Update (Fri 20th Sep, 2019 23:29 BST): The demo for Ori And The Blind Forest is now available on the North American eShop.
Original Article (Fri 20th Sep, 2019 00:45 BST): After an exclusive run on Microsoft systems, next week the definitive edition of Ori And The Blind Forest launches on Nintendo Switch. In case you hadn't already seen the Nintendo Download update, there's a demo of this game that will be made available on the European Switch eShop this week.
Unfortunately, there's no sign of this demo in the North American update, so you'll need to have access to a European account if you do want to see how it runs on Nintendo's hybrid hardware. Here's the description from this week's download update:
The forest of Nibel is dying. After a powerful storm sets a series of devastating events in motion, Ori must journey to find courage and confront a dark nemesis to save the forest of Nibel. “Ori and the Blind Forest” tells the tale of a young orphan destined for heroics, through a visually stunning Action-Platformer crafted by Moon Studios. “Ori and the Blind Forest” explores a deeply emotional story about love and sacrifice, and the hope that exists in us all.
Will you be downloading this demo prior to the game's release? Do you plan on purchasing the full game next week? Leave a comment below.

Is pre-load live yet? I'm already sold on the game.
Play Ori if you haven't. Its such a refreshingly fast paced platformer/metroidvania that really emphasizes quick traversal around environments and very fluid movement and combat. Will of the Wisps also looks stellar as well and I will be picking that up from the PC Windows 10 Store at launch. Definitely worth a look if you aren't already planning on spending your next weekend as the Luminary.
DQXI comes first, but this one also deserves to sell very well. Looks awesome, and everyone talks great things about it.
I'll try out the demo for sure.
No pre-load? What’s going on here?
Is Ori getting physical?
I’m already sold on the game, but sure i’ll give the demo a try.
I was planning on buying this game at release but I can’t snub my nose at a demo- never know if I end up saving money or making an unplanned purchase.
Will this game be getting a physical release on switch? If not I'll just stick to my Xbox version...
Great news! Will try it. Is this game only bound for the eshop?
Hmmmm. Loaded up my euro account, and no demo.
Edit: my lack of reading skills has shown itself again. Lol.
Any word on the physical release? I’ll buy that as soon as it hits shelves.
So excited for Ori. It's subsequently amping up my excitement for Rivals of Aether. Good time to be a Switch owner!
Too many damn games...
Nice, yes please and thank you Sir.
Very nice, even though I am buying it without needing the demo.
I've heard a lot about this game so it's nice to see it getting a demo. I shall give it a whirl.
I'm sold on the game, not bothering with the demo as i want the full experience next week.
Any idea on file size of the demo? I'm on limited mobile data for the next couple of weeks! Thanks.
This was my favourite game on the commodore 64 back in the 80's.
@popey1980 4 gig
Every game should have a demo honestly. Even if it’s a short one, it should be a thing since you can’t get refunds for digital games.
@Liam_Doolan I'm downloading it now - 1:30PM Eastern time in the US - on my 1 an only US account if you'd like to go ahead and update the article.
People in the US should be able to click on Demo available >

Tried the demo, seem like a good game so far
Holy sh*t! That opening sequence is a masterpiece.
Now back to Zelda then no no Kuni then DQ11 then Ori
@rjejr
I’m playing now. I’ve been raving about this game ever since I played it on my Xbox years ago. I still can’t believe I’m playing it on my Nintendo Switch right now. Ori and Cuphead. Two of the finest exclusives Xbox had to offer this gen, and both of them are on my Switch at full 1080p 60fps. One thing I’ll give Microsoft developers and devs who work with Microsoft is, they know how to optimize properly.
So many demos. And so many games. Daemon X Machina has me hooked. It’s just phenomenal with the gyro aiming and HD rumble feedback for gunfire. It’s crazy because I wasn’t expecting much with the average reviews and I’ve ended up loving the heck out of it. It’s not on the level of say, Astral Chain, which has surpassed Bayonetta 2 as my favorite Platinum Games title of all time, but it’s still really good. Not being as good as one of the best video games I’ve ever played isn’t exactly a hard knock against it. It’s the gyro though. Without it I don’t know if I’d enjoy it nearly as much. There just aren’t any high-quality mech games out there that let you fly around and aim with Gyro.
Dragon Quest XI S. Ni No Kuni. Zelda Links Awakening, which, that game is outstanding- but the frame rate fluctuations during transitions between areas is aggravating and frankly, I’m a little disappointed for a first party Zelda title. Daemon X Machina. Astral Chain. 3 more Fire Emblem Three Houses paths. GRID Autosport. Ori and the Blind Forest. Final Fantasy VIII. Spyro Trilogy. Star Wars Pinball (actually pretty fun- everyone needs at least one solid pinball game). Divinity Original Sin 2. Darksiders 2.
I’ve got so many games Im juggling I feel like a circus clown. And we haven’t even broken into October yet, with Sniper Elite 3 (with gyro, otherwise I wouldn’t care), Witcher 3, Overwatch (with gyro and bots, otherwise I wouldn’t care), Resident Evil Triple Pack, Monkey Ball (that’s my jam). Yooka Laylee DKC Edition. Hat In Time Mario 64 edition. Atelier Ryza “finally a high quality Atelier game” Edition. Digimon Story. Luigi’s Mansion 3...
I don’t think I’m ever going to complain about a drought again. Let me know how you like Ori though. Probably going to want to put it on the lower difficulty though because the game can get pretty intense.
@JaxonH I played all of Ori on Xbox 1 on whatever the normal standard difficulty was. Nearly killed me 3 times. Well killed me twice, other time - lava escape - was more like a heart attack induced stroke. I think I swore I'd never play another 2D platformer after that b/c it was both so good and so hard.
I really need to play Witcher 3 some day, maybe after my son goes away to college in 11 months. Make it's a 55th birthday promise to myself. Maybe by that point I should just wait until the 4k version on PS Next, after I buy a 4k tv, still need 1 of those.
My family right now is arguing over what tv show to watch next, my 1 son wants us to watch him play Astral Chain, which we don't actually own. So. Much. Arguing. Makes me just want to go to bed.
I loved the demo. Get the game for sure.
Well, I'm new to Nintendo Switch and have been playing on my launch-day PS4 since Day One. I will admit that I love them both and they both have their high and lows, perks, etc.! I really got the Switch because you can find a lot of cheap games on it (digitally and on cartridge) and, of course- it's always nice to be able to play some Mario or Zelda!!
NOW TO THE REASON FOR MY POST: I can confirm that just like with PS4, if you go to http://www.Nintendo-Europe.com or some such site (do a Google search for "European Nintendo website"), you can EASILY make a Euro account and just say ya live in the United Kingdom and you can add that account to your USA Nintendo Switch console and login to preview the "Euro eShop." Most Nintendo Switch owners obviously know this, but many of us PS4 gamers or who are new to Switch didn't know this and so I AM MAKING IT KNOWN! BTW: I did notice though LATE last night or early this morning that the Demo made it to the USA store (I THINK... Plz go double-check for me... I think I am right about the "Ori" Demo on the USA Nintendo eShop as I am like 99.9% sure I saw it before I eventually crashed out). The "Ori" Demo worked fine btw, even when I logged in with my USA account to play it. I do recommend that you LOGOUT of your Euro account once you make it or whenever you try to login to ANY website (like Epic Games store) and link your Nintendo Account to it, it will link ANY Nintendo account you currently have logged in!!! So, make sure to logout of your Euro account and that Euro website and log back in to your USA account ON THE USA website and NOT the Euro website!!! You do NOT want to mix stuff up or link the wrong Nintendo account to Steam, WoW's Battlenet, Epic Games store, etc.!!!! ^^
