Things just keep getting smaller. I can't believe it's smaller than a DS game!
I have to admit, as much as I have little to no reason to buy the Switch until Odyssey comes out, this is a darn cool system. I really hope 3rd parties hop on and we get that Gamecube VC, because this could be a really fantastic console.
@Expa0 I'm in a similar boat. I tried to make this huge ambitious RPG with VX Ace (to maybe try and make some money) and eventually it just got way out of hand.
As a handheld release, I feel like I can relax and try to make a cute little adventure while out and about.
I'm not sure if anyone's going to see this 500 comments down, but the thing I'm wondering is what's an "additional map feature"? Makes it seem like the game won't be complete on March 3rd.
I don't mind paying the amount Nintendo has asked for. It's just that I have no reason to spend that much in the Switch's current state.
Super Mario Odyssey will help, but I imagine I'd need a little bit more to really be persuaded, which means I probably won't be getting the Switch for it's first year on the market. Considering how much I tend to like Nintendo, I just can't imagine how the mainstream market will react.
I will say though, that the controller prices are bogus. I think the same thing of the other consoles' controllers.
So if Wii Sports was smaller, why not bundle a smaller game with the switch? Doesn't have to be huge or innovative Nintendo. Just something to play when you need a break from Zelda.
Welp. Just read about the paid online service subscription. I don't think you understand Nintendo. I still haven't purchased the subscription for the PS4 and that's why I hardly play the console.
I get the financial reasoning for doing so. But, I have no intention of purchasing an online subscription service anytime, anywhere remotely soon. Which means any game that uses mostly online, say Splatoon 2, is pretty much off my list.
Maybe you can get the pricing right Nintendo. Maybe. You did it with Pokemon Bank. But I'm not expecting it at this point. There goes one more of your dwindling advantages over Sony/Microsoft.
Everything about the system looks great from what I've seen...but, there's one huge problem.
Not, enough, games. If all the games shown were coming out by the end of spring, that would be fantastic; and yet, they're doing the same thing they did with the Wii U. I get that BOTW will be fantastic, but I don't think it's enough to gather that wide market appeal that the Wii U never got a hold of. Do they expect the Switch to be a success just because it uses NVIDIA and sets itself apart from the Wii? After seeing eye-to-eye on Mario Kart 8's battle mode I would have thought they'd understand that the Switch needed to start with a bunch of new games, right off the bat. We'll see.
At the very least, I have little intention of grabbing the system until Mario Odyssey rolls around.
Dang Nintendo...you couldn't have at least 8 worlds or...just a little bit more? It's games like these that really remind me why Donkey Kong Country Returns was such a mind blowing experience for me.
Nintendo makes some fantastic games...but they tend to make them a little too short (barring Zelda games).
I believe I've said this before but I'll say it again: Despite all the failures of the Wii U, I still don't have all the games I want for the system, so if it was chock full of games I would have about the same amount I currently do. So the Wii U is nothing less than a success for me.
Not only that, but Mario Maker and Tropical Freeze will forever be some of my favorite games of all time, and while Splatoon may lose its luster, I had an incredibly awesome 100+ hours with the game.
Small Move/Pokemon Spoilers:
I was freaking out when I found out Leech Life was 80 power for the first time.
There are some really random new moves this Gen. Anchor Shot is really odd considering the only Pokemon that can use such a move, and I really want to see Burn Up. Like the only Pokemon that can learn Burn Up naturally are unobtainable or only found via Island Scan!
Well more specifically, it's good to have a PC for issues like this. Like, this is very frustrating for Wii U owners, but if you have a PC it's less of an issue.
Once Gen 3 gets here I will play this game non-stop. With Gen 2 I will fire up the game every once and a while, but I'm reminded my biggest issue with the game: I have a ton of places to go to play the game but none are in walking distance.
After Pokemon Shuffle, I am exceptionally disgruntled with games that I cannot buy all the features forever. $10 is a bit much, but at least I will consider getting this game now.
If this was a free-to-play model I would say "No Way!"
I also definitely think it's important to make the first mobile Mario title priced this way. It sets a good precedent that the Nintendo mobile games should have high enough quality that people are willing to purchase them outright.
I still haven't gotten the game because the playable character is an avatar. Xenoblade Chronicles is one of my favorite games because of the tight-nit story and in-depth characters while still giving you quite a bit of freedom in terms of gameplay and party structure.
That's not the only reason I don't want the game (because if it mattered that much I wouldn't have Sun/Moon), but it's what broke the camel's back big time.
So...you can't transfer your own courses on Wii U to or from the 3DS? That kills it. I spent so much time making courses on my Wii U, if I can't play them on my 3ds there is no point in me getting the game.
@rjejr I mean, it can be both, right? Back in the day though, IVs weren't as big of a deal as they were now, so the only big reason to trade was to get a Pokemon you didn't have or to evolve a Pokemon. If there wasn't two versions with exclusive Pokemon, many people would have little reason to trade, and people who don't play with friends would need two games to evolve their Pokemon anyway.
@Tsurii The main issue is if you're trying to catch a Pokemon and it keeps calling for help. You can't throw a Pokeball if there are two Pokemon on the battlefield. Otherwise you can run, or in the case of a totem boss there'll be a break eventually or you just get rid of the totem.
Any wild Pokemon can call for help, so it can get annoying. There are some Pokemon that call for help way too much; those are the ones that get really old, really fast.
Glad to see Etrian Odyssey IV and Rune Factory 4 on there. Two games that I hardly knew much about, took the chance and was not disappointed. Fantastic games.
@Elanczewski Xenoblade will always be a Wii game to me.
I'm not surprised, except for the fact that this bit of news comes out today of all days. Could have waited just a little bit longer.
I'm curious what my interest will be once the switch actually rolls around. But whatever; I've waited this long for Sun/Moon, I'm not about to wait any longer!
"most anticipated game" Whoa there, that goes to Pokemon! ... Well, I will say that Breath of the Wild will probably be better than Sun/Moon, but I'm definitely on the crazy hype train for Pokemon!
"deserved better" is not something I can reasonably comment on. However, the Wii U is up there with my favorite consoles, along with the Gamecube and the 3DS ('cause it can play DS games ).
With Mii messages it could actually be somewhat useful. However the other problem I had with it was that the download size is huge! So it's probably not worth it.
It looks oddly charming on the 3ds, I'll give it that. But if I can't transfer between the Wii U and the 3ds that's a no go...I've spent too much time making courses on the Wii U version.
I am curious though; there was a screen in a trailer that said Wii U something something in Japanese, so we'll see.

Huh. And here I was thinking this game was going to knock it out of the park...
Oh well, at least I do have Mario Tennis, Baseball, Golf, and Soccer. Just not all in one convenient package.
Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Dock Scratching Your Screen? Try This DIY Fix
I can totally see how this is an issue, but I've never had any problems with the 3ds scratches people are talking about.
Re: Site News: Nintendo Life is Red, Nintendo Life was Blue
The red's gonna make us all aggressive! The blue was nice and strategic!
In all seriousness though, no complaints here. In fact, I don't even remember what the old layout was already, ha ha.

Didn't think anyone would take MasterWario, but I got it anyway, just in case. I had some backup names too, another reason I wasn't too worried.
