People have gotten so spoiled. The NES was a garbage system that crashed all the time, had absurdly hard games that were expensive and poorly designed. It was what was available and it was great because it was there.
The Switch 2 is here and fine. Buy it or don't. I don't get it. It's still better than most systems we bought over the years.
I get so much crap for my comments on this site and then this article is terrible and it's not getting torn apart like it should.
Christmas presents are not about value. They're about being convinced that some thing will make you happy and convincing someone else that it's important.
@alexybubble Never think good will come from this. It never leads to good. Even if it did, what happens when the next Netflix CEO decides to use it for evil?
... And this Netflix CEO fired the director of programming that brought us Orange is the New Black, Bojack, Stranger Things, etc. and hired the director of alternative programming that mandated people are too stupid to follow plot so the characters need to say out loud the plot many times.
This is the worst outcome for WB, despite WB being run by the worst studio executive in decades.
@rockodoodle all the options are bad. HBO Max is without a doubt the best streaming service and all the other companies are worse. I pray this doesn't go through.
The Switch is interesting because it's not as impressive because it's not a new idea... But if you can retrain your brain to be fair about it it's almost better in every regard. I hate the magnetic connector and I do think some of the features are costly additions I won't ever use, such as HDR and 120hz. But it's just generally a better version overall.
The faults truly come in through bad decisions by Nintendo and third party companies. What really hurts the system the most is the fact that storage is absurdly expensive and game key cards hurt preservation.
I don't do any piracy or emulation of new systems but Nintendo is seemingly begging me to do it with these bad choices. Now a lot of this is because humanity is completely Stupid now worshipping at the font of LLMs, and that's not Nintendo at fault, but how much do you let these meta issues affect your assessment of a product? Where do you draw the line and say this is when you can't lower the value or rating of an object of review? That's a philosophy question that needs to be answered and understood before having this discussion. Much in the same way you had to grapple with the N64 using cartridges versus CDs when comparing N and S in the 90s.
I don't know what to think of the system beyond the fact that I'm satisfied. Bananza and Cyberpunk were extremely enjoyable on the system, as was the Simpsons Fortnite. And the mouse controls are something that begs for a proper mouse controller hybrid to push to the next level.
But ultimately I wonder now is the Switch 2 going to be able to compete with Steam moving forward when you want to sit in front of the TV due to price.
Most of my gameplay since buying the Switch 2 has been with Switch 1 games and I can't say I needed to have this system. But for Cyberpunk the experience was more enjoyable because I didn't have a hot laptop on my lap, and Bananza couldn't have happened anywhere else. Kart world was a horrible disappointment, but so was deluxe (for me.)
But I am using the system and having fun so I can't rate it less than acceptable. The Switch 2 is a better system than nearly every system I have ever owned but I don't think of it as fondly as many flawed systems of years past and that's an academic concern.
If you're wondering if you should buy it, I would say you should if you can afford it. But ultimately what we will remember are the games and I only see one game that could only be played on the NS2. Bananza. Is that enough to justify a purchase? I would say no. But we also know that someday the games will come.
Ultimately the system is a 94 out of 100 when all is considered and what you thought of the system coming in is still true, we just all know that all things considered the system is still excellent.
Kart in the right place?!? Sorry but Mario Kart World really sucks. I don't think it should be said that's the right place for it. I just don't see the love for it.
I am kinda depressed because I found I really liked the Simpsons fortnite. It was my entire month and now I'm playing regular fortnite for the first time and it's awful. That game treated my depression temporarily and now it's gone and I'm so bored idk what to do.
The Mario movie was okay in that there's not much to Mario in terms of story so there was no risk of damaging my mental canon. A movie about Zelda and Link can only reshape the entire zeitgeist around the games and I'm not looking for that. I will never be seeing this film because I don't want things re-contextualized.
@masterLEON That's a lot of words to justify something that is just propaganda.
PC games that sold 350k copies kept free online for years. But you think the company that sold a billion games last generation needed the money more.
You're not going to convince me they couldn't have done that, not that the 50 I paid for a multiplayer only game wasn't enough to cover the only game mode there was to play.
In my opinion Nintendo tricked me into giving them money for a few month rental. The amount of damage they did to my faith in them precluded me ever spending money on their online service.
But whatever, no one on the planet cares about me, least of all a trillion dollar company.
I was the first person at school to have Pokemon because I was a Nintendo kid. I got blue and got 150, then got yellow. Then I got the second gen and was bored with it and never finished it.
I don't know about the other games, but I just feel like Pokemon didn't ever want to be a game for anyone above the age of 15. Not saying adults can't enjoy it, but it's just not a game that ever grew up

Re: Video: Skyrim Still Isn't 60fps On Switch 2, But Here's How It Fares Against Switch 1
@Markatron84 I personally couldn't care about 60 fps, as long as it is pretty stable. 24fps locked is all I want.

@Arkabed when my grandkids are on their deathbed they will be able to buy Skyrim 100th anniversary edition for 1000 dollars, at this rate.
Re: Video: Skyrim Still Isn't 60fps On Switch 2, But Here's How It Fares Against Switch 1
Anyone paying this much for this game has lost it. Games this old are supposed to be under 10 bucks.

It probably will not do anything, but contact your politicians and demand they prevent the merger.

Re: Community: It's Time To Rate Your Switch 1 & 2 Games Of The Year
For me it's Bananza. I don't particularly have anything amazing to say but it's the original game that made me feel the best during the year.
