Re: Nintendo's Patent On 'Sub Characters' Could Have Some Dire Ramifications

Markatron84

After I said a few days ago that Nintendo was well within its right to pursue a legal direction, today I find myself taking the exact opposite stance.

Digimon, for example, has been around since 1997, doing the exact thing that Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have just patented, and what? They only thought to patent it now? This is a knee jerk reaction to Palworld being the first comparable game in years that truly looked like it might be a competitor to Pokémon, in terms of popularity and financial success, and Nintendo got scared that it might no longer be able to rest on its laurels.

Re: Nintendo Life Reader Survey 2025

Markatron84

Oh I thought this was going to be a survey about the website itself. I was going to request a feature that lets us filter out comments with specific words or phrases. Because there are some topics that I'm personally sick of hearing people complain about, and also some viewpoints around social "issues" that people in here bring up that I personally find abhorrent.

Re: Poll: Three Months In, How Would You Rate Switch 2's Library So Far?

Markatron84

I only bought a Switch 2 for Nintendo games and Picross games. I'm still playing Mario Kart World and I got a good 50 hours out of Donkey Kong Bananza. Plus there are a load of Switch 1 games I haven't played yet (including at least three Picross games).

I could definitely see how/why people who bought a Switch 2 as their main console or handheld might not be completely over the moon with its third party library at the moment as it is slim pickings. But I game elsewhere when it comes to third party so personally I currently have no complaints.

Re: Publisher Acclaim Is Set To Host Its Own Showcase Next Month

Markatron84

A lot of people here need to get their expectations in check. Burnout? Turok? WWF/E? Smash TV?

Most of Acclaim's catalogue was based on licences (Turok, South Park, Shadowman, WWF/E, etc), stuff they ported to home consoles for other companies (Smash TV, Mortal Kombat, NBA Jam, etc) or stuff they published that is now owned by other companies (Burnout). Plus, this isn't the same company it was. Jeff Jarrett and co. just bought the name.

Re: Kirby Air Riders Zooms Onto Switch 2 This November

After watching the Direct (and having my wife, bless her, narrate the whole 45 minutes because I couldn't read the subtitles), I'm not sold on this game in the slightest. I know in the grand scheme of things Nintendo's games don't get demos on the eShop all that often, but this is one instance where I'd really appreciate one.

Re: Mailbox: Game-Key Cards, Slacker Sakurai, Shapes & Beats - Nintendo Life Letters

Markatron84

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely understand and appreciate why people would be against Game Key Cards. But seriously, not everyone needs to comment on every article or review regarding a game that's releasing on a GKC about how they're not going to buy it because it's on a dirty GKC. Again, I get it and you do you, but Nintendo's not reading these comments. Why not email Nintendo every time you see an article or review about a GKC game instead?

Re: Feature: 32 Games We're Dying To See On Switch 2

Markatron84

I only bought a Switch 2 to play Nintendo games and every Picross game Jupiter makes until the entropic heat death of the universe, so I'm personally not actively hoping to see any of the games mentioned come to the platform. However, more games should be available in more places so that people have more of a choice, so: all of them.

Re: Pac-Man World 2: Re-Pac Is A Big Glow-Up On Switch & Switch 2

@IronMan30 I don't want to sound rude, but have you been living under a rock the last few months? 😜 They're mentioning it because some consumers have been vocal about their displeasure at a lot of Switch 2 games being Game Key Cards, meaning the game card doesn't actually contain any data but instead requires you to download the game from the eShop.
