Re: Talking Point: Could Nintendo Go Another Year Without A Switch Successor?

KryptoniteKrunch

If anyone could do it, it's Nintendo. People will argue "but the PS5 and Xbox Series are here and Nintendo will continue to fall even further behind", but that didn't matter when it came to Switch. A bunch of these major 3rd party titles didn't come to Switch and the platform was/is still a massive success.

However, with that said, I still think Nintendo should release Switch 2 this year as long as the games are ready. Having a good launch lineup and launch window(like the Switch did) is paramount.

Good article here, sums it up pretty well. Such a great year for Nintendo:

  • Tears of the Kingdom final trailer(I must've watched that like 80 times leading up to release)
  • The release of TotK(The launch of the game was an event itself; bringing back midnight launches, every store had a preorder bonus, launched alongside the Link amiibo etc.)
  • Playing TotK for the first time/experiencing the epic opening sequence.
  • The master sword scene.
  • The surprise reveal and launch of Metroid Prime Remastered.
  • The return of 2D Mario and making the formula feel fresh again.
  • Pikmin returning with a bang. Pikmin 4 was amazing and we also got 1&2 surprise releases.

Nothing really surprising here. First two games run good, as expected. Knight has issues, but to be expected for a PS4 game running on Switch that even had optimization issues on PC(PCs that were a lot stronger than the PS4 too) when it came out.

Still getting this collection, just happy these games are finally coming to Switch.
