I think the obvious move for them at this moment is a Switch port of XCX. It likely wouldn't take too long, they could use pretty much the exact same team. If you look at their release history, they tend to put something out every 1-2 years whether its a new game, expansion or remake.
For the time being I think the potential for XC and XC2 has been maxed out, both are on switch with expansions, so I think the next logical step is XCX and an expansion, to be released in early 2022.
XC released in 2010
XCX released in 2015
XC2 released in 2017
XC2:Torna released in 2018
XCDE released in 2020
I think you will already have another team working on either XCX2 or XC3 but that probably won't hit for another few years either.
I find it amusing people getting annoyed by 'Sega's Big Announcement'. They never touted it as an announcement at all, it was hype stirred up online from a reporter in a Japanese gaming magazine.
I actually think it is pretty big news, but only really if you are currently living in Japan. Who knows, maybe it takes off and they spread it around the world, we'll just have to wait and see.
Really surprised to see it go to number 1 in this country, very pleasing to see though, enjoying it immensely and the criticisms over resolution as always have been greatly exaggerated.
@StevenH the framerate is stable, its a stable 30fps. There are the odd drops but nothing drastic and I would imagine that the odd drops could be patched going by what I've seen. 60fps would probably be nice but I wouldn't exactly say it was necessary for a game like this and it also may have been quite difficult to implement if the original was only ever designed for 30fps gameplay which I would suggest it likely was. Twilight Princess HD still only ran at 30fps on Wii U to offer a comparison. I think there is a reason we haven't seen a lot of wii re-releases/masters and its likely that the porting process just isn't that easy.
Lets not forget as well the games you mention later on were all developed with either the Wii U or Switch in mind and are all fairly arcade like in experience, Donkey Kong is also 2D so won't require the same level of processing power as a 3D 'openworld' rpg.
As for the resolution and draw distance, perhaps they could have been improved with a larger team who knows? They have stated it was a fairly team doing the job and they likely based this on sales of XC2 which were decent but nothing earth shattering.
I think what we are getting is an acceptable port on limited resources which will potentially be updated over time, adding animations back into the trees would be at the top of my list.
I agree with the main ones, Mario 3D World and Pikmin 3 I think are near certainties.
I also think the two Zelda remasters are probably up there as well but perhaps not for a few years yet, more towards the end of the Switches lifespan. I think Skyward Sword will be the next Zelds game to come along.
I think there is a higher possibility of Xenoblade X coming than you guys do, particularly on the back of both Xenoblade 1 and 2 being on Switch now, it only makes sense if there is a market for the series.
I also think Fatal Frame will make a left field appearance.
@the_beaver I don't think its as bad as you are making out. I'll wait to actually play it in both forms before making up my final opinion but the video footage doesn't seem that bad at all. Of course people see resolution sub 720 and all of a sudden make a decision about a game (Not saying you have/are). When you consider the size of the map in this game its actually an amazing achievement.
I have a strange relationship with Xenoblade. It's easily in my top 5 of all time yet I never completed it. I had the original on wii and played the hell out of it, must have had about 40-50hours and then for various reasons I could never get around to carrying it on. By the time I got round to having enough time to carry on, I'd really forgotten a lot of the story so wanted to restart but couldn't find the energy to.
I bought the 3ds version but again never found the right time to get started on it again.
I've now got the collectors edition of this release on its way to me and I'm so looking forward to getting started on it again. Even if it takes me till this time next year I'm going to finish this one
Could be a new console but not developed by Sega per say, however Sega might have decided to go into partnership with another company to bring their back catalogue to it and future new releases?
Difficult because you are actually looking at 2 completely different themes on the 'same game'. However I'm going to look at it purely as Contra so JPN for me.
Tricky this week as I'm not a fan of any of them really, the japan art wins out for being an unusual take on a box art. You could call it it lazy but it just seems better than the other two which are basically the same.
I have the Wii U version and fully intended to get the Switch version as I was expecting it to be an obvious upgrade but it really appears to be a downgrade at present.
No obvious graphical improvements to speak of, the lack of a second screen clutters up the HUD and takes away a control method when playing docked and more concerning it has a 10-12fps drop compared to Wii U.
The only real benefit is the upgrade to 1080p, which I'm going to suggest isn't that noticeable from what I've seen. Disappointing.
If they patch up the frame rate drops I might consider it, but currently that's unusually poor from Platinum
Im not sure I see the issue, being from UK, I toyed with the LRG order but then in the end I simply refuse to pay that much in delivery costs for what is essentially a american import.
So I was banking on the game getting a separate euro release which it has and just like many other games from the LRG catalogue have. Lets be honest in the history of videogaming different regions have always had different releases, so why should this be any different?
Perhaps they (Dotemu) could have announced this difference of regions beforehand, but my guess is that LRG didn't want them to and the issue here is really that LRG don't let customers cancel orders due to their business model isn't it?
I was the same with Panzer Dragoon remake, but that doesn't appear to have a euro physical release planned for now, so its just tough, win some lose some.
Downloaded and absolutely love it. The only way I think they could have made it better would have been a button for an on the fly graphic change to 16 bit just like with Wonder Boy. The difficulty would obviously be that this is a brand new and not just a remake, perhaps an option may come in the future?
I'm really looking forward to seeing what these guys do next. I could imagine them doin SOR5 at some point but Golden axe would be top of my list for now, I could also see them going for Shinobi or Alexx Kidd.
Entirely reasonable, I can't imagine anyone having a problem with this. Perhaps some publishers may to choose to go their own route and reveal games themselves but realistically what's the harm in waiting a few months, I'm sure Nintendo won't be the only company experience upheaval in development teams given what's going on.
There's plenty already announced that's due in the next few months anyway.
I think F Zero will happen eventually, they need the right studio for it though and I don't know if they have the correct in house people for the job. Shin'en might be the best bet for a task like that as they are practically a sole Nintendo developer anyway.
Yeah tend to agree with these comments, could have put a different title on this not eveyone will have gotten the chance to buy and play yet. Bit of a poor show.
Skies of Arcadia Alex the Kidd Golden Axe Daytona Usa Crazy Taxi Outrun Phantasy Star 5 (not PSO) After Burner Echo the Dolphin Fighting Vipers House of the Dead Virtua Cop Nights Shining Force (a proper one) Virtual On
It amazes me that they don't make use of these IPs even they just licence them out to eager devs.
Ridiculous, if mass gatherings of any type such as this are allowed that soon I'll be astonished. Aside from the fact that it could well still be getting used as a hospital!
It's a little bit of guess work but Switch is probably at around 55 million sales now almost exactly 3 years from launch. Wii in its first 3 years sold in the region of 65 million, Wii also benefitted from a Christmas launch which will have spiked its sales a touch.
I think the Switch will beat Wii in the long run, I think it's got more longevity as a games console and it isn't just a gimmick which Wii really was.
I also think we are yet to see the best of Switch, it still feels like a console in its infancy to me and if we are looking at a 7 year cycle for it, it isn't even half way through its life yet.
Yeah I agree, I tend to think Sony would have invested heavily in Nintendo and eventually would have started making all the decisions for them and Nintendo would cease to exist in their current form. Similar to Sega and Sammy although Sega had obviously already bowed out of console production by the time of their merger but I don't think the merger helped them on the games production front.
Not sure how anyone could vote for anything but the European one, its clean, simple, doesn't have huge black borders and the positioning of Sonic on the cover makes sense.
Given that VJ and W101 were both all released on Nintendo systems I would hope Switch is guaranteed at this point. Playstation obviously makes sense given the history with Viewtiful Joe and now with Wonderful 101 on its way as well. I'm not sure how well the game would do on XBox though.
@nessisonett unlikely, if we are still working on the presumption that the most popular games will be the most voted on then they would still achieve the higher numbers

@Bon_Kurei I'm still not sure I understand the logic in that marketing decision, seems like a terrible idea.

@Deltath means nothing, I'd wager Amazon don't differentiate between games and other merchandise in their placeholder pages
Re: Four Unannounced Nintendo Games Potentially Teased By New Amazon Listings
@JoeM103 its just a placeholder picture, it could be anything really, it could be new games or it could be a new amiibo series who knows.

Skies of Arcadia
Alex the Kidd

Daytona Usa

Phantasy Star 5 (not PSO)
After Burner
Echo the Dolphin
Fighting Vipers
House of the Dead
Virtua Cop
