I am ready for a Xenoblade 1 remaster. It is stunning on dolphin with upgraded textures and high res... I would love to experience the game again like this on my switch.
This re-release is a bit frustrating as it really doesn't offer new content. The ability to play as Nabbit in NSMBU — not just NSLU is not that special. The additional of Toadette .. who transforms to Peachette?! That just seems like nonsense.
Perhaps if they had bundled NSMB Wii and ported the DS versions as well — a pack of them might have been alluring.
And yes - as the commenter above said - if Tropic Breeze had had the other DKC game packed in, then that too would have been more exciting.
So... I live in Texas. The classic cartoon portrayal of cowboys alongside Indians and how they speak, behave and look is offensive if it were intended to be an accurate representation for educational and instructional purposes. But it never has been.
Every race and religion has cartoon like attributes. As we all know. The only ones you can make fun of are those related to white people. 😀. That's offensive as it's unfair to comedy and is reverse cultural misappropriation ...
I loved XBX. The game felt unfinished as the ending did not resolve the plot. I went insane from the music to the point of modding the game and replacing with the colony 9 day and night themes from XBC. Much better.
Would I play it again? No. Too many hours invested.
So I downloaded Torna. Heard that I also get 15 Legendary Cores for XBC2, fired up XBC2 and played it for another 5 hours to do the side quests for Tand have yet to start Torna.
I'm at 180 hours in XBC2 and with the exception of Odyssey, it's pretty much the only thing I've been playing this year
I think that playing either game first will spoil bits of the other game — so I'm interested at seeing how Monolith addressed this — I'm certain that they took this into consideration and crafted something that has mystery either way you flip the coin.
IVs have been found to be nothing more than bonus stats that amount to an immeasurable boost in gym battles. There are many articles on this, many videos on this, and much discussion about this.
At the current time, IVs just serve to be a VERY tiny bonus stat. But ... I still chase 100 IV Pokemon
Love Mario Run. Totally worth $10. $60 million disappointing? From an integrity standpoint, I think that Nintendo delivered a great game that wasn't bogged down with microtransactions. Perhaps it was a missed opportunity to make more money, but if they think there's an angle there, they can just make Mario Run 2.
Remember how popular Angry Birds and Plants vs Zombies were as premium titles? Sure they were a buck or two — but their sequels had tons of in-game purchases and failed to be as iconic in their success.
Sometimes I think it's worth having a solid title in your catalog.
If they were smart, they'd release Mario Run for the Switch and they'd likely sell it to 50% of the userbase.
Waluigi is not [currently] announced as a character to take people's focus away from Reggie. It's obvious. Had Waluigi been included, then people would be demanding Reggie's inclusion instead.
[rolls eyes] The over use of fruit imagery seems like the devs figured out how to make a cart racer but failed miserably at figuring out how to create a compelling IP with memorable characters.
Wouldn't it make more sense for these guys to talk to other developers at other companies who might be interested in the engine to extend their branding/characters into a new role? The engine itself looks better than Little Big Planet racing and looks to be as good as or better than Sonic & SEGA All-Star Racing ...
The overabundance of fruit just seems to take a page from Fruit Ninja, Candy Crush, Wreck-it-Ralph, etc.
I know this isn't the point ... but I wouldn't be interested in this due to the art style being a complete annoyance.
It would make a whole lot of sense for Splatoon 2 to go cross-platform. Not only would it shock the world to see Nintendo IPs on XBOX and PC (I'll go ahead and assume Playstation and PSN won't play fair) — but it would make a lot of sense.
Splatoon 2 is one of the best games of its type and the number one barrier to adoption in the marketplace is being limited to the Switch. This game and franchise are BIGGER than the Switch and BIGGER than Nintendo's platform. Unlike other games that Nintendo creates, this is the one game that deserves to go multi-platform. Add to this that it's developed by a new, younger team of developers — it's the perfect time and perfect game to do this.
Other games likes Zelda BOTW and Mario belong on Switch. Splatoon belongs where the gamers are.
I'm at the last boss battle and I still haven't figured out how I would really benefit from new blades unless they would be usable and useful for that matter in the new story content DLC that has been promised. There are already enough blades that are a blast to use and I still haven't managed to obtain quite a few...
I'd like to give Billy Mitchell the benefit of the doubt considering that I would think that anyone going to this length to have the top score in Donkey Kong would be demented.
From what I understand, using MAME would allow him a minuscule edge in being able to line up the perfect game. He would still need to be able to 'pilot' the game towards this goal. Creating a low-fi recording of this and doing something like replaying levels from a save point — or doctoring the game first before playing would still require an absolute amazing amount of skill.
In other words, the way I see it is that if Billy Mitchell did cheat, he's still the #2 Donkey Kong player by a tiny margin and would have been driven to cheat to such a ridiculous length by an obsession of reaching an unachievable goal.
I think that it would be nice if no matter what the outcome is, that Billy be honored as the gamer that he is. If he cheated, then any responsible news outlet should be sure to have an understanding of what advantages 'cheating' provided and what the likely outcome would have been without doing it.
I believe that if he did cheat, the difference here may have been enough to differentiate him between 1st and 2nd — but that's it. If he cheated, was it wrong? Yes, lying is always wrong unless the person you are lying to is using truth as a weapon and it is irresponsible to disclose to them. In this case, it's the public and fans and it would have been very wrong to lie, but given forgiveness, Billy likely inspired many other competitors to achieve incredible scores in order to compete with a miniscule lead that he achieved through forgery and trickery.
There's still a story here that would be notable. If he cheated, then it's a great story about Donkey Kong leading to a mental disorder that is rooted in competitive gaming at the highest level. Still an amazing gamer.
BTW, probably a long shot, but do MAME-based cabinets exist wherein the cabinet has been 'refurbished' using MAME? It would be interesting if they could actually find the supposed cabinet that he used (do they have it?)
I have 5 kids. I hate Toys R Us. It's the biggest collection of overpriced plastic and except for Black Friday, was rarely the place to find a good deal. Any parent wanting to avoid screaming and crying children would avoid Toys R Us at all cost. It's easier to deal with Walmart and Target — and that's really what happened. Parents opt to buy toys at other stores — Toys R Us was a jack of all trades, master-of-none. My question is .... what about the Toys R Us / Babies R Us combo stores? Did Babies R Us go out of business?
I think NintendoLife might want to run a poll as an article so that the fanbase that they are riling up can be properly heard.
Nintendo really should have multiplied our gold coins to equal present day value.
I'd rather them kill off the rewards system at this point as it's just a bit insulting. As many have remarked — Amazon Prime discounts are far better than any you'll get from Nintendo. It should not be that way.
Great job disappointing fans who have been saving their gold coins, Nintendo. Geeze. I thought that the discount coupons were silly enough. The program only works when you don't really care about the gold coins and a serendipitous coincidence happens where a non-Switch game that they are offering has gold coin promo on...
The silver lining is that we are no worse off than we were before.
Previous Gold Coins should have been scaled up to meet the new value.
Would it be nice if they did a QOL Update to reduce the amount of overlapping 'Think you can take me?!' voices (or at least lower the volume)? OR — as this article seems to indicate — is it just kind of funny how jarring any annoying that line is when used in the game by mobs of Ardenian soldiers?
My only gripe is that I wish there was a SINGLE Labo software purchase, choice of starter kit, and additional starter kits were sold separately.
Imagine if Skylanders/Disney Infinity worked by buying a different game disc / cartridge for each pack of toys?
I could imagine buying a starter kit and then buying each expansion... but buying a $60 kit, a $70 kit, then future $60 kits ... that's where this is too expensive.
I'm in the camp of 'best game ever' with this one The fact that they've allowed us to skip dialogue in the menu system is a WELCOME update and quite thoughtful on their part.
Frame rate is fine. I've only encountered one moment where I was taken aback by the game becoming choppy. Xenoblade Chronicles 1 had a few of those moments too. It's fine. The core game is unlike anything I've seen.
You know how singers used to not auto tune their voices and how that gave their singing personality? That's kinda how I see this game's flaws.
So ... isn't the obvious question whether or not Labo will pave the way for a DIY VR Kit like Google Cardboard?
And also - there's NO WAY that Nintendo won't be selling the cardboard by itself There's too much opportunity there for people who either want to replace, or want to build the same thing a second time and try different artistic touches...
Labo is pretty brilliant. I'm hoping Nintendo will annouce that future kits will be available ... Does each Labo kit have a different cartridge, or is there one Labo Cartridge and the kit determines what cardboard you get and what things you can do? I'd prefer this as Nintendo can push updates and keep demand up for buying $20 cardboard kits for a long time... It's DLC with real world things — it's Amiibo but totally different.
Funny, we just went retro (for my 12 year old) and played Excitebots for a few hours a few nights ago. We adored the game. Even those 'annoying' red bars were fun because they gave you a chance to plan your next move - and sometimes, you'd pick your path and avoid those if you could score more points on a different route. Both games are excellent and truly there's no reason to pick one over the other — pick both!
Pulling off stunts and being constantly engaged was addicting and we scored an 'S' on every course on every mode!
We hope they revisit the series with an Excitetruck 2. Would be amazing!
I imagine that speedrunners are capable of doing what they are doing because they have already invested a great amount of time into enjoying the small nuances of the game. For any who are concerned that it ruins the experience, please consider that speed running is simply a post-game activity. One cannot really be good at speedrunning unless they have explored the game extensively. Anyone who speedruns by copying others without properly playing the game — perhaps by copying YouTube videos - is just silly and shouldn't be taken seriously.
I'm watching my 7 year old speedrun Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and skip cut scenes. That is what I think is tragic.
I'm thinking Ultimate Street Fighter II will receive a steep price drop in the eShop... this is a great compilation, but I must admit I love the HD visuals in USF2.
I'd play FFXV on the Switch. I own it on PS4 and had it shortly before getting a Switch. The load times were so horrible that I would imagine a Switch optimized version being a better overall experience. FFXV just felt a bit heavy and clunky ... even if it's the pocket version, I might enjoy it a bit more. It's the first non-online FF game that I've not completed since the SNES.
I imagine Nintendo releasing a Switch with modest upgrades to hardware in 2019 as well as a Switch Home which will be TV only. My dream would be that Nintendo would find a way to allow digital purchases to be used within a household the same way that cartridges are used — in that if a household owns multiple Switches, the games can be shared but only used once. We'd love to own multiple, our kids lose things, thus we are sticking to digital and only buying single copies.
There should be no expiration in gold points... That way early Switch adopters aren't going to lose opportunities to spend on the system that they are actually playing.
My kids want this and we have a PS4 that I'm just not interested in purchasing anything on... FFXV was the first Final Fantasy game that I gave up on due to long load times and Zelda: BOTW and the PS4 has pretty much just been gathering dust. Even if the PS4 versions are higher resolution and framerate, there's just something so much more enjoyable about playing everything on the Switch and being able to have the versatility.
Considering how well BOTW has sold and how many hours players are putting into it, I'd say that the things that fail to break formula were the reasons for the game's success.
The article did make me realize that the # of enemy types is rather limited — although it doesn't really occur to me while playing. Honestly, most enemies from the previous games are included.
Would love the future DLC to include Dodongos, a graveyard full of Poe's (can't believe these didn't make it!) and sure — some Skulltulas would be great... and someone informing us that his name is 'ERROR'.
More than anything, it would have been amazing if the 'Dark Link' from Zelda II had been a part of the story arch involving Ganon using the Guardians and Divine Beasts against the Hylians... I was expecting this to be part of the plot and why Link ended up in the chamber of sleep and why there was so much mystery in the story's presentation ... I was waiting for a plot twist that never happened
I don't understand why this game is so beloved... it's predecessor: Shantae and the Pirate's Curse — was in a league well above and beyond this for it's level design, replay factor, pacing, dialog, plot, etc. I would like to think that this one is resting on the laurels of the games that came before it.
And yes, I did 100% this on the Wii U — but found myself just plodding through it. There were a few difficult to find items, the map screen felt like a mobile app, and several of the plot points felt like part of an episode of a television series, rather than a feature film. Characters were casually brought in and you would almost imagine a laugh track accompanying them — as opposed to Pirate's Curse where there was depth and comedy to several of the characters and their predicaments.
Now ... I'd love Pirate's Curse redone with the HD Graphics
Nintendo's announcement that no more NES Minis were going to be made that they posted on Twitter included the phrase 'this year' or something similar and it seemed that every media outlet ignored that statement.
You know, I'd dump my gold coins on Zelda: BOTW Picross in a heartbeat if they had it simply because they are going to expire before any Switch rewards exist. That's not a very nice way to run a rewards program. Many of us purchased a Switch and at least 3-4 first party games and are sitting on gold coins waiting for ANYTHING to come out for Switch.
We've enjoyed the launch of legendaries in our town — with my 5 kids, we joined large crowds of people in Keller, TX who were fighting off legendaries. I caught both on my second ball and stayed humbly quiet as few other people did. Very lucky on my part - now I'm committed to helping my kids find some more legendary raids
For what its worth, in my town, Pokemon Go! has not been as alive as this since it launched. The best aspect of the game is getting out, going to places you'd usually not go, discovering more things about your town with friends or family, and gawking as mini vans unload full of kids and moms and dads all playing together. It's always surprising.
Wanted to make a cute little note — this reminded me of when Demi @ NeoDemiForce translated Ganbare Goemon! Karakuri Douchuu for me many many years ago We were friends over IRC (Internet Relay Chat for those who weren't around when all the ROM hacking started). There's a shout out to me in the title screen
Goemon games are amazing and the lack of localization of more than just the SNES "Mystical Ninja" and Goemon 64 (Mystical Ninja starring Goemon) are a huge shame!
@Yorumi I feel the same way. Bought it digitally for $60 for the Wii U and would love a discount on puchasing it digitally on Switch for my kids. Nintendo were pretty great about the digital launch and sent people who requested a Dark MewTwo amiibo Card one for free so that they wouldn't miss out on the retail bonus. I could imagine them doing something here too. They didn't for MK8 Deluxe though...
The comments here reaffirm my first thought when I read the article.
1-2-Switch is also quite overpriced... and I already own this game on PS3 (essentially). I'd love to have this, but at $40, I'm essentially overpaying and throwing caution to the wind. Perhaps Capcom is looking to cash in on the miracle of the Switch. Mario Kart 8's sales, for instance, are beyond anyone's expectations (including Nintendo's) — and that too is double dipping on an existing title with added bonuses.
I'd love for them to REMOVE the Way of the Hado mode. It's a bit embarrassing to have that in there. Physical copies should come with the Street Fighter II anime movie as a purchase bonus.
Called around and managed to snag the last one from a local Gamestop. The next store over had several in stock. Today is a GREAT day to get one if you've been having a hard time!
@DarthFoxMcCloud I felt the exact same way Still love my Wii-U. Decided to jump on getting a Switch for my kids after my buddy brought his over and they fell in love with it.
"Throughout April, [Nintendo of America] territories will receive the last shipments of Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition systems for this year. "
Does no one pay attention to the actual official statement's verbiage.
-THIS YEAR- not forever. This is the last shipment for this year. The discussion should rather be what 'this year' means.
Does 'this year' mean 2017? Does 'this year' mean November 10 2016 to November 10 2017 (the first year of the product?)
Would you like to see the NES Classic Edition 2 released next holiday season with a new line up of games?
Or is Nintendo doing this because it intends to push the Virtual Console for Switch, as others have suggested?
I personally think it's smart. I'm not sure how much $ is made on each unit after licensing fees, etc. But a new version seems likely in the future.
Not sure if I would want to replay this one... The pirates curse was insanely good but this one seemed far too easy to 100% and replaying the levels was tedious. Hardest part was after the final boss battle. Almost turned it off.
Absolutely love that this game exists. I still like this fighter over all of them (maybe it's my age). Price is way too high since I purchased SF2 and SSF2 on the SNES and then purchased SSF2HD for PS3.. not to mention SF3/SF4 on PS4 — both for way less. At this point, repacking and selling Street Fighter II requires added content, not added price.

Re: Spoiler Alert Is Like A Reverse Version Of Super Mario Bros. Due Out On February 1st
Great Concept.
Time for them to delay and get a new graphic artist to redo the entire thing in pixel art, which seems more appropriate.
The music is pretty bland too - I get it, it's a red chili pepper and the music has accordians etc.
However, is a red chili pepper as the hero a good idea? What aspects of the game are necessary for a chili to be involved in? Wearing a dinosaur hat?
Game does not look like the product of any sort of focused effort.

Re: Capcom Could Be Bringing Even More Ports To Nintendo Switch
Little Nemo: the Dream Master — HD Remix! With special first person candy throwing mini-game.
Re: Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection Rumbles Onto Switch May 2018
I'm thinking Ultimate Street Fighter II will receive a steep price drop in the eShop... this is a great compilation, but I must admit I love the HD visuals in USF2.
Re: Square Enix on What to Expect on the Switch in the Future
I'd play FFXV on the Switch. I own it on PS4 and had it shortly before getting a Switch. The load times were so horrible that I would imagine a Switch optimized version being a better overall experience. FFXV just felt a bit heavy and clunky ... even if it's the pocket version, I might enjoy it a bit more. It's the first non-online FF game that I've not completed since the SNES.
Re: Ubisoft Thinks The Next Console Cycle Isn't Far Away, So Where Does That Leave Switch?
I imagine Nintendo releasing a Switch with modest upgrades to hardware in 2019 as well as a Switch Home which will be TV only. My dream would be that Nintendo would find a way to allow digital purchases to be used within a household the same way that cartridges are used — in that if a household owns multiple Switches, the games can be shared but only used once. We'd love to own multiple, our kids lose things, thus we are sticking to digital and only buying single copies.
Re: Europe Gets Eight New Wii U and 3DS My Nintendo Discount Rewards
There should be no expiration in gold points... That way early Switch adopters aren't going to lose opportunities to spend on the system that they are actually playing.
Re: Random: Did Reggie Just Accidentally Reveal Switch's Next Big Game Announcement?
That was entirely intentional, as it's everything Reggie says. Let the hype train leave the station!
Re: Rumour: Keymailer Lists Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy for the Switch
Love it!
Re: Soapbox: Breath Of The Wild Is Amazing, But Is It The 3D Zelda That Enthusiasts Expected?
Re: My Nintendo in North America Adds Free Games to its Gold Rewards
Runner2 -is- nice, but we not only do not want to load anything new on our Wii U, but we already purchased this via the Humble Nindies Bundle.
Re: LEGO Worlds Just Got a New Update
Anyone here actually own this?
Re: XSEED Games Reveals What Will Come Included with Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition
Re: Nintendo Is Resurrecting The NES Classic Mini And Increasing SNES Classic Inventory
Nintendo's announcement that no more NES Minis were going to be made that they posted on Twitter included the phrase 'this year' or something similar and it seemed that every media outlet ignored that statement.
Re: Metroid-Themed My Nintendo Rewards Come To North America
You know, I'd dump my gold coins on Zelda: BOTW Picross in a heartbeat if they had it simply because they are going to expire before any Switch rewards exist. That's not a very nice way to run a rewards program. Many of us purchased a Switch and at least 3-4 first party games and are sitting on gold coins waiting for ANYTHING to come out for Switch.
Re: Pokémon GO Fest Endures Problematic Weekend But Legendaries Arrive Globally
Re: Famicom Title "Ganbare Goemon Gaiden: Kieta Ōgon Kiseru" Translated to English
Wanted to make a cute little note — this reminded me of when Demi @ NeoDemiForce translated Ganbare Goemon! Karakuri Douchuu for me many many years ago We were friends over IRC (Internet Relay Chat for those who weren't around when all the ROM hacking started). There's a shout out to me in the title screen
https://www.romhacking.net/?page=translations&action=images&id=565&imageid=title&orig=0
Goemon games are amazing and the lack of localization of more than just the SNES "Mystical Ninja" and Goemon 64 (Mystical Ninja starring Goemon) are a huge shame!
Re: Pokkén Tournament DX Confirmed For Nintendo Switch
@Yorumi I feel the same way. Bought it digitally for $60 for the Wii U and would love a discount on puchasing it digitally on Switch for my kids. Nintendo were pretty great about the digital launch and sent people who requested a Dark MewTwo amiibo Card one for free so that they wouldn't miss out on the retail bonus. I could imagine them doing something here too. They didn't for MK8 Deluxe though...
Re: Capcom Continues to Explore and Plan Nintendo Switch Support
Re: GameStop Confirms Nintendo Switch Stock Now In US Stores With Trade-In Credit Deal
Re: Nintendo Has Discontinued The NES Classic Edition in North America
Re: Square Enix is Considering More Nintendo Switch Releases
XV wouldn't be a good Switch candidate. Performance on the game and framerate isn't even great on the PS4.
Re: Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Version 1.01 Goes Live in North America on Thursday
Not sure if I would want to replay this one... The pirates curse was insanely good but this one seemed far too easy to 100% and replaying the levels was tedious. Hardest part was after the final boss battle. Almost turned it off.
Re: Ultra Street Fighter II Will Let You Play As Green Ryu, If That Takes Your Fancy
