Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (28th March)

In between battering Mewgenics and the odd bit of Mario Tennis Fever, I've been on a PlayStation Studios kick as of late.

In the week I finally went back to and finished God of War, a game I started way back in 2023 but just wasn't feeling. That game is special and I'm glad I went back to it. I'm now playing Horizon: Zero Dawn Remastered.

I'm still neck deep in Mewgenics; grinding out Act I while breeding cats, because Act II is kicking my arse.

I bought my wife Pokémon Pokopia, and I played around two hours after she went to bed last night. It's slow going at the moment and the state the area is in is giving me anxiety, but I think I'm going to stick with it.

@ShadLink it is nice that they cater to those who have yet to purchase a Switch 2, and I'm all for Nintendo putting out the odd Switch 1 game.

However, Zeroo was citing third-party games in response to people wondering why Nintendo hasn't announced many new Switch 2 games, and that concern is valid. I'm in the camp that buys Nintendo consoles to play new Nintendo games - and I know I'm not alone, as it's extremely rare for a third-party game on a Nintendo console to sell as well as versions of the same game on other platforms, while Nintendo games regularly release and chart for years on end - so it is kind of concerning that Nintendo has been pretty quiet on the new Swtich 2 exclusives announcements.

That was a bit rambling; hopefully I got my point across 😅

Re: UK Charts: Mario Tennis Fever Gets Lobbed By Old Favourites

@Fighting_Game_Loser yep, a lot of Nintendo games/franchises have really long tails. They're the sort of games that a sizeable chunk of consoles owners end up buying at some point over the course of the console's lifespan. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing consistently charting (along with many other games) are testament to this 👍

@rvcolem1 my assumption is that these aren't on NSO because they will be compatible with Pokémon Home. NSO games having things like rewind and multiple save states would bring about opportunities for "cheating" in order to get Pokémon with more desirable stats, moves and abilities. These Pokémon would then be transferable to Home and in turn transferable to other games such as the upcoming Pokémon Champions, which is set to be the game used in the official Pokémon competitive scene. It's a whole can of worms that I suspect Nintendo and The Pokémon Company would just rather not deal with.

Re: Poll: What Nintendo Switch 2 Games Are You Most Excited For In 2026?

As it stands right now with what we currently know about: Mario Tennis, Yoshi and Pokopia (the latter simply because I know my wife is going to go nuts for it).

Other than that, I'm curious to see what's being cooked up for Pokémon's 30th anniversary. Presumably it's Gen 10, and I want to see how that turns out. Hopefully it's not another slip-up like the initial release of Scarlet and Violet.

During the week, I finished up Gotham Knights and slammed through The Rogue Prince of Persia, the latter of which is one hell of a game. As a Dead Cells enjoyer I couldn't put it down. I did end up with a sequence break though, which rendered two of the Steam achievements unobtainable unless I start a new game. You know what though? The game's so good, I'm not even mad and I probably will start a new save file to get them.

So I might do that over the weekend. I'll also still be chipping away at Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, playing some Helldivers 2 and maybe pick something else out of the Backlog of Shame™.

Re: UK Retailer GAME Is Reportedly On The Verge Of Collapse Once Again

If only GAME hadn't bought out its main competitor years ago, we might still have a somewhat healthy videogame retail scene in the UK. Buying Gamestation made GAME the only specialist chain in town, and with no competition GAME was pushing away its customers and going way, way downhill - what with overpriced games and poor trade-in value - long before the rise of digital media started.
