of the Galar dex. Serebii has a list of which ones

Boohoo. Are those cry babies back for more? "OMG its so expensive, cant buy it from my parents money." Funny how people think anything should be free and the developers and servers not be paid. Its not even that expensive beside of the fact that the basic feature is free.

I do think its pointless with Lets Go and Sword Shield because Gamefreak didnt even add all Pokemon to the Pokedex. Why would I even bother trading Pokemon that are available on the Edition... Wish they released an Update that added the whole Pokedex.

@miitomobenji Yep. The switch app is mostly just for transferring from game to game. Everything else happens in the mobile app. I know, it's a bit silly.

@hanp01 Using an Android emulator on Windows I was able to download the Android version and there linking my Nintendo account wasn't a problem.

Just a heads up...

The article states that Pokémon Home is compatible with Pokémon Go, but this isn't the case right now. That functionality is coming later.

Still can’t find it on the UK iOS store.

@Judgedean Search under Pokemon Company not PC International. Same developer as Pokemon Masters rather than Pokemon TV for example.

I think the app is a bit disappointing. Although it fulfils the basic goals within the published limitations I have two issues with it:
1) Transferring from Bank to Home is fiddly and slow. One box at a time and typing the code on the 3DS is a pain. There's no progress bar or notification when the process is complete and it can take a few minutes. You have to keep logging in to Home to see if it's ready.
2) You can only see stats for Pokémon that are within Home from the iOS app. That means no judging, browsing or trading the game boxes without first extracting a Pokémon from Sword/Shield to the Home boxes. The National Dex browser is rudimentary. As such the iOS app is a waste and only required because the Switch version is crippled.

Of note, I have an active Bank subscription but have been switched to the free trial. I am hoping this means that my paid subscription has paused and therefore been extended. I plan to retain Bank alongside Home Premium to use with the older games.

If i use it probably will only be the free version, I think I have a few pokemon in the bank I might try to transfer over.

I've been wanting mobile access to Bank for a long time, so that feature is exciting for me. I don't own a Switch, and probably won't for awhile, but I'm eager to get a Home subscription so I can start wonder trading. There's nothing preventing me from using Home despite not having a Switch right? I assume I can catch relevant 'mons in the 3DS/DS games and then just pass them through to Home for trading. I can work on my 'dex for my eventual purchase of Sword and Shield.

I'm still holding out hope for additional features, like Pelago style interactions and training.

Never had or used bank so this will be my first time. Wish I didn't have to use my phone. It's old, full and rubbish.

I wonder if all the fake pokemon I got from Wondertrades will be able to transfer.

Nothing yet. I submitted a ticket but they’ve not got back to me. If I hear nothing by the end of next week I’ll have to take it further.

Just checked Home and the error is gone and my Pokémon have transferred over! Thank you comrades for the support during this difficult time. 🤗
