It was pretty obvious it was moved to next gen a long while ago.

If you're moving to a new game engine and rebuilding the game that is a remake, and it can be as simple as just literally porting it to a new engine and increasing the graphic fidelity, to actually changing the gameplay and approaching it with modern sensibilities and even new content.

It's pricey, it's also neat. It can be both things.

@link12684 As a small indie dev myself I can tell you that the more people you have working on a game the longer you spend showing them how to do things which detracts from actually building the game.

Well one thing I know having previously owned Scarlet/Violet is that Palworld runs better as a alpha on the old Xbos One S than either of those ran on current hardware.

@Rozetta I made about 500 off of 4 Pokemon games and bought the superior retro device called the MiSTer FPGA, no regrets and my 3DS is hacked and I have all of the games I sold nice and cozy.

This is reason to get excited! Now the community will do what Nintendon't, actually make a better online service for their old systems.

If you still love your 3DS and have no qualms about custom firmware look up something called the hshop, you are welcome.

Technically I am working on a game for the next Switch but we are not far enough along to need dev kits yet.

@Lord I'm talking like probably summer 2024, if it's backwards compatible there's going to be cross generation titles just like there was from the DS to the 3DS.

Widescreen works on MiSTer!

I mean out of all the 2D Mario games it is easily one of the best. I would even put it up next to Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World.

@johnvboy It will be up to publishers whether a game works or not if they are against it. They can use a blacklist system to prevent it similar to how the PSTV did it.

@Dragonite89 I hacked my Wii U the day I got my switch basically, my 3DS was hacked before the Metroid 2 remake came out and I got to play that like 2 weeks early. I just have no qualms about piracy just because I know it really doesn't affect anybody at the end of the day. These giant mega corporations are full of ***** and don't deserve all the money we give them.

@Don the alternative option is getting used n64 controllers and you can buy the 8-Bitdo kit to make them wireless. The cool thing though is this one works with Android and Linux as well as the switch and PC.

@K1LLEGAL I feel like they're going to do both of them next generation when the Switch Next comes out.

There's just so many quality of life things on top of the widescreen that makes the HD version better.
