If they're going to do something like Super Mario 3D All-Stars, it'd be nice if they let us, y'know, buy it. Don't yank it off (settle down) sale a few months later. I guarantee that compilation would still be doing decent numbers now had Nintendo not made one of its patented Moronic Decisions™.

@Pillowpants part of the problem is that Silksong - to my knowledge anyway; correct me if I'm misremembering - was originally announced to be an expansion for the original game, back during its Kickstarter campaign. So people knew it was coming in some form since before Hollow Knight even released. Again, I might be misremembering things.

@Lenzo as of 31st March 2025, Super Mario Bros. Wonder had sold 16.03 million units, which is impressive as it launched over three and a half years after New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. I think there's still time for Wonder to sneak onto the top 10 bestselling list. And rightfully so because it's the best 2D Mario platformer. Yeah, I said it.

It's very obvious and it's the one thing I don't like about the game.

This has the potential to be an interesting Partner Showcase, given that third-party pickings on Switch 2 are pretty slim at the moment. Although I imagine it'll be heavy on games that have been out on other platforms for quite a while already. Personally I'd like to see more info and/or a release date for Professor Layton and the New World of Steam.

I bet NOA were over the moon back in the mid 2000s when Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie came to their platforms.

I see Donkey Kong Country Returns HD snuck in at 37. I assume that's people without a Switch 2 looking for a DK fix. Or people with a Switch 2 playing Bananza, finally figuring out that DK is cool and looking for more.

Remember when Pokémon spinoff games were cool? Snap, Puzzle League, Picross, Pinball... Man, I would be all over a new Pokémon Pinball game. At least New Pokémon Snap was good.

@AstroTheGamosian Square Enix is already bringing Final Fantasy VII Remake to Switch 2, so you have to assume Rebirth won't be too far behind.

That investment actually had a return though. No amount of support will propel Mario Party into the kind of cultural zeitgeist Mario Kart enjoys.

Just kinda playing devil's advocate here. They haven't done Mario Kart numbers, but the Mario Party games on Switch have been successful sales wise. As of 31st March 2025, Jamboree is at over 7.48 million, Superstars is at over 14 million and Super Mario Party at over 21.16 million.

There's the obvious question of the whens Mario's first non kart game coming out

At the moment, I personally couldn't care less, as a certain other game has its hooks well and truly in me. I love me some Super Mario Odyssey as much as anyone, but that Donkey Kong Bananza is something else.

Colour me interested. This looks gorgeous and I'm always down for games like this.

Donkey Kong 64 is proof that bigger isn't always better. The constant backtracking to switch characters just to back-backtrack to collect different coloured bananas or some other nonsense was so egregiously boring. Rare had a great balance with Banjo-Kazooie, but completely botched it with Tooie and DK64.

I haven't played a Mario Party game since the Wii. I forget which one it was. The original release of Mario Party Jamboree wasn't on my radar but Jamboree TV looks really fun.

Everyone calls Raikou, Entei, and Suicune the legendary dogs, but they're cats surely? I mean, look at them.

I've never understood why people fawn over Kaze and the Wild Masks. It's really not great.

@Solomon_Rambling it is pretty easy so far. Although, I imagine that the actual challenging stuff comes after the credits roll. Odyssey had some pretty tricky stuff after you "beat" the game.

So far, about 5 hours in? Easily a 9/10. And it might very well end up a 10/10. This is just the most fun I've had with a game in years and the next 3D Mario game can take all the time it needs, as far as I'm concerned.

It hasn't made me motion sick at all, but I think I'm really lucky in that I've never suffered with motion sickness; not in moving vehicles, VR, nothing. I sympathise with those who do though. This game in particular looks like it'd be a nightmare if you're sensitive to sudden or erratic camera movements.

This is one of those games that, over the course of the next six or seven years, will end up selling ridiculous numbers. You only need to look at how many old Switch games are still consistently in the top 40 to come to that conclusion.

They're both bad.

This DK Artist mode is the stuff of nightmares, truly. I may never sleep again.
