Re: Nintendo's 'Summon Character To Fight' Patent Rejected By US Patent Office

KidSparta

If comments can be turned off for anything even remotely to do with American politics, could we turn comments off on these articles as well? It’s the same two “Nintendo is God and Pocketpair is the Devil” or “Pocketpair is an indie darling who fights on behalf of the people against the evil megacorp,” comments every single time. I’m tired man.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Mario Tennis Fever?

KidSparta

I’m glad to hear it’s pretty good, but I’m really hesitant to try another sports title after the Drip Feed + Barebones Single Player experiences on offer on the Switch 1. If this turns out to be a pretty good game and the reviews reflect that, maybe this is the start of a Mario Sports comeback (please just give another Sluggers and a mechanical sequel to Charged).

Re: Everything Included In The Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition & Free 3.0 Update

KidSparta

I’ve heard a lot of frame rates complaints since the trailer dropped. Where are all these people coming from? Splatoon, Smash, even Zelda to an extent absolutely need high frame rates so you can keep up. What exactly are you people doing in Animal Crossing that’s so high-octane that it requires a reaction time faster than a 30th of a second? It’s five bucks, man. Not every game needs 60FPS.

Re: Review: Pokémon Legends: Z-A - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - Stellar Battles, But A Step Down From Arceus

KidSparta

@ImpromptuR I believe the quote you highlighted is to specifically address that a reader might not be familiar with the reviewer. There’s no such thing as a 100% unbiased review, so the author is providing context for a personal preference that may have influenced her conclusions about the game. The way I see it, the point being made in this review is “I have higher standards for what constitutes ‘good JRPG combat.’ Pokémon games rarely meet this standard, but this game did so, which is a point in the game’s favor worth highlighting.”

Re: Random: This Upcoming PS5 'Cozy Life Sim' Certainly Rings A Bell

KidSparta

@ShieldHero I’ll bite. Renaissance art has a lot of instances of artists inspiring each other, especially given the emphasis on realism and detail not present in earlier artistic eras. The Last Supper and the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel are “similar” in the sense that they both had similar artistic goals of realism and depictions of religious imagery, but that’s where it ends. They are fundamentally different pieces in both scope and intent, and that’s quite alright.

This image is “similar” to Animal Crossing in the same way that Michelangelo’s art would be “similar” to Da Vinci’s if he had traced over The Last Supper, slightly altered the palette, and left out a few of the smaller details.

Re: Opinion: Metroid Prime 4 Reminds Me Of Gears 5, And It's Making Me Nervous

KidSparta

Gears 5 is cool and all man, but literally no one has brought up Wind Waker? It’s basically a Zelda game in every possible sense and they just added a little something to do between major areas, because why not? This will be a Metroid Prime game, but you’ll drive a motorcycle between certain areas rather than watching an elevator cutscene. That’s it.

Re: The Best Nintendo Switch 2 Games

KidSparta

@kal_el_07241 my brother, all of those games also changed the landscape of open world games when they released too. That doesn’t mean BOTW didn’t do the same thing later on.

Re: Random: Honda's Pokémon Koraidon Motorbike Looks Laughable In Practice

KidSparta

@SpaceboyScreams Scarlet/Violet are really good games creatively in terms of story, gameplay structure, and Pokémon designs. I think they’re the best in those respects since the original DS.

The main problems with these games is the technical performance, which absolutely should not be a problem for a company in charge of the most successful IP on earth. Don’t misunderstand me, they should definitely be heavily critiqued for launching Scarlet/Violet in their original state.

All that to say, there’s signs that some people really did care when designing these games, even if the final product is ultimately subpar. I wouldn’t say they’re blatantly cashgrabs.

Re: Pokémon Is Teasing Something Ahead Of Next Week's Showcase

KidSparta

My heart wants to believe this means we’re getting a bunch of classic Pokémon soundtracks shadow dropped on Nintendo Music, but my brain knows it’s either teasing some side mode in Z-A (like the contests in Gen 3 or the restaurants in Gen 6) or some upcoming Pokémon rhythm game. Any of these options is fine actually

Re: Talking Point: Do You Have A New Go-To Racer In Mario Kart World?

KidSparta

I have to admit that I have spent almost no time at all playing as the critters/minions. I’m really charmed by the character costumes, especially since I didn’t play Tour. I’ve spent a lot of time as Biker Wario on the Chopper, but I’ve been trying out default Pauline in the Reel Racer because that’s a pretty snazzy combination.

Re: Mario Kart World Has Been Updated To Version 1.1.1, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

KidSparta

@SplatRay001 I’m finding myself enjoying the intermissions way more than I expected, and even I wish this was an option. Maybe they’re worried having separate queues for “with intermissions” and “without intermissions” would make it too difficult to get matched up, but I don’t think they have to stress about it. Splatoon manages just fine with FIVE queues if you include Salmon Run, and I feel like Mario Kart has just as many dedicated online players.

Re: Rumour: Ubisoft Might Already Be Teasing More Switch 2 Games

KidSparta

Revives long dormant series

Manages to create one of the greatest Metroidvanias of at least the last decade

Disbands the team responsible anyway

Refuses to elaborate

Yeah, unless they backpedal hard on the whole Lost Crown sequel thing, I don’t see myself looking forward to anything they’ve got.

Re: Digital Foundry Digs Deep Into Mario Kart World's Tech And Specs

KidSparta

@mikegamer @Banjo- @N00BiSH I’m hoping the free-roaming open-world driving aspect is what this upcoming direct focuses on the most. The treehouse presented it as a way to see the finer details of tracks and find shortcuts, but I got the sense they were intentionally withholding information that couldn’t be shared until the direct. What else is there to even have a full, dedicated direct about? It’s my opinion that there’s a very big aspect of this game that we don’t know about yet, and it very likely ties into the open world.

Re: This Adorable Pokémon Gets Its First Trading Card In More Than 15 Years This Month

KidSparta

@YaGirlSkyByte I feel like the babies could have seen more prints and more use in general had they built in more value to them besides removing damage when evolving. They would be a lot more interesting if they provided a permanent buff to the Basic played on top and any subsequent stages. I’ve only played Pocket, so maybe I’m out of my mind and that’s crazy overpowered for some reason that’s going over my head, but at least on paper it seems like a way to make baby cards actually relevant.
