Prior to the release of Dragon Ball FighterZ on Nintendo Switch, Bandai Namco revealed pre-orders would come with a bonus code to download Dragon Ball Z: Super Butoden from the eShop.
Bamco followed this up by confirming the 1993 Super Nintendo game would remain a pre-order exclusive. In a surprise move, Bandai Namco Brazil is now offering the retro release for free to anyone who signs up to its local newsletter. Here's the official message via the Bandai Namco Brazil Facebook page:
Help Goku collect 10,000 new entries in our newsletter at https: //www.bandainamcoent.com/en # signup , and it will distribute DRAGON BALL SUPER BUTODEN codes for Nintendo Switch (Japanese audio) for all registered users! Share with your friends and sign up!
It's as simple as inputting your email into the official website to receive the newsletter. Users outside of Brazil also appear to be able to sign up. If Bandai Namco reaches its 10,000 subscriber goal and sends out codes, the only catch is that you'll a North American Nintendo account to redeem the game.
Thanks to Herlon Souza for the tip.

Neat! Not for me, but neat nonetheless!
Yeah... That game wasn't great. It was extremely sluggish and had poor controls.

I signed up! Thanks Nintendo life!
The game was garbage, not sure why Bamco kept treating it like it's something special.
No US/NA promo, not interested, lame.
Seems like a good deal!
Color me intrigued.
The Super Butoden series isn't the best representation of DBZ on the SNES. That game would be Hyper Dimension, and I hope it gets this kind of treatment soon.
Nah, nobody's missing out on anything. The only reason I'd recommend this to someone is to show them why they're better off playing FighterZ.
Its not free enough
This is probably the first time in my life that been Brazilian is actually good for something lol. Hurray!
The correct link on their translated post is this https://www.bandainamcoent.com/pt-br/#signup
and I think that you can use the code in american accounts, because Brazil doesn’t have a fully eshop, we can only redeem codes. We aways buy digital games at Nintendo Brazilian website and use the code on american account to get the gold coins.
I try to register but there is no message confirming I did it well :S
Definitely it doesn't seem to work. I've tied several times, no confirmation message and no confirmation e-mail.
Crappy game for my e-mail address? Nice try Bamco!
Has anyone done it and did it work? Please, enlighten me, because I don't seem to know how. I enter my e-mail and click "cadastrar-se", but nothing happens after that.
It is done
When's the Fighter Z review gonna be out?
@aznable You mean this doesn't work anymore? If it's what you mean, it's been like this since the moment they posted the news, sadly.
@Moroboshi876
I meant that i signed up. you have to look for a link in their text that says the Portuguese equivalent of "click here". look for the Spanish cognate word "aqui" for"here" and you'll find it.
I got a code for this with my Fighterz preorder. The game is unfortunately unapologetically impossible to navigate due to lack of translation. Mostly understandable that they would do this, but they even left the emulator menu untranslated. Any chance of a translation guide, Nintendo Life, to make the menus easier to navigate?
@aznable I know, and I did it, but after clicking "cadastrarse agora" nothing happens, I don't get confirmation message nor receive any e-mail. Well, the button changes its color and gets unclickable, but nothing else happens. I've just tried it again.
EDIT: I tried with Chrome and now it works. I was using Firefox before. I hope the code doesn't take long to come!
Free is free, I gave em my email
As we say over there in Brazil, if it's free mate, even a jab in your forehead will do.
I think I've played it before. It's fun.
@UmbrageHill they said that everyone who subscribed until 11am pst today, will receive the code soon.
@UmbrageHill actually, it’s portuguese. And they didn’t said when the code will be sent out. They just said “soon”.
@herlon thanks
Do people really think all South America speaks Spanish. Lol. It's clearly Portuguese. Brazil is huge and is the only Portuguese-speaking country there. Not so hard to learn!
I registered yesterday and still haven't received anything. Fingers crossed.
I knew it was Portuguese but typed Spanish and translate wasn’t working the first time I tried to read their post, my bad. I haven’t received anything either, but I figure 10,000 download codes takes a lot of time to send out
Never received the code. Has anyone yet?
@UmbrageHill I didn't say it specifically for you. I just saw many people mixed those languages up.
@moroboshi876 it’s all good. I looked through the Facebook thread from the contest and they said there’s a lot of counting to do and they are prioritizing Latin America entries first. I think it’s gonna be awhile.
@UmbrageHill Thanks for the info. I hope they don't rule out people from Europe...
They emailed me a code!
@Moroboshi876 as @panthro just mentioned, I got my code today too.
Mine was in my spam folder so I’d check there if you haven’t gotten it yet, @ everyone.
Also, oddly, it doesn’t show up on my mind Play Activity.
I received it too @UmbrageHill.
It doesn't show up in the activity log? Why? Is it well emulated at least?
@Moroboshi876 it has a very simple ugly grey border with grey dragon balls and it has scan lines, and it seems well emulated but also I’m not sure it’s the greatest game to begin with but it’s fun and I love SNES games and it was free so totally worth it!
@UmbrageHill I have fond memories of this game. Back when I was 11 a friend of mine had several consoles including a SNES, and I don't know how he had import games with that converter and we played Super Butouden a lot. Some time later it was released in PAL version, but I got acquainted with this game in Japanese.
Of course it's a rudimentary Dragon Ball game, but back then it was the best we had ever seen.
@Moroboshi876 after a few plays and figuring out the controls I definitely think it’s really fun but I’m not very good at it!
How can I redeem the code, I’ve changed my region to Brazil but when entering the code I get “the product associated with that code is not currently available”
I got the code but it says not recognised when I try to redeem? I’m in the UK of that makes a difference.
I got the code and it worked fine for me. I have a US account.
I get the code could not be recognised error.
@SwidnesJoe make a US account
Looking back on this, I am kinda sad that they never sent me my code even though I did register... I feel cheated... 🙁
