Launching on Nintendo Switch next month is SeaBed, a visual novel that was first released in Japan back in 2016.
The game is set to release on 19th March, though pre-purchase has already become available on the Switch eShop. A reveal trailer has also been released (see above), as well as this official description:
SeaBed is a critically acclaimed yuri-themed mystery visual novel told through the perspectives of three separate characters: Mizuno Sachiko, a designer plagued by hallucinations of her past lover; Narasaki Hibiki, Sachiko's friend and a psychiatrist researching the workings of human memories; and Takako, Sachiko's former lover who has been rapidly forgetting her past, including how or why the two women drifted apart despite being together since childhood.
All three live in different worlds, but seek the same goal. To separate truth from illusion. To make sense of their own lives.
This updated Nintendo Switch version will include two all-new bonus scenes "for the enjoyment of fans, both new and old". If you're interested in picking it up, a 10% pre-purchase discount is now live taking the standard £17.99 price down to £16.19.
Will you be taking advantage of that pre-launch discount? Tell us below.

The purest form of love
Probably won’t want to play this in public
I'm just glad to see more VNs getting an international release.
Well, that's nice and all... but it's no Guy Love.
Fine VN with a good story, some yuri elements and mystery
However a slow burn, so it takes it's time to tell the good story, I did like the fact it was a kinetic novel (kinetic = no choices, just one lengthy story)
Played it few months ago on the PC, worth buying for people that know what they are into it.
@Eddyson thankfully my job is to translate Yuri VN, so technically it's safe for my work =0p
Here’s hoping this one isn’t made specifically for the male gaze. Chances are it is but there are a few decent yaoi/yuri VNs that aren’t fetishised.
@Eddyson People kiss on daytime television.
Nice! Will pick it up if it also gets a physical release!
@Judgedean
Don't see why that would be a problem. As long as there is no rumble feuture or I can turn it off so I don't disturb people, I would have no problem playing it in public.
@Eddyson Its just two people kissing. Fully clothed even. Its not that nsfw.
Not pictured: the meaning of the word "yuri".
@Eddyson They're just kissing. Stop clutching your pearls.
@Shiryu Guy love is best love.
@Belatarr The guy’s being an idiot but there’s no need to be blatantly homophobic.
Huh, I don't see what's wrong with pointing out the fact, that when I go to a site when I'm at work it's not a everyday occurence to see people kissing.
To be clear, I really, REALLY don't mind it at all. Maybe I even like it, but that's neither here nor there. But to act like it's normal at work?
Maybe it's me. But I don't think so.
Anyway I can see your point of view 2
@nessisonett Sure the other guy is baiting but to state a fact is NOT homophobic.
@Zuljaras The guy said that yuri was the purest form of love. Saying that’s untrue because it doesn’t produce kids is homophobic in the sense that love isn’t somehow less pure because they can’t produce children. Strangely that’s never used as an argument when it’s a straight man shooting blanks or a straight woman who can’t conceive. Go figure.
@Belatarr explain what you do mean then, because by only removing that emoticon that whole comment has a different meaning (and yes I really wonder what you mean, even for me that comment has more than 1 meaning)
@Belatarr Try living as a LGBT+ person today. Pain and disillusionment is all life is.
@Belatarr Stop sealioning. It's not a good look, and you know exactly how your comment was homophobic.
@Belatarr Okay we got a huge misunderstanding! I was talking about the first comment about the pure love stuff.
@nessisonett Just start taking things less seriously.
@Belatarr there is no such thing as a agenda or ideologies, no matter the topic (that aside I get your comment now)
@Belatarr Ok you actually just said that the world panders to LGBT+ people. You live in a bubble and there is no point even attempting further communication.
Man, what the hell is going on in here? Pffff.... (shakes head)
@ThanosReXXX Hello! Enjoy the show
@ThanosReXXX welcome to the comment section, how may help you?
@Zuljaras I don't know if "enjoy" is the right word...
@Rayquaza2510 Hm, let me see: by making both parties/sides involved less "phobic", that would be a nice start.
@ThanosReXXX Hmm there will always be one spark that ignites the whole place and it may come from both sides. I do not think this is avoidable
Also the Article screen and the first comment are kind of baity
@Zuljaras The comment yes, the picture was fine, in my opinion.
@AlexSora89 I always thought that Yuri was the name of a Russian astronaut, erm... correction: cosmonaut.
... Anyway, sounds like a decent read. Maybe this will help me bide my time while waiting for Heart of the Woods to finally hit Switch.
Anything with decent representation is an instabuy for me. Here’s hoping the story is good and not just porn written for males.
Came for the bait.
Stayed for the first-world indignation.
Ok so it's porn for Switch?
@FaelBC @Ryu_Niiyama I don't think they allow actual porn on consoles except PC. Every VN on Switch that an eroge version, is the all age version. (As in, its the game, with the hentai removed.) So at "worst" you would get an ecchi game.
@tobibra Not what I'm referring to.
@tobibra (cough)witcher 3 with sex scenes(cough) wants a word with you.
at some point, maybe we can also get localized version of guy-on-guy? Like, lets offer as many options as possible
Games aren't made for kids only in mind. There are adults who play as well. So matured games should be made more by all means. One of each for different types of audience.
I'm here for the thumbnail.
I came here for the comments and was not disappointed.
@graysoncharles It’s not about making a ruckus, I will call out people who act like bigots, whether they’re trolling, uneducated or just plain prejudiced.
@nessisonett oh but the dad dating game is fine?
I'm not interested in either games but I like how people can have options. Cry me a river with your "male gaze" nonsense.
@Arkay The dad dating game is a p*sstake from the Game Grumps people. It’s also entirely made for the Tumblr gay fanfic audience so no, it’s not my thing at all.
lol that they deleted my comment
kind of gay bro
Yeah, this comment section is exactly what I thought it'd be.
Imagine know one thought it wasn't coming to Switch. If that was what alot where thinking they I am glad they aren't the Game Development localization or Switch Game Development as it clearly shows a bias and closed mindset to expand the gaming experiences.
@Eddyson What??? There are literally hundreds of romance movies on store shelves that have people kissing. There is not a single thing wrong with that thumbnail. If your workspace has a problem with tame stuff like that, they aren't worth working for anyway.
The thumbnail is pretty offensive.
To Astronomy. Those constellations are extremely inaccurate. Who created that, a flat-earther?
WOW these comments are interesting. It's just 2 girls kissing in the thumbnail. The hell is the problem
@Belatarr You're the best NintendoLife user
@smithyo wait what was the comment?
Wow, this comment section turned into one hell of a dumpster fire. Does anyone here at the very least know if the game will be good or not?
@tobibra it’s two anime children kissing in nightwear. That’s pretty deviant by western standards, and most people wouldn’t want such a picture to be seen on their personal devices.
I was browsing Nintendolife while out for breakfast with my family. My niece was sitting next to me. It would have been uncomfortable if she or anyone else saw that picture.
I’d expect a website like Nintendolife who moderates their users’ comments for certain language to at least censor themselves.
When I saw this article and the comment count. I knew I would stumble into nonsense conversations.
All I am gonna say is, if you don't like something, that is fine, just don't make a big deal about it and comment about it believing it is wrong. Whenever I dislike things, I just move on, because life NEEDS Variety. Reason why I accept the things I dislike as well.
So the only reason I make a big deal about something and go at it in social media places like this is usually because of what others think that pisses me off because they are making a big deal of something and thinks it is wrong, when their are others that like these things and believe it is fine.
Hope for whoever who reads this, know what I mean.
Wow, why I am I not surprised by this comment section. Sad.
"wOw. LoOk aT tHIs CoMmENt SeCTiOn!"
I find anime yuri to be so cute, there is something about watching two cute anime girls getting all lovey-dovey that I just find so gosh darn adorable for some reason, specially when they kiss! 😍
@Dakotastomp @Gamesurfer let’s stop
Neat premise, character designs are pretty generic though and not a lot really jumps out.
@LUIGITORNADO Children? Age isn't super obvious with anime usually, but I didn't assume they were children. Not sure how many kids are "plagued by hallucinations of [their] past lover[s]".
Were it a man and woman I can't imagine you would be this concerned about your niece glancing at your phone and seeing a thumbnail of them kissing. You might need to set the phone down so you're ready to cover her eyes, lest her parents share a peck.
@FTPinkRabbit yes. They look like children, and they were intended to look like children.
Being anime as they are, there is a sort of deviancy seeing two child looking girls in nightgowns on a bed kissing. The implication is that it’s porn/hentai. My guess, going off your avatar, is that you obviously see nothing wrong with it.
Keep suggesting it’s homophobic to have a problem with the thumbnail if you want. It just makes you look gross.
There’s a reason you’re not going to see this game advertised or mentioned on more mainstream websites.
This looks insanely boring lol
@LUIGITORNADO I would assume the reason is that it's a visual novel without a whole lot going for it, rather than a game with anime designs. This is hardly the first time this site has shared pictures of anime, nor the most explicit. Plenty worse than this gets pushed out and covered on Nintendolife year after year, albeit generally aimed towards a male, teenage audience. It's kinda telling that this is where you draw the line.
