I didn't expect them to do this, but the demo feels useless to me unless I can catch and keep Pokemon. If I knew nothing about the game, then this would be a nice surprise. But I already knew most of the things going into the demo.
Also, the totem bosses don't seem like they'll be very difficult...
It's been this long and no one tried it until now? That's incredible and hilarious. Looks like everyone's gonna scramble for a new world record! (Unless there's some glitch that allows you to skip forbidden forest)
To think people still wouldn't know if the HD remake never came out.
Edit: Or maybe not. The speed run isn't much slower, if at all, since you can kill Kalle Demos in one cycle.
"That's why I was never a fan of role-playing games. In any given RPG (even XCX, which I enjoyed a lot), upgrading your gear always feels so meaningless!"
@shani
That's interesting, because one of the reasons many people like Paper Mario and the Thousand Year door is because the badges in the game can completely change the way your weapons work! On top of that, battles were interesting because you had quick-time events the whole time, so you weren't just sitting there and watching. But if you don't like RPGs, that's not going to make the game for you anyway.
That's what I expected. The killer here is really the lack of a challenge. Everything was good until you said "but in practice you'll rarely run dry". It's so unfortunate. I would have a blast with this game if it was just easier to run out of paint. Any way I could create an artificial difficulty? (Besides the mentioned limiting your card painting.)
Download Play makes it a definite purchase from me. World Tour was such a great game, but I couldn't play the dlc courses with anyone so it quickly lost all of its appeal.
Glad those other countries get to enjoy the game, but I'm pretty done with it other here. Since they don't seem to be changing the battle formula anytime soon, I think the only thing that will draw me back in is gen 3.
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy @Nicolai I have never heard of a SM64 ROM getting canned, although I've only known they were a thing for a few years. Star Road is a very successful ROM hack that has been around several years with no problems. There are mountains of lesser SM64 ROM hacks as well.
Trailer looks good overall, but some of those new features/enemies look meh. I figured a new one of these would come out eventually. Strange how Nintendo doesn't seem to care about SM64 ROM hacks.
I'm not planning on getting the NX until they inevitably show a game I really, really want. It will probably happen sooner than I would like, but at the least I won't care about NX prior to any games being shown.
@Churchy Oh look that's me, at least for the time being.
I much prefer using the old play control for Pikmin. I need precision if I'm not going to lose any Pikmin. I would only consider it if the graphics were better than the original, but since this is a Wii game I don't think so.
It does look very polished, but I just hope the mechanics are fun. See, no matter what anyone says, I think that was the same thing with Sticker Star; it was an extremely polished game with just boring gameplay and character design.
@nono6400 DKCR is a lot more full than DKTF, imo. DKTF has better graphic & level design, better enemies, easier controls, and swimming; but, when it come to just platforming, DCKR is king with 2 more worlds and many more levels than DKTF. DCKR also has this really classic world progression that's just fantastic. World 6 is also stunning.
But, important to know is that's just my opinion and this is one of my favorite games, so I'm a bit biased.
I'm ready for this one! Mario Party DS was a lot of fun, hopefully this will be too! And download play is great since I never got to play with anyone on Mario Golf: World Tour.
@SniffitisWhiffit It's usually in Nintendo's interest to save good features of the game until closer to release to generate hype (see Pokemon Sun & Moon), and more importantly Nintendo doesn't spoil entire games before release.
"Oh here's the final boss of Pikmin 4! Here's his weak spots and I hope you enjoy fighting against him yourself!" said no one ever.
And I'm not too concerned with the game either way, I have the Wii U version after all. I'm just curious to see how the whole thing pans out; how many times the internet reports positive articles vs. negative articles about this game will be interesting for me to see.
T'was a (very) fun game while it lasted. I actually could enjoy this game for hours more, but I just don't feel compelled to play it anymore. It's weird.
Although they did an excellent job, the bomb burst mechanic in Plague of Shadows isn't exactly my favorite, so I'm excited to see how this campaign turns out!
I don't care about the Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing games atm, but Super Mario Run has caught my attention (I heard level editor). We'll see; it's not like it's coming to Android any time soon.
It'll be nice to play this portable, but there are several concerns, like the one people keep mentioning, can I get my courses from my own Wii U, and what exactly won't be compatible in some courses from the Wii U version?
@TrueWiiMaster Nothing video game related is strictly against Catholic beliefs, but there are aspects of it that are frowned upon. In general, the Church worries about people spending too much time on video games instead of having an impact on their community and helping the poor (and it's definitely an issue to a degree). The older generations tend to go overboard though because they didn't grow up with the stuff.
Part of me thinks this bishop is seeing gamers for the first time since they're usually playing video games inside their houses.
People who don't see both sides of the coin don't usually know what they're talking about, and a very harsh statement like this one usually indicates that.
@InternetBowser If I may interject here, religion defines strict rules because it attempts to define the truth of the human being. If you go against the rules you jeopardize what your religion promises, since the rules were only instantiated in the first place to help fulfill those promises. It's kinda like a roadmap to help get you to your destination; you don't have to use it, but if you think it's right why not? Otherwise you might never get there...
And probably more importantly, there are many many smaller issues which are not defined, such as Pokemon GO. This bishop is presenting his (imo extreme) opinion of the game; but this does not affect Church doctrine in any way.
I really enjoyed the game, but the fact that I can't purchase anything permanent really killed it for me. I know that's the ftp model but that's exactly why I abhor the ftp model.
@Jeronan The tracking system worked for the first two weeks. And it was really fun, too.
"Pokemon GO exactly captures that same CORE gameplay"
No way man. In core Pokemon gameplay you KNOW you'll find a Pokemon inside a patch of grass if you walk around enough, and Pokemon actually correspond to the location you're at. In Pokemon GO they arbitrarily spawn corresponding to "historical cell phone usage" and whatever Niantic's climate systems are which they give you no details about. If there were marked areas on the map where Pokemon would ALWAYS spawn if you walked around enough, then yes, it would be like the core mechanic. But we don't have that, do we?
In the core games if I surf to the power pant I find electric Pokemon. In Pokemon GO, I only find electric Pokemon, if any Pokemon at all, if Niantic decided Pokemon should actually spawn there.
And in fact, ORAS has a working Pokemon radar with the DexNav.
Like I have hinted at many times, it really depends on the speed at which they churn out updates and new Pokemon. The tracker bug needs to be fixed by the end of this month, and we should at least get a release date for gen 2 by the end of the year for me to stay interested. Hopefully Sun/Moon will be good, and if it is it can easily take my attention away from GO.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of the Nintendo Switch?
I'm feeling 5 months is a long time...
Re: Here Are The Games Officially Confirmed in the Nintendo Switch Reveal
Mario Kart 8 has an additional item slot + King Boo, and that Splatoon map looks new to me.
Whether they're ports or not, they've got extra features from the current games.

I'd grab Kirby: Canvas Curse on a sale, since I lost my original DS copy.

I'm not here to say those were a fast four years but rather I didn't think I played this game four years ago.

I could care less about New Leaf! Where's my Mario Maker anniversary update?!?!
I wanted to like this game, but eventually I realized I was spending so much time doing nothing of value.

I'm not surprised at all, especially given that it can't handle all the Wii U levels.
At this point I'm just wondering if we'll hear a few more good things about this game.
Re: Poll: The GameCube is 15 Years Old - Pick Your Favourite Games

Re: Quest of Dungeons Confirmed for 29th September Release on Wii U
Other than the lack of a damage animation (which bugs me) this looks pretty good.
Re: The Nintendo 3DS Is Getting A New RPG Maker Game

And I'm trying to think of a good use for that ability (most water attacks are special) when I realized you could use soak on it!
