Re: Warframe Devs On Switch 2 Version: "Thanks To Our Friends At Nintendo, We Are On It"

Misima

I am so tired of action RPGs. There's some that are absolutely great, but mostly they just feel like they are very hard and not relaxing. It is great when you want a challenge, but that's a sometimes thing and yet there's so many action RPGs. Can we get some more RPGs that are relaxing?

Earthbound could be played with one hand and that was freaking amazing. I want more of that.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Direct September Predictions - What Do You Hope To See?

Misima

This is not what I hope to see, but I think they are going to tease Odyssey 2 and show a SMB remake. Basically making the entire original game look like Wonder but add flourishes that make the original game in line with movie Mario. But the game will allow a one button return to the original and this is their 40th celebration, leaving the 50th open for the massive collections as well as remakes of every single game that has been made in the 10 years past.

The direct will also mostly be Prime and a few more teasers. I suspect a few surprises for Christmas that won't shake the world as well. This will be about 40% Metroid 40% Mario give or take 5% each. The rest will be Christmas stuff.

@Alex79uk Does the S come with a screen and battery? Those aren't free.

People seem to think dollar equals quality. Dollars spent go towards hardware that are not 1:1. The power is not there. The Switch 2 has a lot of added expense for a 120hz screen that the other systems offload on you to purchase. The switch 2 is really like buying a system and a TV at the same time. So unless you want to spend 1000 dollars there are compromises.

That's my point. Stop complaining about the compromise. It's an upfront aspect. I feel like this is a person who wants to live in the mountains with no neighbors and also on the beach. You can't have both.

If you want high frames you need to spend a lot of money and/or sacrifice resolution and/or performance. These things aren't good compromises with a handheld system. Calling it a hybrid is just pure bs. The dock can provide some overclock cooling and some upscaling tricks but it's not a new system. It's a handheld that can output to tv. At this point we are 90% of the way to that being the same as a console and that's wonderful. But in that 10% the issue remains that we can't have frames, resolution, and cheapness.

I will stand behind my statement that the 120hz screen was a mistake. Nintendo should have stuck with OLED 60Hz and had the screen component cost 60% of what it does now. Mainly because a lot of you tech crazy folks would have had your expectations limited. The only game that takes advantage of this is an indie that's like a Gameboy game.

I hear there's a handheld that's going to cost 1500, go get that and then complain every hour when the battery runs out.

But what we don't need is reviews that say a 9/10 game gets a 6 because the frames are locked to 30. 30 with no dips is solid and what you need to expect on the Switch 2. If that's not good enough for you, I recommend selling your system and chase that dragon elsewhere.

I can't believe you wrote that many words to say 'I only like games that are 60 fps.'

This is a handheld sir. I think you need to transfer off Nintendo Life to save yourself the horror of playing games at the same frame rate all movies have been played at. (Actually that was 24.)

I am so absolutely sick of people making graphics their primary concern, and it's been like this for my entire life. But it's doubly concerning when you're complaining because the cheaper handheld can't do what the absurdly expensive systems can.

You praise this cash grabber and then slam it for something that's not even realistic to request from a game at the start of a console life cycle.

Re: Poll: Three Months In, How Would You Rate Switch 2's Library So Far?

Misima

In my mind the system has DK, Kart, Cyberpunk and some Switch 2 editions because I am not counting games without true physical editions. If you're going to include the Switch games the library is 10/10. If you're including licenses for games you will eventually not have any right to play it goes up to 8. But as of right now there's a couple of very high quality games and a couple of good games available in physical so I can't say the library is bad. It's not bad.

Always remember that we used to have like 2 games for months with a new system.

But I must say that I am just playing Balatro and other older games. My dollar per hour value is good still.

Re: Review: Star Wars Outlaws (Switch 2) - An Underrated Adventure, A Super-Solid Port

Misima

If you're the type of gamer that can't handle 30 fps, you shouldn't have a Switch 2. So many of the ports are going to require that.

This is why I don't understand why Nintendo wasted money pushing the machine to 120 when it's going to be like 15% of games at best that use it. The system could have been cheaper or had OLED if they just kept it down at 60hz and that refresh ms problem probably wouldn't be there.

If you pray to the alter of high frame rate you probably should stick to playing on very expensive machines. I'll be happy with a non soap opera effect machine.

Re: Talking Point: Would Drag x Drive Be Better With Miis Or Non-Mouse Control Options?

Misima

You can't do non mouse controls and this game still be this game. You would break the small player base in two and it would end. The controls are the strongest and weakest part of the game.

In a situation such as that, you need to make everything else as well polished and engaging as possible. They simply didn't. Miis might have helped, but honestly they needed to go bigger and tried to make this game like fortnite. (Despite the fact that I am not a fan of that, many are ) Start with a great character creator and lots of charm in levels, with added variety in game mode and flourishes. Then introduce the Nintendo IP once people get comfortable with the game so no one accuses Nintendo of making light of wheel chair users.

They could even have shown Mario hanging out with characters who switch from a standard wheelchair to a sport wheelchair to signify they use this as sport and mobility, and they invite Mario to play with them and he eagerly jumps into the chair. Then it's about inclusion and not exploitation. They would have been celebrated for it. Then a few years later they might have Darth Vader dunking on some meme character and no one would have batted an eye.

Re: Opinion: We Need To Talk About X Games

Misima

@SalvorHardin Mega Man X Mega Man X: Deus X Machina X Deus Ex Human Revolution X Invisible War X Maverick X Monster X Hunter X Crusader Kings 3.

My favorite new game where Zero hunts monster hunters who have been using augments to become more than monsters and human via a conspiracy theory, but your busy getting Mega Man to have arranged marriages to keep the Light family tree from being absorbed by the Sigma family tree. The best 4x, sandbox, platformer, romance simulator, slash em up game.

Re: Opinion: We Need To Talk About X Games

Misima

X is definitely a brain rot effect.a very, let's just invent an emoji to express a vibe rather than use language. It feels like no one cares if it's just a caveman grunt, as long as you get it is IP crossover, or at least the vibe of it.

This feels like a marketing team is trying hide that there's any art here to be had. This is thing you want times other things you want to make 'big number excitement- must buy!'. I just don't understand being inside a program as the code is changed, but I feel it in these little idiosyncrasies. It feels like finally seeing the Matrix, but not gaining an ability to fly... But just an ability to process ***** more and either decide to consume less or more in accordance with you esoteric principles.

Ultimately this will never factor into my decisions about a game, it will only mean there will come a time where someone says, "no that's actually pronounced differently". Okay, sure, fine, I am not versed in you language. I only speak English and bad English. The game only speaks 0 and 1. So I guess this is all just a fan translation.

Someone call Jacob Geller, this feels borderline philosophy and I know he can handle it with gravity.
