Re: Poll: How Often Do You Trade-In Your Switch Games?

MonkeyNinja506

The only trade in I remember making was my DS Lite which was done to help me afford a DSi when those were brand new. It was a trade that I deeply regretted just a few days after getting the DSi.
As for buying preowned games, I don't see them as worth it if they're only a few bucks cheaper than a new copy. But if there's a really good deal I am perfectly content to pick up a used game. Only in-store though. I've been burned by used games purchased online through GameStop and now I try to avoid even looking at their website.

Re: Koei Tecmo Releases Fate/Samurai Remnant Demo On Switch Ahead Of "DLC Vol. 1" Launch

MonkeyNinja506

Recently picked the game up on PlayStation. Been having a blast with it despite musou games not usually being my cup of tea.
@LikelySatan - I would still recommend giving the demo a shot if you find the game intriguing. I think the pacing is handled really well as battles tend to be a lot smaller scale and don't last nearly as long as other musou I've tried. I can't speak to how it runs on Switch, but at least the demo will let you try it out for free.

Re: Talking Point: What Will The 'Switch 2' Actually Be Called?

MonkeyNinja506

I think it will be the Nintendo Clapper. Y'know, like the "Clap on. Clap off" light switches. Instead of the little sound effect that has represented the Switch, it will utilize a little double-clap sound effect to accompany the logo in promotional materials.
Oh, and if it wasn't obvious, the Nintendo Clapper can be turned on by clapping. I would say it could be turned off by clapping too, but that would be a nightmare. Maybe it clap off if you're on the home screen and it has been idle for more than a minute or something. Idk why I am putting so much thought into this...

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Batman: Vengeance (GBA)

MonkeyNinja506

I like the colors and the stormy background of the EU version, but the posing of Batman on the wire and the lighting on his model, specifically his head/face really bring it down for me.
The NA art isn't amazing or anything, but it doesn't do anything wrong to my eye, and I do appreciate that Batman slightly overlaps with the GBA banner on the side.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: New Super Mario Bros.

MonkeyNinja506

Big Mario bullying the goombas is a nice touch for the NA in my opinion. I do like the EU/JP, Mario & Luigi synced up like they are is fun, but the spacing makes it feel a little weird to me, mostly because of how Luigi's foot looks squarely planted on Mario's back

Re: Review: Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope: The Last Spark Hunter - Fun But Safe DLC Lacks Spark

MonkeyNinja506

Been meaning to finish Sparks of Hope. I guess it'll have to wait until the Rayman DLC comes out though. Between Midnight Suns and 2 Fire Emblem games (Engage and now GBA on NSO) my tactics/strategy itch is already being scratched pretty well.
I was really hoping Sparks of Hope would have grabbed me like the first game did. At a glance I thought the changes to combat would be brilliant and totally game changing, but the openness and freedom seems to have hurt the focus and balancing, which I am now realizing was so critical to Kingdom Battle's staying power for me.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of Today's Nintendo Direct?

MonkeyNinja506

I think the thing I am most excited about has got to be Super Mario RPG. Been meaning to play that one for a long time now, and the new coat of paint looks really good on it!
I've never really been a huge fan of 2D Mario games, but Wonder did grab my attention. The animation looks so much more charming than the New Super series, and I want a plushie of Elephant Mario yesterday.
Nice to see Peach is getting her own game! Looking forward to seeing what that turns out like!
Also, I don't think I'll be getting the Switch version, but Gloomhaven getting a release date is very welcome news, and that Star Ocean remake looks awesome!

Re: Marvel's Midnight Suns On Switch "No Longer Planned"

MonkeyNinja506

@Spider-Kev The game doesn't have the best writing, with many people finding it to be outright bad in some cases, but the combat is genuinely excellent, and just about every review of the game will tell you so.
There are also plenty of us out here who enjoy card based combat. If you don't think that card based battles can be fun (I honestly get it, I used to think so too), I would recommend checking out Slay the Spire or SteamWorld Quest.

Re: Marvel's Midnight Suns On Switch "No Longer Planned"

MonkeyNinja506

Well, that's a shame. I didn't have much faith the game would run very well on Switch without some major concessions, but still, it would have been cool if they could have made it work, and the lack of a Switch port means less people will have the opportunity to try it out. The game is absolutely worth picking up if you have another console for it though. The battle system is genuinely one of my favorites in recent memory!

Re: Random: Sakurai's Latest Video Implores Publishers Not To Mislead Players

MonkeyNinja506

@old-dad PS5 box says 8K because the console technically supports the output, or at least, it will at some point in the future. My understanding is that Sony has yet to enable true 8K output on the OS side of things since 8K monitors/tvs are far from common and only a handful of titles currently support anything above 4K, but the hardware does have the capability

Re: Poll: Which Is The Best Ganondorf?

MonkeyNinja506

I personally am a fan of the new TotK design. At least in the artwork. I feel like I can't fully judge him until I have bested him in combat.
Anyway, to me the new design reads as less overtly evil in appearance, but he's still clearly a powerhouse and will wipe the floor with his enemies when push comes to shove. Like, he less outwardly hateful and angry, more patient, but ready to unleash either a flurry of blows, or maybe a single strike when and where it will be most effective. He looks more calculating, less fueled by emotion.

Re: Video: Pokémon Stadium Side-By-Side Graphics Comparison (Switch & N64)

MonkeyNinja506

Can't wait to play this again. I have very fond memories playing it in my early childhood. Never had the chance to import Pokemon from any mainline games, so the default roster and all of its odd move sets will undoubtedly be a huge nostalgia trip for me this weekend.
To this day whenever I play an rpg with turn-based battles and there's a moment of downtime as the game lists off status effects or something, there's a pretty good chance that I'm saying to myself, "Sparks are flying in this heated battle!"
