The award-winning Return Of The Obra Dinn is coming to Nintendo Switch this fall.
Designed by Lucas Pope – the creator of the 2013 critical hit Papers, Please – Return of the Obra Dinn takes place on board a ghost ship from the 1800s. The ship's crew has either died or vanished, and it's up to the player to piece together what happened using a combination of reasoning and the "Memento Mortem stopwatch", which allows you to travel backwards in time to the exact moment a crew member died. From there, you can hopefully fill in the gaps and piece together what happened.
The game was showered with praise upon its original release, and sports a unique graphical style which calls to mind the monochrome computers of the '80s. It's yet another fantastic indie title on Switch – are you looking forward to playing it? Let us know with a comment.

Nearly bought this on Steam but had been hoping for a Switch release. Game looks fabulous.
I held off on the Steam version, and it seems that was a wise move. Looking forward to this!
I'll wait for the inevitable physical release.
This looks awesome. Wish there was more interesting stuff like this in the Direct. Not complaining too much but I was a tad underwhelmed tbh.
Really one of the best adventure/puzzle solving games of all time. Can’t recommend this one enough. Totally absorbing.
This game looks great and I definitly want to give it a chance, that said... Was I the only one suprised of when it showed up in the direct?
It was right at the start, sandwiched between two high profile JRPGs like Trials of Mana and Little Town Hero, like... why was it even there? XD
Still probably a weird good spot, it was so out of place that it ended up even more highlighted!
@BakaKnight This game was a huge deal on PC. It deserved the spot.
This was hands down the most exciting announcement of the Direct for me. Instapurchase. Can't wait!
Papers, Please was great, and this looks terrific too.
I have been awaiting a console release. Waiting paid off!!
Been hoping for a switch release so I will finally have a chance to play! What a great bundle of surprises in today’s direct!
Still collecting virtual dust in my Steam library. I’ll probably repurchase for Switch. The game is critically acclaimed.
Absolutely loved Papers, Please. This looks wonderful, too.
I've been expecting this to come on Switch so much that I thought it was already announced. I guess I was just confused.
Anyway, great news!
This one looks really neat- can’t wait to try it out!
This was the only thing in the Direct that I found interesting...
@Ralizah
Is there anything different about the Switch version... other than being portable?
Added content... gyro controls?
@holygeez03 Probably not.
But if you're a multiplatform owner and tend to wait for the Switch versions of games, then it's likely that the portability is a big enough draw on its own. Otherwise you'd probably already own it.
@Ralizah
Just wondering... I will likely purchase it on Steam at some point due to the higher resolution (I assume) and fully configurable controller.
I would consider the Switch version if it has some sort of additional features.
Been waiting for this for a while on Switch. Excited to see what all the hype is about.
Great announcement!! I've heard nothing but good things, cant wait to give it a shot
A really nice surprise. Papers Please was brilliant and this looks (drumroll) perfect for the Switch
@holygeez03 I’m not sure gyro would really add anything to the game. I guess touch screen controls would be nice since a lot of the game is navigating a crew manifest, but it’s not necessary.
Glad I held out on the pc version.
@NotTelevision
I'm not sure how the game works... but if there is camera control, just mapping that to the gyro of the Steam Controller can be really nice.
Also, the "trackball" scrolling on the touchpads can be really nice for things like you mentioned.
I had honestly never heard of this game until the Direct and was intrigued by what I saw. Now that I know the guy responsible for Papers, Please (an excellent indie game I played on PC) had a hand in it, it's on my radar.
