I assume we are getting the HD remastered versions of 0,1 and 4. Well thats a turn up! I see no reason we shouldn't get the code veronica remaster too. If we could get that 2 remake they are doing to go along with them that would be perfect, but I do think if that happens it would end up being a cloud version which is a shame. No need for the black sheep of the family though, nemesis.
The comments sections for reviews on here is really getting tedious now. I personally tend to agree with the reviews in general on here for the most part, I might disagree by a point or so but thats about it, I can't remember a review that was way off base.
If a game gets an 8 or above on here that's usually enough for me to go out and buy a game without much other consideration if looks up my street.
7 or below I might have to do a bit more research, I really don't understand why people care about a point here or there or how many games get an 8 or above. It's boring and it ends up flooding the comments section rather than just talking about the game
The fact of the matter is that print media is on its way out, people just aren't buying magazines anymore. It's been like that for a long while now, I've had subscriptions to many magazines over the years and every last one of them has shut up shop. People just aren't going to wait a month for news anymore when they can get it instantly via the internet.
For a magazine to be successful now it needs to offer something over and above other media forms, have really unique content or have a reputation of quality writing that makes you want to buy that magazine.
I have a subscription to retro gamer at the minute and I think that's unique enough to carry on running for now, but I wouldn't be surprised to see that go in time.
I don't think there's a huge amount they can do really, without alienating the fan base.
Better screen quality (im not sure if upping the resolution would have any point, but potentially allowing the screen to display at docked resolution might be a possibility, with reworked internals)
Higher capacity battery
More internal storage
Perhaps a better docking solution that doesn't scrath the screen and a more robust case and kick stand.
Other than that I cant see much else happening, the shape has to stay largely the same to remain compatibility with the joy cons. The capabilities have to stay largely the same so as not to alienate customes ala, 'new nintendo 3ds'.
Is this definitely an aracde port? If so I'm really up for this. If they have moved on to model 1 titles, Virtua Fighter would be cool to as would Star Wars Arcade but they would need to sort out licensing issues which probably wouldn't be worth it financially. If they move on to model 2 then there are tons of games i'd love to see.
Did Nintendo hold the rights to these games and licence them to Hamster? Or did the rights belong to someone else?
Why aren't Nintendo just releasing the games themselves if they did hold the rights its unusual for them to let another company compete directly against them with their own software a lot of which could become available through the online service.
It doesnt particularly bother me, but id have said it should really be dependant on the length of your sub. For instance if you sign up for a month then it should force you to connect on expiration of your month, same with a year on so on.
Again its not an issue in this day and age, but if you go on a trip and wi-fi is scarce it could be an issue.
Interesting that its so heavily in favour of scores.
I don't really see the point anymore.
But then i'm not really a fan of a 10 point system anyway, I think a 5 point system works better and in theory you could just then replace the numbers with statements
All seems pretty logical to me. I'd imagine a lot of the ground work has been done for DS2 just by remastering DS1. I also don't see why 3 wouldn't follow after it, recent Switch ports show that it can pull off current gen games so I think all three will make it over time.
As others have said, themes would be nice but non-essential really. Folders could be useful for those who want them and I think the ability to increase the the number of tiles on screen would be good rather than just one row like the 3DS does. Being able to arrange the tiles as well could be quite useful, other than that I dont think theres anything else we really need from a UI.
If they were going to the trouble of doing this I dont know why they didnt swap the locations of the d-pad and the analogue stick, it would have made so much more sense. Given that the primary function of the controller is meant to be the dpad, give it the priority position on the controller.
I think its a pretty obvious nod to Waluigi being in there. They have been strategically placed there, I find it strange that so many of you don't think it is.
If he's going to the hassle of putting in King K.Rool and non nintendo fighters in such as Simon Belmont then he's absolutely going to put in Waluigi. He'll be the last announced fighter and it'll drum up interest in the game.
Aa others have said, it needs some sort of subspace/adventure mode for me to consider it a must buy. If it really is going to be the ultimate Smash Bros then it needs that mode to complete it imo
My biggest complaint with the 3ds version was the frame rate. If this is a solid 60fps im not really bothered about any other improvements, that'll do for me.
My only suggestion would be for staff to not feel the need to defend articles or the wording of articles in the comment section. It's a bit small time, if you want the website to have a professional feel then just leave it be unless it absolutely needs addressing. Animal Crossing article case in point.
Its strange that they haven't featured more titles really.
We know of a couple more that are in development that I expected to see something about:
Bayonetta 3 No More Heroes Okami Yoshi Metroid
There are the rumoured ones too like Starfox Racing. Of course Nintendo are under no obligation to, but their E3 presentation just felt like Super Smash Bros Direct rather than E3 direct. That's fine but they probably should have tempered expectations beforehand.
It does suggest that they have a lot of games going on behind the scenes though which is exiting.
I think its better in the long run to have a custom engine anyway. Isn't it better to have an engine that is specifically suited to a console rather than forcing a one fits all engine onto a system it probably isnt suited to.
Waverace, 1080, F-Zero are the only ones we've really been waiting for since the GameCube generation. Way passed overdue for sequels or remakes of all of them.
I don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility that we see a dedicated 'home console' version of the switch that removes the portability aspect.
Removing the screen, dock and both controllers and instead repackaging the console so that it resembles something like the Nvidia shield with a pro controller included, would probably see Nintendo being able to knock a good £100 off the price tag and target those gamers who aren't interested in the portable aspect.
Equally, but probably a lot less likely maybe we could see a more dedicated portable version of the switch for those not interested in gaming on their televisions.
Don't see the issue with this really. It's Nintendo's console and they bundle it with a dock and power supply for a reason.
If third parties are selling docks and power supplies that cause the console to not work then that's their fault and the fault of those people buying them unfortunately. If these companies haven't completed the adequate research to ensure their products are fit for purpose then they should be forced to pay up to repair any consoles that have been affected.
As with most games made by third parties they will eventually make their way to other consoles. I could see a shenmue trilogy becoming a thing at some point in the future.
I think I'd rather just wait for switch 2 to be honest, rather than a hardware revision I'd rather just have a direct sequel, but that should be years away yet.
That tag line is potentially misleading, I almost skipped passed reading this review because of it to be honest. Maybe 'Don't dodge this' would make for a better line
I think the future of third part support on Switch lies on studios like Panic button. Devs will only be prepared to much in house resources into porting to switch but if they know they can get an outside studio to do the job well for a fee then I think we are going to see a lot more of this. Hopefully a few other studios can step up with porting duties because if want more from the likes of EA, Activision/Blizzard, ID, Bethesda I think this the most likely way we get that.
