The Pokémon Company has just revealed four brand new Pocket Monsters for Pokémon Sun and Moon, which is due to arrive on the 3DS later this year.
The new monsters were shown off at the ongoing 2016 Pokémon World Championships and their names are Crabawler, Sandygast, Palossand and Stufful.
Crabawler is a fighting-type Pokémon whose evolutions are unknown at this stage. Sandygast is a ghost-type Pokémon which evolves into Palossand - basically a haunted sandcastle - while Stufful is a teddy bear that hates being cuddled and eventually evolves into Bewear, which was revealed a while back.
What do you make of these new Pokémon? Let us know by posting a comment.

I'm still salty from last night's episode....
Technically only one of these is a new reveal.
We have known about all but the crab dude(who is actually pretty cool) for a week or so.
All are still then times better then Drampa and Bruxish.
I still feel bad for Sandygast. That shovel in the head must really hurt. Its face says it all lol.
Loving the new abilities. Water compact makes perfect sense as an ability!!
See this is one reason as to why I wouldn't live the pokemon world, no matter where you go, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE THAT ONE POKEMON THAT WOULD EFF YOU UP IF YOU'RE NOT CAREFUL. But that Crab, Mr.Krabs, is that you?
@Kamiyouni what episode
A sandcastle? Really?
I haven't been this excited for a Pokemon game in a while. Can't wait to get the Moon version.
Pokedex entry for all the new ghost Pokemon: "Don't go near them or some vague bad thing will happen"
Hmm, the thumbnail picture is from the movie I watched just this afternoon! Nice coincidence. Either way, still love the idea of haunted sandcastles. And they look pretty funny, too!
@Kamiyouni Same. I stopped watching the anime long time ago but returned just for this last season. That conclusion was crap.
The sandcastles look much better in game.
And I'm trying to think of a good use for that ability (most water attacks are special) when I realized you could use soak on it!
Crabrawler seems to have a pretty good movepool so far!
Crabrawler - Not a bad design, but I've seen better. At least it wasn't slapped with the Water type as that would have seemed pretty generic by this point.
Stufful - I'm not really a fan. I think I actually prefer its evolution over it.
Sandycast - Although revealed sometime ago, the designs for both it and its evolution have grown on me. It seems to be a bit weird to have a possessed sand castle, but it's not a bad concept.
Palossand - Most of what I typed above applies here. The only addition is...how does this thing weigh so much? O_o
@Trinexx well sand can weight quite a bit and it all depends on how bit it is cause if it was the size of a castle, well you would know why.
BIG MEATY CLAWS
@edgedino: I suppose that would make sense if it was wet sand, but I'm not sure about dry sand. With a height of 4' 3", that doesn't quite seem to add up.
Then again, I'm questioning something in a world where ten year olds are allowed to run off on their own to catch and train superpowered creatures, and where conflicts with evil teams can be solved with Pokemon battles. XD
Will wait for the Toothbrush pokemon, used napkin and swingset pokemon!
The official website has this little tidbit about Palossand: "Palossand loves the vitality of Pokémon and drags small Pokémon into its body so it can steal their life force. Its sandy vortex swallows them up in a heartbeat! Pokémon dragged into Palossand leave traces of their ill will behind. It’s thought that this negative energy may be the starting point of new Sandygast..."
Sandyghast is basically Alolan Grimer
I was not expecting Stufful to be an actual teddy bear with a label and everything. Makes him feel like he should be a ghost type as a possessed toy like Banette?
Crab dude is cool!
Pokémon don't they own a company called Nintendo. They used to make home console games back in the day.
@CreamyDream Well it's good to know some will be able to enjoy the new pokemon, and needless to say it's interesting to see what else they got in store for us!
Neither great or bad. Passable.
crabrawler should easily be water fighting
I was expecting a smoother pun for Crabrawler.
A sandcastle.
Only the crab has my interest, still hate the bear and Ash's grand finale.
Whilst I don't actually mind, I think k it's great that you once again didn't show a picture of the new Pokemon on the home page for those who are staying away from any and all announcements. It just shows why I love this site so much!
A Boxing Hermit Crab ?
And A Sandcastle Pokemons ?
Beach themed Pokemons for sure...
@Trinexx not to mention being 10 lasts for about 20 years and everything can be alive lol but think of it like this, maybe its a really overweight ghost possessing the sand like casper's cousin fatso.
I don't like the tag coming out of Stuffuls butt.
@Radbot42 naw that would have been to generic for it after all they are making more variety in this era. though i was kinda sad it wasn't a fighting/poison type.
I think the sandcastles' ability is pretty clever.
Seriously people, look at the official artwork on the website. There's a picture of the sandcastle dragging a Pikachu under the sand to its doom! Can't believe they showed that, so dark, haha
@IceClimbers: Well, these claws aren't just for attracting mates!
@roy130390 something happen?
The exact reason I haven't been into pokemon for 15 years....Just when I think the designs can't get any more retarded...they always prove me wrong.
More crap hahaha! Stick to making variations of gen 1!
The crab looks cool. Other than that, Bewear's prevolution looks a little better now that we've seen its in-game model. It's got a price tag below its tail so that's a nice detail. Anyway, given its a teddy bear, its oversized head and weird pose make perfect sense now.
The crab should be fighting/water, and the whole Bewear chain is stupid. But overall these designs were pretty good
@Pikachupwnage We know, but Nintendo likes to pretend that Japan and the West can't communicate with each other.
Crabrawler is based off a coconut crab. They don't do water, hence the lack of water typing.
Also Stufful is a stuffed bear that doesn't like to be hugged while Bewear is a bear that wants to show affection but is also dangerous to get close to.
I think they might be running out of ideas here.
Sand Castle... Pokémon? I said that Generation 7 was a bit weird in a forum. Looks like I'm right. How far will this go? Will there be a Wii U console Pokémon and a toilet Pokémon in the future? xD
@Trinexx I think it was questioned back in Gen V, Bianca's dad would not let up. Moreover I'm fairly certain Plasma was just evil PETA.
@Undead_terror How 'bout the lavalamp, paperweight and the potato, whom I will, if ever the day arises, Stu-pud jr, that or Spud sr.
It seems fair to say that there probably isn't any leisurely activity in Alola that can't also result in death.
and you thought it was safe to go to the beach....
Only one of these is new...
SO MANY QUESTIONS!!!
Is Palossand supposed to be "Palace sand" or "Pile o' sand"?
Why isn't Crabrawler Fighting/Water?
When can I get a Stufful?
@Ninten-san I think there are far more great ones than weird ones.
@Ed_Fairway So... just PETA?
@MrMario02 It's not Water/Fighting because it's based on a coconut crab, which don't live in water. A better question is why isn't it Bug/Fighting.
@Krisi I wanted to say that, but I didn't want to offend anyone who might support it. Though in hindsight, with the stuff they've made accusations about...sure why not
@Ed_Fairway a potato Pokémon sounds ace to me! I imagine it would be like the Magikarp of the grass types, starting as a useless lump and growing into a huge entanglement of roots and vines for ensnaring it's prey! I'm surprised how few grass types we have based on fruit and veg really. There are some mushrooms, Cherrim/Cherubi, Tropius seems to have bananas on it's neck and I imagine Oddish to be some sort of turnip/swede/radish. Exeggcute is food based but not a plant based food really (though loosely eggplant perhaps?). I think they should really delve into this avenue for grass types!
@Ninten-san How about a mime artist! How weird would that be!?
@Ogbert Now that you mention it, there hasn't been many fruit and veg based pokemon (although potato technically aren't a veg as far as I know). Delving further into the design, how about we give it multiple eyes, something you'd see in a Lovecraft home cook book. On another note, while everyone's thinking of crabrawler as Mr Krabs, I'm imagining him to sound more like a drunk cowardly lion.
@Dizzard So Pokemon hasn't just rebooted the craze, but now they've restarted the Jaws scare.
@TeeJay But there are far more weird ones in Generation 7 than in the other generations.
@Ninten-san Uh, no....not while 5th gen is a thing...
There was spam here, it's gone now.
@Ninten-san
LOL. Toilet Pokemon...XD
Psst...Pizza Pokemon, Sushi Pokemon, Tempura Pokemon, Lipstick Pokemon, High Heel Pokemon.... Ooops, too much jokes. XD
I like Crabrawler and the Sand Castle alot.
Sandygast looks like Desertman from Battle Network:
http://static.giantbomb.com/uploads/scale_small/1/10460/834138-desertman.exe.jpg
@Ed_Fairway oh yeah they're not really veg are they? Well food plants is what I meant. I like the Lovecraftian many-eyed potato idea!
@Ogbert Weird ideas, I'm full of 'em, case in point, man bear riding a motorcycle towards a pack of flaming lions. Yes it came off the top of my head, no I didn't take anything.
@edgedino we have 2 water fighting pokemon. How would this be a bad thing? One is Poliwrath, one I never really see, and the other is a legendary.
@Radbot42 supposedly the water starter is gunna be a water/fighting as well also its the fact its a crab just because its a crab doesn't mean it has to be water.
@edgedino where have you seen/heard water/fighting? The leaks that have some credibility have it as water/fairy with water/psychic being second likely if it keeps the whole bubble performer motif.
@Arcamenel a while back when japanese pokemon site was ata mined but this is if it keeps to the triangle of grass/flying, water/fighting, fire/rock
I don't see a problem with the sand castle. My top three ground types are Krookodile, Flygon and Nidoking in that order, but this could come close. It's like a traditional RPG slime monster, only more creative, somewhat creepy and that dumb shovel on top of its head gives it a silly charm. I think this one has a guaranteed spot on my SM team, together with Rowlet and Vikavolt.
A sand castle? BUCK YES! I am so loving Sun and Moon!
