Re: Masahiro Sakurai On The Smash Bros. Character Decision Process And Piranha Plant's Surprise Inclusion

Mogster

'As huge fans of Piranha Plant at Nintendo Life HQ, we couldn't be happier to see it included in the roster and agree that straying from the usual "hero/heroine" stars is wonderfully refreshing.'

Does the author of this article speak for the whole NL team? I find it hard to believe everyone in any group of people have the EXACT same attitude/thoughts regarding something. This seems very much like trying to push a narrative.

Re: Pokémon: Let's Go Sells 3 Million Copies In First Week, Becomes Fastest-Selling Game On Switch

Mogster

@johnvboy 'It's all personal opinions fella,if you do not like the new Pokemon games then fair enough, but a lot of people are clearly enjoying these games.'

Which is precisely why I said it's fine to like or dislike the game, and why it is truly asinine for this writer to try and dismiss legitimate criticism.

'And as for your numbers statement,I am pretty sure if these titles had bombed you and others would be seeing it as a vindication of your issues with these games since they were announced, but now they are selling well you guys always fall back on the old "just because it sells well does not mean it's any good" line'

Excuse me? Don't try and pretend you know me. I was planning on picking the game up closer to Christmas. I don't care how well it sells, but I do care about the brand of 'us vs them' journalism which the final paragraph of this article employs. As I said, it's disgusting, dismissive, and very Trump-esque in tone.

Re: Pokémon: Let's Go Sells 3 Million Copies In First Week, Becomes Fastest-Selling Game On Switch

'As you'll no doubt be aware by now, the games have caused an awful lot of division among players and fans; the games have reviewed very nicely indeed among critics, and we're starting to see a much more positive outlook from players on social media now that the games are firmly in their hands, but the odd few are still causing trouble and attempting to smear the game's very existence. Sales figures speak louder than angry internet words, however, and things are definitely looking good for the new titles.'

This is a VERY troubling statement on a number of levels. Trying to paint over legitimate criticism of the game because 'look at these numbers, the best numbers!' is VERY Trump-esque language and should be shunned at all levels. And saying some are 'causing trouble?' I guess these troublemakers are enemies of the people?!

People are allowed to like or dislike the game. This hive-mind 'EVERYONE MUST LIKE EVERYTHING' approach is disgusting and I'm tbh I honestly can't believe Nintendo Life would allow this. I used to think NL was quality gaming journalism but this REEKS of the same type of 'them vs us' journalism that places like BuzzFeed thrive on.

Sort it out because this is pathetic.

EDIT: Can we can an official comment from @damo on this please because the more I think about this the more troubling and insulting the tone of that paragraph is.

Re: Nintendo Reiterates It Has "Absolutely No Plans" To Offer First-Party Games As Cross-Platform Titles

Mogster

It would feel wrong to have Nintendo games on other platforms. That said, I can understand the appeal from the investor side of things. Releasing MK8 on PS4/XBO would easily ship another 10 million copies.

Tbh I think it would be more likely for Nintendo to create their own subscription/cloud service that would be playable on other consoles but would also require you to purchase the game.

Of course, the second they did that Nintendo's own hardware sales would tank because let's face it, without the pull of Nintendo's software the consoles aren't that great.

Re: Dragon Ball FighterZ Exceeds 3.5 Million In Worldwide Shipments And Digital Sales

Mogster

Funny, I spent all year telling myself £40 was too much to spend on a Dragonball Z fighting game and yet the second it dropped on Switch I spent £50 on the eShop version like it was nothing!

@Heavyarms55 maybe people have already played Ultimate at events etc. and besides, it isn't like the Smash formula has changed much in the past 20 years. If you didn't like Smash the first four times, it's unlikely Ultimate is going to change anyones mind.

Re: Rumour: Netflix's Castlevania Executive Producer Is Apparently "Working" On A Legend Of Zelda Series

Mogster

For the love of god can someone PLEASE explain to me why the crappy Netflix Castlevania series seems to receive near universal praise??

All I can see is an extremely average and dull show with bland characters and VERY sub-par animation. Honestly the animation is so bad that I nearly turned off after the first ten seconds and it doesn't improve. Someone please tell me why this show is considered good??

If this guy goes anywhere near Zelda with the same guttertrash standards then we're in for a very rough time indeed.

Re: Nintendo's UK Chart Presence Takes A Beating This Week As Multi-Platform Stars Lead The Charge

Mogster

@saintayu never have I seen a more obnoxious, arrogant and elitist comment. You are the personification of everything that is wrong with the Nintendo fanbase, and the reason we all get labelled as fanboys.

Funnily enough, I almost guarentee that you would not be making such stupid comments if the Switch was actually capable of running games as visually intensive as RDR2.

Re: Report Finds Elementary School Students In Japan Use 3DS As Their Main Music Player

Mogster

For about two years I used the OG 3DS has a music player. Thinking back on that really makes me wish the Switch had a ton more features. Pretty pathetic really, for a £280 'premium' device. Shame on Nintendo and shame on anyone who defends them for this.

@Dalarrun WOW your comment is just mind blowing. You have zero idea how the average consumer thinks do you? The Switch is, by all virtue, a tablet. Whether you agree with that or not is irrelevant. When the consumer looks at it, they see a tablet with two controls stuck on the side. I actually had to tell my mother-in-law not to get one because she thought it would at least have basic functionality, which it doesn't. Lost sale for Nintendo; if you actually liked the company and wanted them to succeed you'd stop defending them for crap like this as it only hurts their bottom line.

Re: Talking Point: Do We Still Need Review Scores?

Mogster

Please please PLEASE keep review scores. The whole argument against them is busted; review scores provide a much wider scale than simple words do.

Honestly if there is a game I'm on the fence about or am just partially considering, there is no way I'm going to read a whole review about the game. And a 'recommended' doesn't tell me enough information, but a 8/10 would tell me everything I need to know about whether a game is worth my time and money.

Re: Nintendo Is Happy That Sony And Microsoft Pay Less Attention To Younger Audiences

Mogster

Sigh Reggie you just don't get it. Those with an affinity for those franchises, we are all getting old now. You have lost the ability to resonate and keep with current younger audiences I'm afraid.

Anecdotal story; between the ages of 4-10 my nephew LOVED Nintendo and wouldn't stop talking about Mario and Zelda and Pokemon to me to the extent at which it got annoying. Now though he's into Xbox. You lost that customer.

Reasons for this? Slow to get multi-plats and WAY behind the curve with online. Super popular games are slow to get on your system (Fortnite etc) and you miss the initial trend. Also pricing; when a parent sees a PS4/X1 with two games on the shelf for £200-£250 that looks WAY more attractive than £280 Switch with zero games.

Get with the times Nintendo.
