Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch To Start At £199.99 In United Kingdom, $329.99 In Canada

Mogster

The UK is a very hard market for Nintendo, but I think that with a £199 price point they could make some headway. It just depends on clear marketing, and the £199 SKU not being a complete waste of money like the basic Wii U bundle was.

I also think the £199 console should bundle in/pre-load a game, even if it is quite a basic one. The Wii Sports pack-in did a huge deal for the original Wii, and it's always confused me as to why Nintendo Land wasn't a standard pack-in with EVERY Wii U.

Re: Rumour: Bayonetta And Cloud amiibo Delayed Until Release Of Super Smash Bros. On Switch

Mogster

@SLIGEACH_EIRE How so?

Compare 3DS sales to Wii U sales. There are still tens of millions of Nintendo fans (perhaps, in hindsight, the more sensible ones) who didn't purchase a Wii U. With the Switch not being backwards compatible, and with millions of people not having the chance to exprience Wii U games, porting games over makes perfect sense and is a way to welcome in the fans who were put off by the Wii U's gimmick and high price point.

Re: Junichi Masuda Didn't Expect Pokémon GO to Be a Big Deal

Mogster

'We really wanted to kind of distill the experience of catching Pokemon, make it a simple experience, you can go outdoors specifically, walk around, find Pokemon, and catch them'

Well if that was your intention you failed miserably. Many people in rural areas still have a hard time finding Pokemon.

I honestly don't understand how they didn't anticipate the popularity of the app. Do they really think so little of their own IP? They could have capitilised off the success with more merch ready to go for the launch.

Re: Random: GAME 'Opens' Nintendo Switch Pre-Orders, Though Using Paypal is a Bad Idea

Mogster

That's such an obnoxious thing to do. They could easily set it as £400, or £500 tops. Better yet just don't open preorders until Nintendo have actually priced the damn thing and you know how many units you're getting.

GAME just sucks for doing this, no reason to stick a £999.99 price tag at all. Please no one pre-order until Nintendo have announced the price. There is no reason too.

Re: Nintendo Share Value Drops 6.5% Following Switch Reveal

Mogster

If Nintendo had been more forthcoming with actual information regarding the system (potential games, price etc.) I'm sure the share price wouldn't have dropped so deeply. I don't think keeping their cards so close to their chest is really going to pan out tbh.

Re: Guide: Everything We Now Know About the Nintendo Switch

Mogster

I really hope that thing is a touch screen or they've shot themselves in the foot. The lack of it in this video, however, doesn't shock me as it's just a concept preview. I think touchscreens are so commonplace these days that Nintendo didn't even think it was worth highlighting.

Re: Square Enix Teases Bravely Default News As Original Game Turns Four

Mogster

@ricklongo while the Second game definitely lost some of it's charm and the dialogue got quite repetitive (I skipped most of it from half-way through), I quite like that the map is the same. It's not often you get direct sequels that are literally in the same world, with the same characters. It's nice seeing a continuation of what happened after the events of the first game.

Plus the ending...damn that blew my mind.

Re: Metroid Prime: Federation Force Power Bombs in Japan

Mogster

I'm sad for Next Level for getting saddled with such a duff game. This game was a bad idea from conception. I'm also sad for Metroid, as it means we probably won't be getting anymore games in the series.

This games deserves all the hatred it gets. How could Nintendo be so out-of-touch with what it's fans want? And no, I haven't played this and don't intend too. I mainly play on my commute to work and thus not tethered to an internet connection; this game has no value to me.

Re: Retro-Bit's Next System Aims To Challenge The NES Classic Edition Mini Console

Mogster

I've been looking into purchasing a retro console recently, and while I was attracted by the Mega Drive thing the iffy sound/input and lack of HDMI really put me off.

And this thing lacks the cartridge slot, which is somewhat of a must for me. At the moment, I think the Retron 5 is still the best option, if only the controller didn't look so rubbish!

Re: Video: Here's What Pokémon GO Looks Like in the Real World

Mogster

@Einherjar try actually reading my comment rather than twisting it just so you can write a snarky know-it-all response.

No where did I say better visuals would use up data. Processing more detailed visuals would use up more battery, which is toxic to a game that is supposed to be played on the go.

A little reading comprehension goes a long way.

Re: Video: Here's What Pokémon GO Looks Like in the Real World

Mogster

@Kirk le sigh if you actually understood the complaints you're making, you would realise that they aren't valid complaints. There is a reason for all of them, and the reason is it's a mobile game designed to be used in the real world NOT tethered to a phone charger or wifi connection.

The complaints are only valid if taken completely out of context.

Re: Video: Here's What Pokémon GO Looks Like in the Real World

Mogster

@Kirk I'm sorry, but you really don't understand. If you had actually played the game you would see that a lot of your complaints don't hold water at all.

First off, this isn't a 'game' in the traditional sense. If you were expecting a full fledged Pokemon game, well, I don't know where you got that from as Go has never ever been advertised as such.

This is an app you use throughout your usual day. If you're walking down the high street, or to the train station or whatever, it's gonna be a pain if you have to stop and battle everytime you come across a Pokemon. It would be a huge inconvenience and incredibly annoying. I do a two mile walk on my lunch break; during which yesterday I encountered several Pokemon. Flicking a few Pokeballs is no interruption; stopping to battle them would be. If you want to battle wild Pokemon, go play one of the numerous Pokemon games that already exist.

You talk about it looking plain. Well, this shows that the developers actually have done some research on how mobile phones are used in real life. Again, this isn't a game on a dedicated handheld system. Highly detailed graphics would

a) Drain battery (much quicker than it already does)
b) Take up limited storage capacity with unecessary bloat
c) Use more data
d) Take longer to load

Niantic clearly have experience of developing mobile games and know how those devices work and what people want from mobile games. Tip; fancy graphics aren't one of them. For the reasons listed above, I am glad Pokemon Go looks the way it does.

I can't be bothered to type anymore, but please, before you and others slag off a game please actually try to understand it first. It's not difficult.

Re: Guide: Here's How To Get Pokémon GO On iPhone And Android

Mogster

@Alundra-1998 eh...why? You're wasting money by not using that last 500mb, most phones/networks cut data access when the limit is reached anyway, there's no reason to give the network provider that 500mb you're already paying for!

Oh, and I've used about 27mb in the hour or so I've used Pokemon Go today.

Re: Talking Point: Considering the Possibility of the Nintendo NX Having Virtual Reality Features

Mogster

I think it's dumb to miss the Christmas sales period just for VR. They should have released November with the promise of VR further down the line.

I tried the Steam VR thing at the PC World on Tottenham Court Road and was actually very impressed by it, but I don't really feel it will have a lasting impact on the marketplace. It's a gimmick nothing more, certainly not worth missing Christmas for.
